Antique Tile; Depicts Oriental Chinese Scene of Sand-pans type boats with homes on the hill in the background and decorative scrolling at the corners. Very Old- Marked Mintons- China Works- Stoke on Trent Has roughness. Chips, chipping and nudges on the corners and edges. Has scratches on the surface and loss of color. Has a firing crack and/or cracks on the bottom middle and on the right in the middle. In the bottom right corner you will see a dark area- that is just dirt. Description The sale is for 36 of these antique tiles and are from the late 1800's. They are 4.25" square and have a raised design. They are in very good condition with some very small abrasions to the high points(on some) and an pleasing all over crazing that almost all antique tiles have. I very recently sold this identical design with less bold colors(light green replacing the blue) This was the buyer's comment: Great item. Accurately described, combined/free shipping, great seller! Available here is a set of encaustic fireplace tiles made by Trent Company. There are 11 six inch tiles with a floral/vine/three leaf clover pattern. Included in the tiles are 2 corner tiles. One top center tile and one end"L" tiles. shown in center) Beautiful colors of aqua and brown. Color change can be arranged differently if desired. Colors are much more pretty than photos depict. All of the tiles exhibit crazing consistent with age. They have very little to no concrete grout on the back. They are all marked“TRENT” on the back. When placed together correctly. The floral/vine tiles form a continuous flowing pattern. There is one tile with small chips no bigger than 1/4” near the edge. Other than that the tiles are in good condition with no major issues. A very nice antique Trent high relief portrait tile of a young man with long curly locks and a high ruffled collar. The golden majolica glaze has a beautiful soft shine. There are no white spots or lines on this tile. Any white spots. Lines, or wavy areas are just from camera glare. This tile is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks. There is fine clear crazing. The back of the tile is marked TRENT in raised lettering. The tile measures 3" by 3" square. ANTIQUE Trent PORTRAIT TILE ~ gorgeous blue ~ 6x6 ~ HIGHLY raised design~Framed
The sale is for this Trent antique portrait tile with a VERY highly raised design. This is one of the most desirable Trent portrait tiles. I have not removed it from the frame but I am quite familiar with this tile. It will be unmarked with a concave image of the face on the back of the tile. It appears that someone colored(brown) which I suspect are some abrasions to the high points of the glaze. If it were removed you would have unglazed abrasions which would be difficult to notice and a more homogeneous look if that is preferred. Please zoom in on the pictures to see. The frame is deep and quite ornate but is damaged in the lower left hand corner. The tile alone is 6x6 inches. I have many antique tiles listed and many of them the very desirable portrait tiles.
