The piece is in amazing condition, with very little sign of wear at all. Unfortunately, someone has installed shelves within the armoire which are supported using contemporary "L" brackets. These could easily be removed, however, with little effort. I am unsure of the exact age or manufacture of the piece. It features a gorgeous crown molding around the top, for a majestic finished look. The piece also features an embossed carving of scrolling vines, capped with a shell motif at the top of the door. The mirror features a a one inch bevel around the perimeter.

VINTAGE 1930s ARMOIRE 2 DOOR WITH DRAWERS AND CLOTHES HANGER
This is an old vintage armoire that belonged to my grandparents. I can remember it in the attic in the 1950's where they left it when they moved to their retirement home at the shore. So they thought it was too old to take with them back then. It's a walnut color, but I'm pretty sure the wood is oak. Cosmetically, it's in good shape, though there's definite crazing on the doors, a sign of age. The rest of the piece shines up nicely and Old English makes the doors look awfully good despite the crazing. The armoire has two doors. Behind one is a set of drawers. Behind the other is a clothes hanger, so it will hold a bit of everything. It has metal wheels, so it will roll, but I'd recommend putting pads under the wheels if you have wood floors. It features beautifully carved provencal style flowers with basket at center. With a serpentine shaped apron raised on cabriole legs and original hardware. It features 1 shelf, but more could be added and the original key. The only flaws to mention is a split in the floor of the piece that does not affect the armoire structurally(see picture) and repair to repair to back legs. This piece is a great decorator piece! There is only some very minor damage to one of the corners, otherwise it is in very good condtion. Kept in a smoke-free house. This is a wonderfully useful piece of furniture. It comes apart and moves very easily. It has been a life saver for life in New York. With no closets and limited storage space, this keeps it all neat and tidy in one place and acts like a room divider as well! I first bought it when I had a small studio with no closets. Room for a bed and no much else. This accommodated a chest of drawers, a hanging closet and the large flat pull out shelves(linen press) stored all my drawings. Exceptional French Empire Gilt& Patinated Bronze Mounted Mahogany Armoire Probably c. 1880-1910 Item# 130408PXG26 This rare and exciting work of art from the last quarter of the 19th Century is exceptional in every way. An incredible accomplishment. The foundry work executed in this piece is above reproach- each gilt bronze mount is hand chased to the highest quality, mercury gilded and of outstanding detail. An angular and commanding work, the Armoire is surmounted by a triangular crest that is removable from the body with two dowels on either side- this is flanked by a pair of carved mahogany(replaced) finials. Beneath the projecting crown molding, an incredible gilt bronze mount of an angel riding through ocean waves in a cornucopia pulled along by swans while leaving behind a trail of shells is simply stunning. Flanking this on either ... moreside are opposing gilt bronze solider masks. The top is removable. Lifting off of large steel screws inside of the armoire to allow the door to be lifted from it's hinges for easier transportation. On either side of the door, pedestaled on large tapered columns rest large and highly impressive patinated and gilt bronze Classical female heads with bowed ribbon holding her hair back. These are the largest mounts of flawless execution we've seen on a piece from this period, each a stunning work of art in it's own merit. A hand filed steel screw secures each head to the case. Beneath the column, intense gilded Lion Paw's in the Regency manner complete the form. The arched door swings open with use of the original key. Revealing a golden oak interior of four shelves and a single locking drawer. This drawer is hand dovetailed with solid oak secondary woods, when removed revealing an illegible signature in period script along the dust board. Affixed to the top of the armoire on the inside is an old bill of lading from Lawsonia Manufacturing Company in Philadelphia, noting it's sale of an"Exist. Possibly the Black Forest, but I'm no expert in these matters. Its age is unknown. The piece measures 73" high from floor to center of curved top piece. 74" wide and 18" deep. Construction is with mortise and tenon and pin and post. There are NO NAILS OR SCREWS used in its construction. The top and base are each single pieces. The end pieces are also single pieces. The back is comprised of three interlocking pieces. There are two doors at either end with three shelves and base top in each. The top center door reveals a single shelf. The two smaller doors have a single shelf and base. Loads of space. Carvings: Wonderfully ... morecarved as shown with a total of six deep-carved heads. Head at top of curve measures 5 1/2" high by 4 1/2" wide by 2 1/4" deep. Head on center door measures 4 3/4" high by 4 1/2" wide by 2" deep. Georgian Gentleman's Press/armoire with fitted drawers. Circa 1810. Looking for a piece to anchor your room? This antique.Beautiful, large mahogany 2 door wardrobe will satisfy the requirement. it measures 24" deep, 48" wide and 83" high and is not only roomy, but offers an organized space for storage. Breaks down into 3 sections for easier transport-bottom drawer, mid-section and'bonnet' or cornice. The case piece includes a fitted interior with solid wood. Dove-tailed drawers on the left, wardrobe for hanging clothing on the right supported by one wide drawer. Each drawer was designed for the gentleman's finer things, from hats and gloves to shirts and sweaters. Suits, skirts and dresses may be hung on the right. The press is lined with a finely woven. Printed, figured fabric featuring a celtic design, intertwining ... moreshapes in red and sepia on a cream background. The fabric has suffered one tear near the exterior edge of the compartment for hanging clothing. I believe it is reparable, the material is still'crisp' but there are signs of use where the fabric meets the opening. The overall condition of the press is good for its age of 200 years! It is a solid, heavy piece with little chips of the dark veneer missing from the base of the press. The interior wood finish is the color of rich honey; the exterior is brush-stroked a dark mahoghany over a warmer, lighter wood tone. All drawer pulls are original. We do have the pull for the bottom drawer; however. A dowel is needed in order to keep it in place. The lock is a working original one. It was described as a beautiful, precise lock by the locksmith who crafted the key. The press was imported to the U.S. from Dumfries. Scotland. It is an example of well-made furniture. STUNNING FRENCH ARMOIRE, BAROQUE, CARVED, MASSIVE, ANTIQUE, WALNUT, FRANCE
This absolutely stunning Baroque walnut armoire was purchased in Opio. France, 11 years ago by my husband and me. Our children are off to college, and we are downsizing, so we are selling a few of our larger pieces. Measures 96" tall. 86" wide, 28" deep. The armoire has two very large doors that swing open, and are secured with a metal antique key. The two drawers under the doors open for additional storage. Indicative of pieces from this era. There are not any'nuts and bolts' but instead the pieces fit together, and are secured and locked in place when the cornice is placed on top. I am happy to send additional photos. Late 19th century QUARTERSAWN oak ENGLISH armoire WARDROBE cabinet 81" h x 5' w
Very ornate& fancy 1880-1890 QUARTERSAWN oak armoire wardrobe cabinet. Most likely English. Huge hinges on doors. Gorgeous original varnish- very pretty- pictures DOD NOT do this piece justice. I had been using this cabinet for about 6-7 years as a TV cabinet- changing decor = your luck to own this BEAUTY! Measures 5' wide x 81" tall at center- has scalloped crown design- is 26" deep. Doors are 62" high x 23& 28" wide(one door has an overlap board! INTERIOR depth is 22" This piece can& will be delivered taken apart. The base& top screw into the side panels. see picture#9 for one of these screws. The back is two boards that slide into a groove. Once on steady even ground.
