Up for auction is a pretty Victorian Print& Tint floral tile maker unknown. This tile has a large central printed design depicting roses in a circle they have been hand finished in red/ pink& yellow and the leaves in green. The print is in a brown colour and there are nice quarter circles. Highlighted in yellow, decorating the 4 corners with abstract patterns. The surface of the tile has a nice glossy finish. They are from an old home in the heart of Chicago that I purchased over 25+ years ago. They are exactly as I purchased them. always plans to use them! carried them with me to four different houses! All were found in basement cellar. Once installed in fireplace surround I am sure. The tiles found were not a complete surround. There are different leaf& Floral leaf design motifs. In the style of William De Morgan. Very beautiful and bold. These tiles are AMAZING! The pictures are so difficult to take as the copper lustre and reflecting glaze mirrors reflections. This tile is moulded in low relief to appear tube lined. It shows a beautiful red rose on a white ground. The tile is 6 inches square. There is some staining on the bottom corners and some around the right edge. The back of the tile is shown in picture#2

Vintage Handpainted 6" English Candy Tile - Bird / Red Grouse -Signed / Monogram
Description Vintage handpainted 6 inch tile. Depicting a couple of red grouse. It is painted on an English Candy tile, measuring approx 9mm thick- the back is largely obscured, but it's the same tile manufacturer as the other bird tiles I have listed at present. There is a monogram to the bottom right corner- possibly OR. It has some age to it, although I'm not certain of exact date. In very good overall condition, with no chips or cracks. There are a few minor surface scratches. The back does still have some concreted tile adhesive.

Measuring 6" x 6" this Beautiful tile was designed by CP Sutcliffe- a company which designed tiles at their Broughton factory between 1895 and 1901 for Maw& Co! The verso features the markings'THE BROUGHTON' ACC' H'to signify the makers as CP Sutcliffe- see below The stunning Pumpkin design sets off the striking single coloured finish of this relief molded tile- its unusual to find a tile in this deep red and it's also hard to find examples of CP Sutcliffe's work. EIGHT*GORGEOUS! Maw Tile Company. Red& Copper Lustre. 1870's. They are from an old home in the heart of Chicago that I purchased over 25+ years ago. They are exactly as I purchased them. always plans to use them! carried them with me to four different houses! All were found in basement cellar. Once installed in fireplace surround I am sure. The tiles found were not a complete surround. There are different leaf& Floral leaf design motifs. Most likely designed by William De Morgan. Very beautiful and bold. These tiles are AMAZING! The pictures are so difficult to take as the copper lustre and reflecting glaze mirrors reflections. Each Tile measures 6" x 6" and is 3/8" thick. There are surface scratches and crazing. This Art Nouveau tile was made around 1893-1900 by the Minton China Works. Stoke on Trent. The design is typically Art Nouveau with stylized flowers and leaves. The tile is 6 inches square and in good condition. An example of this tile is shown in `Victorian Ceramic Tiles` by Julian Barnard plate 50. Description You are bidding on a Vintage Tile! Tile measur es approx a little over 2" wide x a little over 2" tall x 1/4" thick! Tile came from an old salesman sample and is a Sunset Exacto Spacer Tile from Orange County Ceramic Tile MFG Company. Information is on the box(box and green sheet not included. Tile only) On the back of the tile it says'805 Sunset OCT Exacto' Looking at the green sheet the color 805 is called'Red(Burgundy) it is a really dark red. The tile has been in storage for a while and has wear mostly seen as red spots along the edge from being made and the raised words on the back are chipped off in some places(please see pictures) Overall in Good condition for its age! Here we have a lovely example of a stylised and extremely rare William De Morgan 6"Rose and Daisy tile in relief painted in Ruby red and golden lustre.A rare experimental piece by Halsey Ricardo based on a design from the early Chelsea period,but dating from Early Fulham Period,complete with Sands End mark for Early Fulham,1888-1897.For a similar design please see William De Morgan Tiles by Jon Catleugh,page 61,top right. This tile is ex Peter Creffield collection who was a good friend of Jon Catleugh and had a remarkable collection of Arts and Crafts tiles.If you knew or knew of Peter he used to do his own kind of repairs etc,this is one of those that has been touched in on the bottom right hand corner,all of which to me adds to the charm and story of this tile. Clearly a design for a frieze but with appeal as a stand-alone tile especially with these colours. The burgundy is very good and the tonal tan and yellow makes for appealing flowerheads. Well decorated apart from misses of the red at the rim, Boote not always the best at glaze painting and reds seem to attract a larger proportion of firing flaws, all in all an excellent example of this design, great for those whose favourite colour is red or to achieve colour balance ... morein a decorative scheme.
