Installed in house around 1901 in the Kansas City Area. There are over 1015 field pieces plus halves. Thirds, and broken pieces for edging. 18 pieces per square foot. Total square feet is around 57 of good field tile and 35 plus feet of edging tiles. Original Bathroom was 12x17 feet. Majority of tiles were removed in good shape. These are salvaged tiles. Some will have flea bites on edges and some will have thin mortar on edges. Original spacing was 1/16th inch. Edges should be cleaned prior to installation. These are flat tiles. The tiles are intended for floor use but could be used for a variety of purposes. The tiles are in reasonable condition for their vintage but there are some small nibbles and chips to the edges and corners both to fronts and undersides. However they are still very usable. Mid Century Modern Atomic Orange Crackle Vintage NOS Negev Ceramic Floor Tile
Originally bought at a government surplus auction for our home. I have no idea the age of this tile. The company is still in business and well regarded. Atomic orange with a red vein that would look killer alone or checker boarded with black. Each tile measures 4” x 8” and there are 490 new tiles in this lot. Antique Maw & Co English Encaustic Quarry Floor Tile 9'6" x 4'
English. Maw& Co. encaustic" floor tiles(pattern made of different colors of inlaid clay-also called quarry tiles I believe) from front entrance of historic New Hampshire home. Probably ~100 years old. Finish has dulled over time but in generally good condition. Removed in renovation so sub floor could be replaced. Grout had dried out so tiles came up without tools and were therefore not damaged. Though as pictures show, a few were previously removed or cut for radiator pipes. 9'6" x 4' pattern. 1/2" thick Pick up in Exeter NH(free. Lot of 10 encaustic floor tiles made by the mosaic tile company of Zanesville Ohio. Marked on the backs with a bold logo. Each measures 6 in.² and a full 5/8" thick. Stylized acanthus with a pixelated look. Unglazed. Encaustic tiles are made with different colored clay. These tiles were never installed but there are some with chips and some are dirty. I've taken a photo of each individual tile. Shipping: These are very heavy tiles at about two lbs each. I am figuring the shipping in two medium flat rate boxes. If you live in the northeast. Antique Classic Design Victorian Floor Tile American Encaustic Tile Co c1900 Description: This is a beautiful 4 1/4 inch square American Encaustic Co. tile dating. I would guess, to the late 1800s or early 1900s. I don't have documentation, but it was removed from the floor of the U.S. capitol building during a renovation in the 1920s-40s period. My first wife's grandfather was a capitol maintenance engineer and had several of these tiles. The replacement tiles in the capitol look exactly like this. The tile is in very good condition with some surface scratches and chips on the back. The shipping weight is 1 pound 8 ounces. Auctions can be combined to save on shipping.
