$22.54 Shipping Location: DRIFFIELD, United Kingdom Up for auction is a Victorian majolica moulded tile- maker unknown. The tile is 6 inches(approx 15 cm) square. The tile is decorated in pleasant muted ... moretones of cream and brown. Together with an interesting hint of green/ blue colouration in the central foliage and highlighting the top corners. It has lovely shell and floral moulded decoration. I think this was probably a border tile given the decoration along the bottom edge. The tile is in good clean condition and would make a very interesting addition to any collection. There is a small chip to the top right corner and a little wear to top left and bottom right corners. There is a small chip to the bottom edge towards the left corner. As well as a couple of tiny nics to this edge. There is a little wear to the right edge in the top third. There are several specks of other colours within the glaze. And a few small areas where the brown colour is outside its designated area. These are all common manufacturing flaws in tiles of this age and style. Please enlarge photo to see tile in more detail) The surface of the tile has crazing all over commensurate with age. Which is a little darker in places. If you would like to see a fullsize photo. Get in touch and I'll email it to you. The reverse of the tile has no maker's marks. In short an interesting exmple of a Victorian border tile in nice condition at a bargain start price. This tile is heavy weighing approx 525g without any packaging material. Consequently a slightly higher postage& packing charge than my standard charge for 1 tile. Please check out the other tiles I have for sale.
