This is a beautiful antique art tile. It was made. Probably around 1900 at the Boch Frères Kéramis factory. The factory was founded by Victor Boch in 1841 in La Louvière in Belgium. This green tile has a central pair of wild roses with beautiful acanth us leaf borders. The green gla ze has pooled into deeper areas of the tile and created gorg eo us depth in color. The tile has an iridescent sheen to it. Showing off cobalt, aqua, and violet! It is one of many we have purchased from a collector of anti que ti les. Antique Vintage Mosaic Tile Company Blue Ceramic Wall Heater 1920's
This electric wall heater was removed from a home that was built in the 1920's. I'm not sure if it was working when removed. Since the power was already cut to the house. It appears that th e small filaments are broken that run through the ceramic. So I'm thinking that it would need to be repaired to actually be used a s a hea ter again. However. I have seen folks take out the heat ing element and make a recessed magazine holder out of them. There is a metal grate that fits into the openings o f these units. And it is missing on this one. The cover is made of 2 large tiles that fit tog ether. And they are in great shape with no cracks and just a few tiny chips near one of the mounting holes. There is just some discoloration from where the wire grate sat. And there is also some color variation in the glaze. These'MTC' pieces ... moreof that time had a bit of variation in the color which makes for a hand-glazed look. The f inish is matte. The chrome around the control knob is rusty. But the knob itself is in great shape with no chips or cracks. Dimensions are: co mplete cover size is 18"L X 15 1/4" W-housin g front is 17"L X 14 1/4"W-housing depth is 3" Thanks for looking. Victorian Antique Ceramic Tile Large IRIS 1902 - 1909 Made in England Richards
Here is a white tile with brown art work from the Victorian Era(the close up photo is closest to the actual color) It has a large picture of an Iris and its buds and leaves. It is a 6" by 6" tile. Marked England on the back. There are also numbers on the back: 5050(in red) 0, and 91. There is a piece of paper taped on the back that gives this information: H. Richards 1902- 09. The dates 1902- 09 is also written in pencil on the back. The on damage that I can see is a chip on a petal of one of the side flowers. It is the one on the right as you look at the picture. Again, please look at the close up photo to see it. It blends in on the larger pictures, but it is there. Please look carefully at the photos for the best idea of condition and design. This would look so pretty framed or as a place to set hot pans. Truly elegant! This ... morewill not be sent in an envelope. This tile weighs almost 13 ounces(unpacked) I have been asked about the high shipping fee for expedited shipping and I know as a buyer. I put a figure for weight to cover a range of weights because the boxes weigh so much and I might find a sturdier yet stronger box in which to pack the item after I list it, so my prices can't be absolute. Victorian art tile made by the Columbia Encaustic Tile Co. of Anderson.Indiana.Marked on the back. This tile measures 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" x 1/2" thick. Central flower with botanicals in a mint green and ochre glaze. Columbia tiles do not come up for sale very often and the"encaustic" part of their name may mean that that is what they primarily produced-unglazed encaustic tiles.This tile has a"hole" at the bottom right. It was a very dark spot that I ran underwater and it slowly dissolved and left this mark. No doubt a piece of organic material that made it's way onto the surface of the tileduring production and burned into the tile. A few other chips on the right side as seen in photos as well as a few edge indents that are factory done and glazed over. A scarce tile nonetheless! Anatolia to Central Asia. 11th- 13th Century I.Iridescent Seljuk Star Tile 1.The Sejuks ruled from Central Asia, through Iran, Iraq, Syria south to Mecca& eastern Anatolia, during the eleventh to twelfth centuries. Several dynasties of Turkish origin created unique Islamic art forms now referred to as Seljuk art. Amongst their achievements was production of cobalt blue& luster ware potteries. Thank you for looking at our listing. We are offering for auction. A very unusual antique tile. The tile is framed in an oak frame. The tile itself measures, 5 1/2" X 5 1/2" The way the back has been sealed. I'm reluctant to open it up, but I can clearly see the tile is red, and is at least 1/2" thick. This handsome tile displays 6 different colors of hand painted tiles. There are no visible chips or cracks. I'm sorry. I'm not better informed about this piece, I have had it for over twenty years. ANTIQUE. VICTORIAN, RECLAIMED, MINTON, CERAMIC TILE Attractive Minton tile with a central bloom surrounded by a floral and scrolled design. That repeats in each quadrant, in shades of red on a cream background Back of tile. Which has five horizontal ribs, is clearly marked MINTONS over CHINA WORKS over STOKE ON TRENT over MADE IN ENGLAND. The trade mark globe is partially obscured with bonding/fixing. But it has the word MINTON in the central band and STOKE upon TRENT in an arc over the globe and WALBROOK LONDON in an arc under the globe. There is also a printed number 2663 this is preceded by a mark that is not readable. Marks probably date the tile to the early 1900’s. Tile is about 6 1/16 inches(154mm) by 6 1/16 inches(154mm) by 3/8 inch(10mm) thick Tile weighs about 15.5 oz(439 grams) The tile is not cracked. The front is evenly crazed ... moreand the top edges are in good condition. There are two narrow bands across the tile where the pattern has been locally& partially erased, but this happened during manufacture as it is all under-glaze– the crazing in the glazing can clearly be seen over the erased areas. There are also three very, very small black marks, but again these occurred during manufacture as they are under the glaze and are so small they hardly show in the photos. Back of tile is relatively clean. There are two edge chips, but one of these happened during manufacture, as it is under-glaze. Neither extends through to the front edge– see photos. Penn Antique Restoration. Pair of Antique 4"x4" Ceramic Floral Tiles. Wonderful. Antique, ceramic tiles salvaged from Northeastern Pennsylvania. Each tile has a picture of a yellow rose sprouting from a blue pot. Both have subtle crazing in their pictures I'm not sure if the tile was made by Minton. Meakin, Kensington, or another famous manufacturer, however, they are certainly old and good quality. Each tile still has some cement on the back from where they were removed. You could soak the back portions in water and then carefully chisel the concrete off. Or you could use a Dremel with a grind stone or cutting blade instead. One tile is as close to mint condition as could be considering it's age. And the other just has 3 small chips along it's bottom edge, which will be hard to notice once installed. This is a beautiful. Fun and fabulous antique tile measuring 5.3/8 inches square. I live in a victorian townhouse in the art museum area of Philadelphia. When we were insulating the walls on either side of our fireplace, we found this behind the wall many years ago. It is a funny scene of two drunken men in a donkey accident. The colors are beautiful and vivid! There is only a very very tiny bit of crazing in the bottom left which is even difficult to see. The edges are a bit nicked as you can see in the photos. Antique 3/8"Thick(10mm) Victorian Ceramic Tile with Basket of Flowers Sized 6”x 6”152mm x 152mm) Approx weight 450 grams. It has little 10mm feet on the underside and can be used as a stand. There is a tiny 2mm x 3mm x 1mm deep nick to the bottom left hand corner and a couple on the underside(see the pictures) but otherwise in very good condition. Up for auction is an Antique green and yellow floral Majolica ceramic tile C1900. It measure 6" square. It is marked England on the center of the back with an R in one corner and the number 40 in the opposite corner. This tile has never been set. It is in very good antique condition. No chips or cracks, however it does have surface crazing from age. Thank you for looking and good luck should you decide to bid.
