2 Ornate Carved Furniture Pediment Victorian Neoclassical Cabinet Crest Carving
2 antique carved headers. Great accent pieces straight from the Victorian era. One looks like oak. The other may be mahogany, but not certain. Top one has a raised beveled cornice across the top and nice fluted center carving. Other one has recessed panels left and right with leafy carving on a textured background. Larger one measures approx. 37 inches by 7 1/4 inches. Other one measures approx. 32 1/2 by 5 1/4 inches. Both show age/wear with a chip and slight cracking to applied carving. Beautiful single window lintel from a Queen Anne Victorian home. Features 2 large ruffled fan corbels with sunbursts in the middle. And a row of 6 shingles that raps around the top to create a gingerbread or"Wedding Cake" look. The piece is missing one piece of trim from the right side(the left side is detached, but present) and the four buttons from the front shingles are also missing. The piece needs to be stripped, sanded, and regaled to have an original look, but has a great cottage look as is. Wooden Eagle Pediments Pair of 2 Antique Architectural Federal Era Hand Carved
For your Early American Eagle collection or architectural restoration project we have a Pair of Two Wooden Eagle Pediments Antique Architectural Federal Era Birds that are Hand Carved in the early 1800's. These were recently mounted on iron stands for display. Using the original holes which go through from the top to the bottom in two places on each pair to host the iron rods that they are now fixed onto. Fairly substantial in size, each of these facing eagles actually measures 10" high x 13 1/2" wide x 1 1/4" deep(thick) and are ready for display on these stands that bring them up to 13" tall. Together they weigh 8 pounds 3.5 ounces including the iron stand. They show their age from alligatored varnish and a deepened patina to the wood. These look like they may have been painted over at one time. And have been dry ... morescraped to remove the paint. They have age cracks to the wood, including one that goes straight through the neck of one bird, yet have retained their aesthetic historic value and decorative appeal. The wood these are carved from is a very dense, hard wood. Hand carved eagle figures are still considered the epitome of collectible American folk art pieces and are generally associated with the Federal style era in architectural design. Which is a period that ranges from 1780 to 1830, appearing most commonly on frames, furniture, building ornamentation, and as motifs throughout the making of textiles and American advertising ephemera. To continue, Federal-style architecture is the name for the classic architecture built in North America between c. 1780 and 1830. And particularly from 1785 to 1815. This style shares its name with its era, the Federal Period. The name Federal style is also used in association with furniture design in the United States of the same time period. They are made of solid wood and have openwork in the center with applied leaves on the sides. Each lovely crest measures approximately 14 1/2" across x 9 1/4" high(not including the dowels on the bottom) x 1 3/16" thick. The wood appears to have the original patina with some scratches to the surface finish. One of them(see photo) is missing the rosette in the middle and the wood is separating at the top and needs to be glued down(see photo) There must have been something else on the very top, because there is a dowel hole on the top of each one(see photo) Everything else looks great on these wonderful old pediments! This is an Eastlake-style pediment and my best guess is that it's off a dresser or a mirror. It is carved and the arch is an applique. It appears to be made of cast iron and is dark green in color with a spray of pink, blue, and white flowers across the top. It has rust spots in several areas across the front and back which truly add to the vintage, shabby-chic" style. It is approximately 7 inches high, 6 inches wide at longest point, and 1/2 inch thick across at the base. There are two holes close to the top where you can put screws or nails if you want to hang it on a wall. VINTAGE(circa 1890-1900) GOTHIC STYLE CHANCEL SCREEN: This is a beautifully carved section of a heavy oak Church chancel screen. The piece is made up of a wide base rail. With a vertical section at each end, that has been joined with a dentiled top sub-rail section. The Gothic style shaping and carving is of high quality. It is very easy to see that the chancel screen was built with great care and high levels of workmanship(please note that the joints between the top section and vertical balustrade end sections did not originally match.These joints were purposely left with shims) Each side of the piece is similar in construction and finish. The heavy wide bottom rail has three hand carved oak leaf bosses on each side of the piece. The wood used to make this screen was very heavy and dense'old world' oak. It is in gorgeous condition, has no damage what so ever aside from a crack at the right hand bottom under accent piece,it is very hard to notice and very easily fixed as no wood is missing and it is a very small clean crack. also, mirror has the most trivial of hazing but it really is faint, mirror is absolutely original, you can see that it has not been replaced or tinkered with at all. hinges to case are perfect and lid moves as it should, perfectly! nothing is loose or wobbly. ... moreI threw in a few items inside just to show scale and how much stuff you really can fit inside case. i see no real scratches, dings, dents, or any other issues to mention, everything looks perfect and as is, as the day it was made most likely over 100 years ago.anything that may look like a blemish is probably just dust or glare. it also does not weigh very much at all. i have it hanging on the wall with just one plastic push pin, though there is not much inside it, i would obviously advise to use something stronger for permanent hanging like a nail. top to bottom a very gorgeous early eastlake piece. ARCHITECTURAL ANTIQUE : VINTAGE CARVED EASTLAKE CREST
VINTAGE HAND CARVED EASTLAKE DESIGN CREST: Very nicely carved Eastlake crest. The two pieces of this mahogany crest were found two years apart. Unfortunately one small section of the bottom of the shield could not be found. The overall design of the crest is a very good example of Eastlake style carving with gold enamel inlay to highlight the carved areas. The two original finials are in place.The center panel on the shield is of a lighter color than the main body of the shield. Which is mahogany in color. This crest is a'survivor' give a new home on a wall in your home. The crest is approx. 13" tall x 12 1/2" wide x 2 1/4" deep.
