Up for auction is a pretty Victorian Print& Tint floral tile maker unknown. This tile has a large central printed design depicting roses in a circle they have been hand finished in red/ pink& yellow and the leaves in green. The print is in a brown colour and there are nice quarter circles. Highlighted in yellow, decorating the 4 corners with abstract patterns. The surface of the tile has a nice glossy finish. Antique Art Nouveau Edwardian Yellow & Green Majolica Tile - Corn Brothers ?
Up for auction is an Art Nouveau Edwardian Majolica Tile probably made by Corn Brothers. The tile is 6 inches(approx 15 cm) square. It is decorated with a stylised central image in yellow and green depicting stylised flowerheads. Stems and leaves. All on a cream background. The tile has a lovely glossy majolica finish to the surface. Unfortunately as you can see this tile has the top left corner missing. However it would display well with sensitive framing or could perhaps be used in a project where a part tile was required. Apart from the missing corner there is also a bit of minor chipping/ nibbling affecting the left and bottom edges. There are a couple of tiny marks to the surface towards the lower right corner. And a tiny dark mark below the central image towards the left. The surface of the tile has overall crazing commensurate with ... moreage& the odd scratch. There are a few small areas where the colours are outside their designated areas a common manufacturing flaw in tiles of this period and style. Please enlarge photo to see tile in more detail. Three beautiful vintage(mid-century) Italian tiles. These have been used as trivet for the last forty years. Two of them are without any chips or cracks. One has a couple of small chips on the edge(See photo) There tiles have a beige background. This background is divided up into 9 rectangles by blue lines. In each rectangle. There is a blue and yellow abstract floor. The blue is speckled to look like the ocean. The yellow is a goldenrod color.

This tile was probably made by Wedgwood. Etruria, Stoke on Trent around 1890. The pattern is quartered with moulded yellow roses in two corners. The tile is 6 inches square. There is the odd tiny nibble on two corners but these are not serious. The back is the same as that used by the Wedgwood factory. see picture#2)

Included in this auction is a nice lot of never used vintage 1960's or 70's ceramic tile made by H&R Johnson in England. There are 26 tiles in excellent condition with no chips. 11 with chips ranging from tiny corner chips to larger chips, and 1 partial tile. They measure 4 5/16th inches square and are marked on the back as shown. The color is a pretty, pale butter yellow. I've shown them against a white tile so you can see the contrast. The marbling on them is different on each tile and look so real.
