Rare Signed Hitchcock Chair Co. Crown Top, Crown Back Chair
You are bidding on a rare signed Hitchcock Chair Co. crown top. Crown back rush bottom chair. The chair is done in black with the gold stenciling and has the swirled grain painting accents. The chair is very sturdy and the rush bottom seat is in very good shape, there is the usual nicks and dings to the paint as well as some paint loss on the crown back as pictured. This is a rare find from Hitchcock and would be a great addition to any home or collection.

Outstanding 1870's painted Philadelphia Pediment
Up for auction is a one highly carved 1870's Walnut Pediment out of Philadelphia. Pediment is 39" long in total. 28"2/10" long at bottom,15" tall and has a 4.25" deep profile. Pediment is painted with silver paint and has a k splash of black paint on top. Pediment is in nice shape and is 39" long at longest point, paintcartouche/ crest. This carved cartouche/Crest was most likely from a Victorian Headboard. If you need a very nice period embellishment for your bed or Victorian project. look no further. They have the appearance of wooden bell pulls. The pair are tall and measure 29" in height. They are 4.5" at their widest measurement and they extend 2.5" from the wall. They are in very good condition. They have plastic wall hangers which have been a replacement at some point as the original holes are underneath. This would be spectacular in your garden or placed above a grand entrance gate or doorway. It is beautifully done. I have had this for decades and hard times force me to sell very reluctantly as I know this is such a rare find. I was told by the widow that I bought it from. Which was in her garden at the time.that her husband brought it down from atop an old historic Chicago hotels very detailed front archway facade entrance during a remodeling. Sometime within the 1940's-60's. I don't know the actual production date of manufacture although there are many markings on it which might aid someone in narrowing down the artisans plant or kiln factory. They had removed each section.Piece by piece and he managed to talk his foreman into letting him place it into the back of his late 40's sedan car. ANTIQUE CARVED PEDIMENT CREST Striking antique Victorian carved walnut dresser. Mirror or bed pediment crest measuring 28-1/2" long, about 16" tall and about 1-5/8" deep at the thickest point. Featuring simple carved and stylized graduated arms on each side edge, center is finished with two incised leaves around a tiered floral mount- an applied crown or crest completes the top. The peak is pierce carved with a charming heart design- crest is made of two pieces that are block mounted with an overlap creating an almost three-dimensional effect. Small Fancy Primitive Antique Carved Wood Architectural Pediment Piece We traveled an hour and a half South into central Illinois for a football game this week. And I took the opportunity of going treasure hunting in the cornfields. I found a surprising variety– there’s something for everyone this week! Here is a lovely small antique wood pediment piece for you. It's fancy. Yet primitive shabby at the same time. In excellent solid and sturdy condition, it has very worn and chippy paint- you can see white under the current coat and honestly, it's so dirty, it's hard to tell if the current coat is tan, or if it's white and just covered with dirt and dust- please see my photos and what you think. It really needs a good bath, and I do not clean or mess with as found patina in any way. It measures 5" wide at the base, 4" ... morewidest at the carved wood top, 7 1/4" tall and 1 1/2" deep at the sides. It weighs just over 1/2 lb. It's solid, carved wood and it's beautiful. As you can see in my photos, the bottom is not painted on the front and back, and the sides of the base were never painted either. You can see one small hole on the front left- I am guessing it's from where/how it was mounted. The paint is very chippy and crackly and worn all over- yummy! The chairs are done in black with the gold stenciling and have the swirled grain painting accents. The chairs are very sturdy and the rush bottom seats are in very good shape, there are the usual nicks and dings to the paint as well as some paint loss. The chairs are 17 3/4" wide x 17 1/4" deep x 35 1/2" high; and the seat is 18 3/4" high. These are a rare find from Hitchcock and would be a great addition to any home or collection. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN TIN WINDOW VALANCES ~ SET OF 3 ~ This auction is for a set of 3 beautiful antique Victorian French style window valances. I believe they are made of tin as they are very pliable and can bend and also be unbent easily. The tin is mounted onto a same shape piece of wood behind it for stability. This is a matching set of 3 although one of them has the center medallion piece missing. Each valance is mounted on 1" thick wood behind it with the hardware to attach it to the walls. They are not in perfect condition. They need a little bit of unbending and moving about a bit and then 2 of them will be pretty close to perfect antique condition. The third one does have the center medallion piece missing which isn't obvious when it stands alone, only alongside the other two do you notice it. 39.25" long 12" tall 4.25" deep OK. Folks, this is a once in a lifetime yummy yummy element. I imagine it was the top of something- a door opening perhaps? Someone has rigged a wire at the back for hanging- OK, that's an obvious option. In the 2nd picture, I flipped it around upside down. Imagine it as the underside of a shelf, shallow or as deep as you like. It could be in an entryway, hung high, deep enough for setting several hats and with a hook or 2 for hanging coats. Hang it lower with a mirror mounted over it and you have an entry table. VERY upscale hung high in a bath for freshly folded towels. GORGEOUS ANTIQUE LARGE SOLID WALNUT HAND CARVED FURNITURE PEDIMENT
Up for bid is a very large. Solid walnut, antique furniture pediment. Believed to be from the mid to late 19th century this beautifully hand carved pediment could be just the piece you've been looking for to compliment that project waiting in your shop. The pediment stands 25" high x just under 59" in length x 4-1/4" deep. There are a few minor chips, scuff areas or missing carving near the top, shown in the pictures as a lighter wood, probably a part that was recent damage, prior to my purchase. The lower portion as I show in the 11th picture, on the rear of the pediment, also has some minor damage, but it is on the back edge and less noticeable. The panels, with incised carved that flank the center carving, maybe a burled walnut veneer, so with a little light elbow grease, perhaps this piece after some clean up, could ... moreshow those panels off a little better. Maximum thickness is 3" wood appears to be walnut but unknown- may have topped a large piece of furniture or wall item as the distance between inside of mortise joints is only 29 ½ inches- estimated vintage late 1890s to early 1900s(nails used appear to be wire nails. Not cut nails) purchased from an estate sale. Finely detailed. Cast iron pediment featuring swirls of oak leaves, branches and acorns. Each of the leaves measure about 5" long and each of the four acorns are 1 3/4" long. Would look great over a door or window, or over a mirror or picture. It's unpainted; just nicely polished metal. All cast iron. Superb 16thc early Black Forest oak carved heraldic pediment with carved lettering H ALOYSIUS to crest. A fine early Black Forest oak pediment with crest to centre. On the crest- now very age worn- the lettering H ALOYSIUS can be deciphered. Ornate scrolling acanthus leaves decorating around the crest and to the ends of the pediment. There is also some faint traces of gilding visible in places. Historic woodworm to pediment is in evidence. Stunning Victorian Era 1800s Antique Carved Wood Pediment Over Mantel Mirror? We traveled an hour and a half South into central Illinois for a football game this week. And I took the opportunity of going treasure hunting in the cornfields. I found a surprising variety– there’s something for everyone this week! The best word to describe this one is AWESOME! I took one look at it. And it stopped my in my tracks. I don't know if it is a part from a piece of furniture, or an architectural piece- but my guess is latter. It looks like some type of small over mantel or maybe over a mirror or hall tree. It's a stunning fancy Victorian era pediment that will be yours to decide, though. made of solid wood with a very dark patina, it measures 21" widest, 7 1/2" deepest and 31" tallest at the center of the top decoration- that's ... moremeasuring on the farthest spots of the outside walls. The inside(measuring on the inside walss of the front) opening is 16 5/8" wide 4 7/8" deep front to back at the lower unadorned half, amd 18" tall from the bottom of the feet to the"ceiling" on the inside top. It weighs a smidge under 8 lbs. It's in excellent solid and sturdy structural condition- with tongue and groove construction that you can see at the back- this is a quality piece. At the front bottom half, if you look at photos 10& 11, you can see two small nail holes on either side- so it was clearly mounted to or behind something on that lower half. The good news is that it stands on its own as it is- as you can see in my photos, and also that it's stained the same color there- although not varnished, I don't believe, but because of the stain, it really does not stand out to me- see what you think in my photos. The finish is in overall nice shape- with some scratching and scraping. There's a 4" long light shallow scratch the top left that you can see in photo 8. There's some other smaller scratches there too. That's the worst of it as far as the front/show

Rare Antique English Neoclassic Architecture Artefact - Bank of England 1788
Description: This is a very neoclassic architecture element which depicts the partial body of a sphinx. It measures 17.5 x 17 inches. It is definitely 18th century period. However. The only information that we have is from a little note that the previous owner, an Englishman living in Switzerland, had attached to the top of the piece. It states that it was from a mural of the original building before it was destroyed. The background is that the most famous architect of the late 18th and early 19th century. John Soane, built the Bank of England in 1788. And it was destroyed in the early 20th century, it was destroyed to make way for the new in an event that the archictectural historian Nikolaus Pevseras describes as the"the greatest architectural crime, in the city of London, of the twentieth century. If the note is accurate; then this ... moreis truly a rare piece British architectural history. Also, it is a fine piece of majolica craftsmanship and displays stunningly. It is an extremely heavy artefact and the condition is in keeping with a piece that was probably salvaged from the rubble.

Beautiful Antique Marble Platform/Stand/Pedestal/Riser with Sandwich Glass Feet
Yet another item from the antiques dealer's estate. This is a beautiful marble stand that can be used for a myriad of things. It is wonderful for displaying any kind of art glass. Pottery, bronze statuary or just about anything you collect. It will give whatever you place on it a bit of extra height and really set off the right piece. The marble is cut in a square shape with a bezel around the top four sides. The colors range from different shades of white to shades of brown with some rust, pink and green. It is a gorgeous piece of stone! The coloring is such that it will go with almost any decor. It has a matte finish, which I assume means that it was never polished. On the bottom are mounted four glass pieces that look like sandwich glass knobs. They are faceted all the way around and lift the marble up off the surface a little bit. ... moreThere are no markings of any kind on this and it may have been hand made but it is very well made and was done by an artisan with talent. The measurments of the piece are: 6 1/8" square and about 1 3/4" tall. The thickness of the stone is about 1" and it is heavy for its size weighing almost 3 1/2 pounds. The marble could probably use a good cleaning. But I have left that for the new owner to take care of as I do not know how to properly care for it. There is some slight scratching, which is commensurate with the age of the piece and does not detract from its beauty. They can probably be filled by applying some type of wax to make them disappear.
