A Decorative Flow Blue and White "Mandarin" Plate with Oriental Decoration
A very attractive plate with oriental decoration. There is normal age-related crazing but otherwise it is in very good condition. There is reflection on the photograph. Diameter- 10" I always obtain Certificate of Posting but in the case of higher value items will send either by Recorded Delivery or International Signed For. This does involve extra cost but I’m sure most of you will agree that this is for our mutual benefit. I post within two or three days after payment and always advise buyers of any delay. Sometimes delays are the responsibility of Royal Mail. My postage costs are kept as low as possible but packaging materials such as bubblewrap. Polystyrene beads, brown paper, etc. don't come cheap. ANTIQUE 1820 ENGLISH "BRUSHSTROKE" FLOW BLUE ORIENTAL FLORAL 12 SIDED PLATE
This is a very early example of"brushstroke" flow blue. This technique started in about 1820. This plate is earthenware and most others are done in Ironstone. It has 12 sides(dodecahedron) Is hand-painted and has the oldest of patterns. The later ones were done with a transfer. The blue tinge is usually heavier on the"brushstroke" ones and this is heavily tinged on the front and even more so on the back. The plate measures 8 1/2" 21.6 cm) in diameter and 1 1/4" 2 cm) high(or deep) There is a minute bit of scratching on the bottom of the plate from use, but very little and the glaze is not disturbed. The earlier ones were seldom marked and this plate has no potter's mark. The design features three large morning glories, six buds, three large and three small leaves. There are three noticeable"kiln spur" ... moremarks on the front and three sets of three kiln marks on the back. The raised, unglazed 1" by 1/4" earthenware area on the back is visible on the second photograph in this listing. This plate is a beautiful example of early flow blue it would make a great addition to any collection. The plate itself weighs 1 pound. Presented here is an antique old paris porcelain flow blue china plate with gold gilding decoration. Measures 7 3/4" in diameter. This is the SECOND of 2 currently up for auction. Note the scalloped edge. Deep cobalt blue and orange colors and the decoration on the under side. Condition is excellent as there are NO chips. Antique Flow Blue Niagara Falls View Souvenir Plate w Gold Trim AAA+++ Condition
We have aquired a lot of vintage plates from the early 1900's through the 1950's. Check em out. This auction is for a very very old souvenir plate made in Austria. Marked on the back VICTORIA AUSTRIA with a crown logo. I believe this is called a flow blue plate. It shows a stunning image of the Niagara Falls in New York State. It notes that this image is of the American Side of the falls. The plate measures 6 1/2" across and the plate is in fantastic condition. No issues at all. The gold trim shows no wear and the beautiful light to dark blue is just wonderful. The image of the falls has no issues of wear for it's obvious age. Just a great find. I'm a guy that doesn't usually deal with specific plate patterns or colors so if I don't hit the marks please consider my limited knowledge. This auction is for a Striking Early Polychrome Hand Painted 19th Century plate. It is Beautifully decorated in a Classic Chinoiserie Floral Pattern in Bold Imari colors of Cobalt Flow Blue. Iron Red, Orange and Green with Gold accents and outlining. The plate has a scalloped edge and measures 9 1/4 inches across. It is in good condition. Especially for its age. There are no chips or cracks or repairs. There is fine even crazing and some toning in spots. The moss green colored rim paint is flaking in spots(see last photo) Even so. Exceptional 10" Ridgway Flow Blue Plate w/ Turkey Bee Hive Mark c. 1900's VHTF
Presented here for your consideration is a wonderful flow blue plate from the Ridgways Pottery out of the Staffordshire area of England. The plate is 10" in diameter and is marked on the back with the Ridgway Bee Hive mark c. 1891-1920. There is also a potter's mark of what looks to be an impressed 07 over 7 but the impression is quite filled in with the glossy clear coat finish making it hard to discern. Condition of the plate is exceptional- if not MINT! showing no chips. Cracks, hairlines or known restoration. When tilted in bright light I cannot see even one utensil mark from previous use- just an incredible clear glow. There is crazing to the clear coat glaze as is found in almost all high-fired wares using this type of glossy finish. The plate highlights the wild turkey in the plate's bowl with floral decoration around ... morethe plate edge. The plate is scalloped and shows a rolled texture to the near rim edge. The plate has no damage, like cracks or chips. It does have normal surface wear/scratching from use and some browning on the reverse side. Has a great look and will display well with othe flow blue or transferware. MD buyer pays 6% sales tax. Please pay by PAYPAL. International shipping determined by location.
