hi up for sale a single victorian fireplace tile-with a chunk off two corners-please see photo. would be worth a frame though its areally nicely tinted transfer print quite a dainty 6x6 tile.Barely a scratch,really shiny there is a rub to the two other corners and a couple of older small shallow flakes off one edge. 87% clean on the back-slight roughness to th.e touch small grid pattern to reverse. feel free to ask sensible questions. postage is what it is.lots of bubblewrap.Tape,post office charges.and there is no point the tiles arriving broken. thanks for looking.

Probably late Victorian The t ile is 6 inches by 6 inches Th is is reclaimed and h as small imperfections as a consequence of being a totally authentic pre-used antique/vintage piece. There is a small amount of residual grout on the reverse. There are extremely small chips to the rim. Probably imper cept i ble once refitted. I shall ship with My Hermes. Victorian era 1880's Art Tile made by the J+ JG Low Art Tile Works of Chelsea.Ma. Marked on the back, This tile measures 6" x 6" x 1/2" thick High relief acanthus with a central flower. DEEP caramel glaze.Virtually black in the deep recesses, with contrasting light caramel on the high relief acanthus leaves. A few scattered nicks tosome high points of the flower petals,but the tile shows very well and these go mostly unnoticed. A scratch on the back and chip/porous area near the back corner do not affect the structural integrity of teh tile.Signed,with the less often seen Low back design,usually reserved for tiles that they produced for 3rd parties. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN PROVIDENTIAL TILE FIREPLACE SURROUND portrait tiles
The sale is for this gorgeous antique tile surround that was made by the New Jersey Providential Tile company in the late 1800's. The picture is a shortened version of the surround. There are quite a few more of the mottled tiles. It is in good condition and is comprised of the 2 corner portrait tiles and the rest are 6x1.5 inch and 3 x 1.5 inch tiles. Very few or none of the mottled tiles should need to be cut for the surround. There is some residual mortar and the portrait tiles have a few edge abrasions(please see closeup pictures) The most common surround would be 30" high and across. If you need more tiles for your fireplace surround I can flesh out this design with the mottled tiles. I have many antique tiles listed.

This listing is for a set of six antique tiles from the PROVIDENTIAL TILE WORKS TRENTON. N.J. They are caramel/ brown in color. And range slightly in tint. They measure 4 3/16" 4 1/4" square and 7/16" 1/2" thick at the edge(thicker at the pattern) All six are unused and have no mortar. They all show crazing, wear from stacking, and some small chips/flakes. Look at all photos carefully- as they are my main description. 2" Antique MINTON HOLLINS& CO Fireplace Relief Tile 1860-1890 Victorian Moulded This is a lovely little tile from Minton. Hollins& Co. Circa 1860s-1890s. It is a brown relief tile from a fireplace. It features a pretty pinecone-like design. This tile bears an impressed circular insignia on reverse: MINTON, HOLLINS& Co. Inside of the circle is the number 2I2 with EB beneath. There is a P outside the circle on the right bottom corner and a X sign in the lower left corner. In 1845. Herbert Minton took Michael Daintry Hollins into partnership. And the tile-making side of the business became known as Minton Hollins& Co. Herbert Minton's successful experiments in making encaustic tiles during the 1840s( Encaustic tiles are ceramic tiles with a decoration made of different colours of clay inlaid into the surface. A method ... moreoriginally produced in the middle ages) this had put him at the forefront of a huge industry supplying the requirments of institutions, churches, and domestic interiors all over the world. Description This is a beautiful antique tile from American Encaustic Tiling Co. Circa 1878-1933. This tile would have been around the fireplace or floor in front of the fireplace. This tile is embossed on reverse: A.E.T. C o. LIMITED and No.l Condition is very good to excellent. No cracks. No chips to the face. It does have superficial surface scratches. There are two chips on the back. It has a very shiny mirror-like finish. It was very difficult to photograph due to reflection. This auction is for a huge lot of antique circa 1890 AETCO tiles. The area that is being covered in the photo is 44' x 20' with many of the tile sitting on top of field tile. These were all removed from one hearth. The field tile are beautiful. With very hard to find triangle tiles and other decorative tiles in the center. 4x4 Antique Floral Picture Tile Ceramic Majolica Fireplace Bathroom Kitchen Wall
Penn Antique Restoration. Pair of Antique 4"x4" Ceramic Floral Tiles. Wonderful. Antique, ceramic tiles salvaged from Northeastern Pennsylvania. Each tile has a picture of a yellow rose sprouting from a blue pot. Both have subtle crazing in their pictures I'm not sure if the tile was made by Minton. Meakin, Kensington, or another famous manufacturer, however, they are certainly old and good quality. Each tile still has some cement on the back from where they were removed. You could soak the back portions in water and then carefully chisel the concrete off. Or you could use a Dremel with a grind stone or cutting blade instead. One tile is as close to mint condition as could be considering it's age. And the other just has 3 small chips along it's bottom edge, which will be hard to notice once installed.
