One of a set of six butterflies. Early tiles from the 1870s and representing the state of the art in decorated wall tiles. Made at Minton Hollins Patent Tile works but the legend verso omits the Patent Tile Works part so this made soon after the new tileworks was built using biscuit from the old works and the design registered. The design registration probably relates to the border as was common practice. Condition is very good. Rim chips are clearly visible but none impose excessively on the face of the tile which would be well framed as such designs are eminently suited. Half a dozen very tiny surface chips which for the most part is excellent with a clean bright glaze. These tiles tend to suffer wear and flaking to the enamels especially the pink and green but this has perfect colours, the lighter marks on the green are painting flaws. VICTORIAN `SPRING FLOWERS IN A SQUARE AND CIRCLE BORDER` TILE
This is an interesting Victorian transfer printed tile. It has a central square with stylized flowers surrounded by a circular border with more flowers and stems. It is 6 inches square and printed in shades of brown on a white ground. There are a couple of small nibbles on the bottom edge in the picture.The back has 6x6 embossed squares with a central 3x3 blank. There is a printed 249 in the centre.

Antique Art Nouveau, Victorian English Border Tiles - 1900s - 4 tiles
These are gorgeous antique tiles made in England likely in the early 1900s or late 1800s. These are really lovely with a nice glossy and crackly thick glaze finish. It was difficult to get the color to show up accurately. So I put a very red piece of paper next to them so you can see the color. I would call it pomegranate myself. They are in beautiful, but used, vintage, antique condition. Please read the condition description and review the photos. This auction is for 4 tiles that are red. Campbell Brick& Tile Co Victorian No. 44 Encaustic Floor Border EdgeTiles x 10 Mouse over images to see enlarged version Click to see supersized image Description and Condition This sale is for a set of 10 original floor tiles made by Campbell Brick and Tile Company in Stoke on Trent which had association with Mintons in around 1870/1880. The tiles are intended for floor use but could be used for a variety of purposes. The tiles are in reasonable condition for their vintage but there are some small nibbles and chips to the edges and corners both to fronts and undersides. However they are still very usable. Please see photo s for confirmation of condition. Size and Weight Size- Tiles are 14.5cm(5.75 inches) by 3.7cm(1.5 inches) It should be noted that the tile to the bottom left in the photo is slightly less in length. Weight- 1400g. A set of 4 Victorian Tiles. Transfer printed with flowers& border in brown- LT Marked to the rear"LT" ENGLAND" Size 15cm x 15cm(6x6" 9mm deep. Weight between 360-390grams each. I have included a number of photos and these probably describe the item better than I can and form part of the description. Condition: These are in super condition with only the odd small nibble to the edge and some light scratching. The odd mark mostly around the edge. Please see photos. This blue and white Victorian printed tile has a classical style pattern. It shows various stylized leaves within a rope border. It is 6 inches square and in good condition.
