Up for auction is a Majolica Art Nouveau moulded tile maker unknown. The tile measures approx 6 inches(15 cms) square. This tile has a fabulous large image depicting a single stylised flower in a deep pink/ reddish colour with a mustard coloured centre together with swirling stems& stylised leaves. This tile has a fabulous large central image depicting a stylised flower(possibly a rose in bud) with associated foliage the latter arranged in beautiful sinuous shapes so typical of the art nouveau period. This is a antique Edith Cockroft signed ceramic tile that measures 6 1/8" x 6 1/8" x 3/8" The tile is painted with a blue flower.I believe it is a bluebell. The colors are blue. Yellow and green against white background. The edge of the tile is signed, Cockroft" There is a protective brown felt backing on the backside. The felt is in shabby condition, but is intact. The tile is sound and without cracks but there are some chips on the edges as would be expected from an item of this age. Please review my photos where I show all sides. Antique transfer printed tile flower Corn Brothers?
This tile has no maker’s mark but the type of blank and style of number look similar to Corn Brothers’ tiles of the late 1800s. It is decorated with a transfer printed flower in brown. The back of the tile is clean and is marked 249. It is 6 inches square. The tile is crazed but otherwise very good with no cracks or scratches and just a couple of fleabites. The tile will be packaged securely in bubblewrap/polystyrene and robust cardboard. The packaged weight is 750g. Antique German Tile Set Pink Flower Framed MOPF Vorm
These antique tiles. Including the frame, measure 11 5/8" x 6" The frame is silver metal, backed by wood, with an opening to show the marks on the back of the tile that identify them as VORM MOPF. The tiles have a wonderful striking appearance. There are some flaws, along the edges of the tile, for example. The chips don't seem so noticeable as the clay underneath the glaze is also white. I didn't even realize they were there for a very long time, but now that I do seem them, I have to mention them. There are also some areas on the bottom tile that have what might be a little kiln debris fired right into the tile. I've added closeups to you can tell what I'm talking about.
