It is a TURN OF THE CENTURY Victorian TABLE TOP OAK CHEST with 3 drawers and an open space. I believe it is a jewelry chest/ armoire or a gentlemans valet.not really sure.Some of it appears to be tiger oak. It is QUITE UNUSUAL with ornate metal work on ALL 4 CORNERS on the TOP of the chest.as well as ALL 4 CORNERS on the FRONT of the chest. Both front doors also have a metal SHIELD decoration and one side has a key lock which I do not have the key for. Nor do I know if it works.but looks very classy with all the Victorian Fancy Hardware. When opened. It reveals 3 drawers ~ 1 larger bottom one and 2 smaller side ones. It also has an open space to the right of the smaller drawers. The HANDLES on the 3 drawers are ORNATE with UNUSUAL DROP BAIL PULLS! ONE pull is MISSING. There is one pull which is unattached and as there is some metal damage to the 2 other handles. It will need some fixing.but still acceptable for its age in my opinion. Handsome American Made Burled Walnut Victorian Armoire A wonderful period piece that will provide you with a tremendous amount of storage space. And enhance the beauty of any room. Gorgeous piece of mid to late 19th century furniture. Thing I like most about this piece is that it is easily dismantled and reconstructed. No twisting or struggling to get pieces to fit. I did it myself but would recommend two people. Nice lines and beautiful wood inside and out. I believe exterior is walnut and interior is southern pine. Has some minor flaws that could be ignored or repaired. Top is missing some veneer and abrasion to back corner. One piece of trim needs glue. 19th Century Burled Walnut 3 Piece Armoire/Wardrobe (English)
This Ar-moire is in beautiful condition and has been passed down to me with the following info. The items actual date of manufacture is unknown. But has been stated as being 1890-1899. Material used for construction has been stated to be Burl Walnut. Item was originally purchased at an estate sale in Beverly Hills, CA. Weight of item has been stated to be in excess of 300 lbs. but never actually taken. Item is stated as being 100% original in hardware and materials used. Now for what we know for sure. This Ar moire is very large! Measures 76" tall(from bottom of legs to tallest point. Center) with 72 1/2" across(from left to right edge, center) and a depth of 19 1/2" Diagonally(from bottom left corner, across face, to top right corner) it measures 102" The wardrobe is sectioned into three pieces. The left two thirds share ... moretheir interior space and have a beautiful brass closet style rod spanning its length, with original brass hangers and hooks.The right most third of this wardrobe is partitioned, and has three adjustable shelves and an original glass mirror(48x14x1/4) mounted on inside of door. Above the mirror is one of the items two manufacturers stamps, MADE IN THE CITY OF BATH, ENGLAND(as pictured) The other is hand stamped on rear of door latches, and is a very clear"C& A" The construction is absolutely flawless and has absolutely no issues inside and out. This super cherry Armoire is in good condition and is in the style of Louis Philippe. Standing on stub feet. The Armoire has a plinth drawer to the bottom with a further drawer above which is constructed with hand cut dovetail joints and has turned wooden knobs. To the inside there is a single shelf with a telescopic hanging rail below it. If required more shelves can be made for an additional £15.00 each. Incredible French Carved Single Door. Mirrored, Armoire/Wardrobe. Incredible detail all over. This one is from the mid 1800's, I do not believe it has been refinished ever, looks all original to me. You will see a few age marks here and there, and a few flecks of veneer off along the bottom of the door. In the last picture you will see the door is open to the piece and the left hand side is seperated, this is because a tightening bolt is missing. These pieces break down in several pieces and have to be attached, the bolt that attaches the left side to the crown, or topper, is missing, I will get a new one and have it in there before it is delivered to a customer. Dragons, griffins, birds and fruit are lavishly sculpted in high relief by a master artisan. The old finish may be original and is very well preserved with minor mars on the bottom of this solid fine grained oak furniture. Waxed and buffed. Only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina. Brass hardware and glass knobs are original, drawers have expertly hand cut dovetail joints. It's large and comes apart to move. I do not have the four armoire bolts. You can get those replaced easily online. I have used this piece without the bolts. the 1890's key is not present. This beautiful example complete with its manufacturers label for Calcutta has an angular cornice over a pair of fielded panel doors with carved panels enclosing solid removable shelves and bank of three drawers with cup handles being raised atop a plinth base with squat feet. A monumental Regency/George III armoire. Incredible book-matched mahogany veneer with great patina. Floral carving. A balustrade and dentil carving on the pediment/cornice at the top. 101" tall, 70" wide, and 24-1/2" deep. Some wood shrinkage in the door panels(originally built with frame& panel construction for the doors to accommodate wood shrinkage) The large one-piece base has two doors. The top section is composed of two doors. The top pediment/cornice(one piece) a lighter back panel, and the two sides. A custom bench-made drawer system was built and installed. An antique Arts& Crafts style solid oak Hall Wardrobe of American origin. We are pleased to present this antique Hall Wardrobe for your consideration. It is made of solid Oak wood. And is of American origin with an Arts& Crafts or Mission style look. Unusual for an American piece, it has a mechanism for disassembly to simplify the task of moving it from one place to another. A single door is found on the front, and hooks(not original to the piece) are found on the back, near the top, for hanging garments. Limited depth on the inside is not sufficient for a hanger to fit front-to-back. So this piece is better suited for use as a Hall Wardrobe, rather than a full armoire. Other possibilities, with the addition of shelves, would be use as a Bookcase, Spice Cabinet, or Kitchen Pantry. The outside measurements are 69 inches high. 33-1/2 ... moreinches wide, and 15-1/2 inches deep. There are four(4) pieces of sliding wood locks on the inside. When slid towards the front and removed, they allow the top and bottom to be removed for transport(see three close up pictures to get an idea of how the mechanism works) On the inside. Measurements are 63 inches high, 28-1/2 inches wide, and 12-3/4 inches deep of usable space. Five(5) sturdy hooks are available at the top for hanging jackets, hats, or similar items. The Hall Wardrobe is in great shape. The finish on the outside looks fresh with minimal wear. There are a few water stains on the interior. But the wood is solid. The hinges on the front door have a heavy patina from age, but are quiet and in good mechanical condition. We rate the overall condition as very good. This is a real beauty like nothing I have ever seen. The wood is in extremely good condition no bad spots on the outside considering it is over a hundred years old. Everything works good no stains. No real issues except maybe the mirrors are a little foggy and some of the back panel has been replaced on the dresser which is not a big deal. Stunning Antique French mirror wardrobe/armoire from the Belle Epoque Era
This has been in our spare room for several years and we absolutely love it- it is truly beautiful. Sadly we need to part with it to make way for a new member of the household. The top piece comes off above the mirrored door. And both drawers and shelves come off/out to make moving/transport easier. It is very sturdy, not a light piece. The paintwork is distressed and it was bought like this 11 years ago, and only the knobs and handles have been changed as they were in poor shape or not existent and 1 shelf added. It measures 252 cm high at middle point 124 cm wide. 46 cm deep plus the top piece sticks out another 25 cm as you can see from photo 2, but is removable. This excellent quality French antique double door armoire in the Henri II style dates from c.1900. The armoire has been painted in Farrow and Ball'Pavillion Grey' with'All White' highlights. And has been given a soft wax finish. With some wonderful features including a carved removeable top with finials to each side. There are reeded columns either side of the decoratively carved panelled doors. With ornate brass locks to the doors and handles to the drawer. The interior can be fitted with adjustable shelves or can have a shelf with hanging rails from front to back. There is an additional useful drawer to the base. As with all our wooden items it has been fully treated with a woodworm preventative as a matter of course. There are some very minor knocks and bumps but this is in keeping with its age c1900. 19th Century French Fruitwood Armoire
This is a lovely 19th century fruitwood armoire. Its in lovely condition for its age. A few old worm holes on the top, which you can't see at they are in the bit of the armoire at the back and on the top, but are old holes and has also been retreated just in case It has 2 glazed doors. And 2 drawers to the bottom. Inside there are 3 fully adjustable shelves. It is mainly in one piece, the top is off and the doors are off, but the back and sides are all joined. Its a large item. It measures 98 inches high, 19 inches deep and 55 inches wide. Solid pine antique wardrobe/ armoire. Beautiful. Has bags& bags of character, hand made hinges, still working lock complete with original key. It is still very sturdy. A testament to the craftsmen who made it. Has four shelves which can be removed if required. If you wish to add a hanger rail for longer garments. Would look stunning in a victorian or cottage home. Antique Walnut Armoire Book Matched Door Panels 1880-1899 All original no nails
A beautiful Antique ARMOIRE over 100 years old. In excellent condition. Solid Walnut with book matched door panels Measures 8 feet high x 5 feet wide x 22 inches deep. Each door is 23 1/2 inches wide. 2 draws on bottom. Built with no screws or nails held together with wood dowels and wedges. I have the original solid brass casters. Breaks down into 12 pieces easy to move. I don't know who made but there is marking on all pieces I can't make them out. The true color is like the top of the armoire.
