BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE QUARTERSAWN OAK MANTEL SHELF PEDIMENT TOP FURNITURE PIECE
Up for bid is this stunning quartersawn oak mantel shelf or mantel top from. I believe an overmantel. The piece is approximately 5 2-3/4" in length or width x 10" deep x 5" high. Hollowed o ut or opened in the back makes for some nice hidden storage. Beautiful quartersawn oak grain patterns set this gem off like no other and will grace any room it's used in. Pair it up with a few columns of the same wood and grain patterns and make it back into a mantel. Leave it as is. Other than cleaning it up, add a few hidden hangers and you'll have a very nice shelf as well as a hidden compartment piece to add to any room. It does have a few stains, as well as a few nicks scrapes and scratches from age, as seen in the pics, however the graining of the wood as well as the"egg& dart moulding pull your eyes away to a nicer ... morelook. Vintage Antique Baroque Angel Pediment Shelf wood sculpture statue church 1800's
This pediment was purchased by my friend's grandparents at an antique store called"Neumann" in Germany in either 1935 or 1936. It was purchased when they were taking his brother to entrance exams at boarding school. They purchased many items from this store. It is an original baroque angel pediment. While we don't know its exact age. We do know that it was considered an antique in 1936. A couple years later, a Germanic National Museum in Nurnberg consultant wanted to buy it from him while looking for items at the old German church he was renovating. It measures 6 3/4" tall and the shelf is 6 1/2" across the top. The shelf is green painted wood with"No. 1056" hand written on the back. The sculpted angel face could be either wood or putty, I'm not sure. Someone who knows more about this may be able ... moreto tell from my pictures. The gold painted part has some wear along the edges and the nose may have a slight flaw. If you look very closely there is some color variation. I'm not sure if it is supposed to be that way or not. It could be a chip, but it feels smooth. This package will be very carefully packed in a large box with lots of bubble wrap, mailed by Priority Mail, and will be insured. Please feel free to ask additional questions. While I am by no means an expert on antique pediments, I do answer questions quickly, and can consult my friend with questions I may not have information about. This is a quite stunning gothic wooden carved oak pediment with the head of the green man centrally with leaf carvings and central shelf of which: During our research we have been informed it dates from the gothic period of the 19th century and is of european origin. A pediment with: centrally: with the head of the green man with the leaves coming out of the mouth forming a flaming tongue. Other carvings to either side with heavily relief carvings of leaves and other. Intricate carvings to the top above the central shelf. GORGEOUS ANTIQUE OAK & WALNUT FURNITURE CARTOUCHE & PEDIMENT SHELF
Up for bid is a gorgeous antique solid walnut and oak cartouche and pediment shelf. Standing 11-1/2" high x 8-1/2" wide and having a profile of about 5-1/2" deep. This solid looking shelf makes a bold statement wherever you decide to hang and use it. It hangs by two brass hooks, fastened to the back, so that when something is set atop of it, it will not sway to one side of the other and the shelf will set firmly on the wall. The back has been hollowed out to reduce some of it's weight, though two properly positioned screws into anchors in the wall should allow a good amount of weight to be placed upon the shelf. The top of the shelf is a nicely crafted solid oak board with nicely cut edges along the front and sides. The cartouche itself is a gorgeous hand carved acanthus leaf with a drop down finial at the bottom supporting ... morethe shelf. Little to no original finish is left, so I believe a natural or dark finish is all that's needed to make this piece pop. Some without- Here is a gorgeous and i mean gorgeous eastlake wall pocket. has really nice carvings and a gorgeous added bird& leaf on the front.i see no damage or issues what so ever aside from one tiny little chip on the bottom.very hard to notice, other than that, no holes, dings, scratches, cracks, hairlines, nothing. it is in tip top shape.has its original chains and brackets aswell but as youll notice it needs a couple new little tiny nails put in on the side where they use to go, otherwise you can just leave the chains the way they are. if you notice the carvings on this piece are very nicely done.on alot of later eastlake pieces the carvings became sort of shotty and ... morenot symetrical and just sort of poorly done and rushed.i believe this wall pocket to be a very early eastlake piece judging by the extra nice carvings and attention to symetrical detail, and the very old hardware.this one was done beautifully top to bottom. i meant to dust it before i took pictures but i forgot so any blemishes are just particles of dust, this piece really is in amazing condition. Antique Gilt Brass Victorian Bed Crown Curtain Valance Cornice Pediment Shelf
Antique Pressed Brass Bed Crown Curtain Valance Shelf The beautiful valance features gilt pressed brass over a wooden frame. The wooden frame features a lovely finished underside with decorative wood moldings. The valance is curved on the front with straight sides. Originally used for as a drape tester over a bed. But has potential for a variety of applications. It can be mounted on a wall as a display shelf, or table. It could also be installed above the head of a bed for a dramatic drapery valance headboard. It measures 54" wide. 25" deep, and 9 1/2" high at the back, with the brass skirt measuring 5" high. It is in excellent condition with only a couple of small dents to the brass. And a very nice warm patina. Note- I have matching curtain valances available also.

Antique Shabby Barbola Roses Pediment Mantle Shelf Pelmet Bed Crown Cornice
This auction is for an Antique Vintage Rare Solid Wood Barbola Roses Pediment. The paint is original to the piece. The background is a shabby muted pale creamy yellow. The Rose swags are a soft shabby muted pink with soft mint green leaves. The swag tops are tied off by gold ribbons. The top of the board is painted a mahogany burgundy tone. Above that the wood is notched and painted in gold trim– The very top of the piece is unpainted which could easily be covered with a lace runner or repainted or simply high enough on the wall to be left as is. Or perhaps the new owner would prefer to paint the burgundy the same color as the roses to make it pop more. The paint is original to the piece. There is just a slight piece of the Barbola missing on the center rose swag. But would not really be noticeable with matching paint. If a person is artistically ... moreinclined, they could repaint to the shabby color(s) of choice. The odd thing about this piece is that to be completely a 3 sided pediment– it is missing the left side. Of course a piece could be added to this minus roses. Or the other side taken off and 2 new pieces put on both side with a paint to simply match the muted creamy yellow. The left top end has a slight slant to it, so I am thinking this actually was probably a longer mantle, pediment to begin with that was cut in two& that is why the odd side without the finish. It measures 44 1/2” across and is 10 ¼” tall and 6 ½” wide. So I think I am starting with a low starting price on this in lieu of the above factor. I’m sure someone creative out there has the ingenuity to figure the other side out. The original hardware is inside. But perhaps the new owner would want to have this refurbished. I have never hung this personally. It is a substantially heavy piece. Thus the expense in shipping because it is so dense. Description This is a piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of oak and is currently painted black. The crown molding along the top is trimmed in egg and dart. The breast has a carved. Applied festoon with flowers in the middle. The ends have applied carved brackets. It measures 103.5 inches long. 14.25 inches tall and is 4.5 inches deep. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good scrubbing but will clean up nicely.
