BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE QUARTERSAWN OAK MANTEL SHELF PEDIMENT TOP FURNITURE PIECE
Up for bid is this stunning quartersawn oak mantel shelf or mantel top from. I believe an overmantel. The piece is approximately 5 2-3/4" in length or width x 10" deep x 5" high. Hollowed o ut or opened in the back makes for some nice hidden storage. Beautiful quartersawn oak grain patterns set this gem off like no other and will grace any room it's used in. Pair it up with a few columns of the same wood and grain patterns and make it back into a mantel. Leave it as is. Other than cleaning it up, add a few hidden hangers and you'll have a very nice shelf as well as a hidden compartment piece to add to any room. It does have a few stains, as well as a few nicks scrapes and scratches from age, as seen in the pics, however the graining of the wood as well as the"egg& dart moulding pull your eyes away to a nicer ... morelook. Description This is nice piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It was originally part of a built in closet front. It is made of oak. Has been painted and the stripped to bare wood. The top has a nice carved sunburst. There are corbels and nicely carved moldings. It measures 28.25 wide. 14.5 inches tall and is 5.75 inches thick at the top molding. Overall it is in very good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It has great Eastlake Spoon Carvings. Ornate brackets, corbels and moldings. The label in the back says Made by Kammerer on Germantown Ave. Philadelphia. PA June 1893. It measures 46.25 inches wide and 17.25 inches tall and is 3.5 inches thick. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. Beautiful Antique Hand Carved Wood Pediment Bird Flying Awesome Old Piece I have to tell you about the auction that I went to this week. It was in Geneva Illinois. In a sandstone building that was built before the Civil War. The sale was the final liquidation of an antique store(they‘d had one previous auction- so much stuff, they had to have two) that used to operate out of this location- but the building has been closed, as well as the business, for over 20 years following the passing of the previous owners. Now, we’re talking two stories, an attic and a basement PACKED with antiques- it’s hard to imagine, and all of it just sitting for two decades. These folks has amassed a huge antique collection- many many items dating back to the early 1800s and before. I can’t tell you how excited I am to be listing my treasures from the sale. I will ... morebe listing them for weeks to come. I also have the last of my farm auctions and South Dakota finds listed this week, so there’s something for everyone! I have to tell you- I think that this is one of the most intricately hand carved pediment pieces that I have ever solid. I'm in love with the feet of the bird- I just can't stop looking at them- the carving is incredible. I purchased a whole box full of old carved pediments removed from their original home- some reallyreally stunning pieces. So you'll want to keep checking in the next coulple of weeks. Although this fella has some damage, I just couldn't let that get in the way of how beaitiful he is. Now, I don't know if he came off of a piece of furniture, or was part of an architectural wall piece, but wherever he lived, it was grand for sure. Carved from solid wood- with a very dark brown patina(look at my first photo as a reference, my close ups were getting washed out, and he's dark just like the first photo- nothing else. The crown at the top is nicely shaped with Eastlake Spoon Carvings The ends have nice carved leaves. The center has 3 carved flowers and 2 raised panels. It would be great above a door or window. Each measures 39.75 inches wide. 8.75 inches tall and 2.75 inches thick. Overall. It is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. Beautiful Primitive Antique Cast Iron Architectural Piece 2 Lbs Grapes& Vines The pickens were slim this weekend as far as auctions and estate sales. So I went to a favorite antique mall that always has an awesome February sale. Picked up lots of antiques and unique items to list! I also continue to list new items from the farm estate auction, with lookouts more new hardware pieces over the next several weeks. I am also going to one of my favorite flea market shows this weekend, so wish me luck! There’s something for everyone! What's not to love about this beautiful piece of primitive cast iron. It's Victorian in fancy age. And it most likely came off of a fence or a piece of home brick-a-brack. Made of solid cast iron, it weighs 2 lbs, which is a lot for its size: 6" wide, 8 1/2" tall and about 5/8" thick. It is ... morea grape and vine design- with one bunch of grapes and two leaves seen growing from the vine that makes up the frame of the piece. You can see manymanymany layers of old paint on it- I see white, and I think I see black, with lots of chipping, crackling and pitting. The current color is rust- and I have to tell you- I think that is an old painted finish color, not rust itself- see what you think. It does have rust, don't get me wrong, but the rust is in the spots where the paint has chipped all the way down to the metal and it's old and very very dark rust. Supersize and see what you think, as I am not sure. What I am sure of is its beauty, though, in its all original shabby glory- it's in excellent solid and sturdy condition and it will display beautifully. This is a nice old iron piece. I am by no means an expert on antique architectural items. I am just going off what I have research on Ebay. This antique pediment is in great shape. It appears to be made out of Oak. It has carved sunburst pattern. With carved detail and rounded knobs on radius. This is all could tell you about it, I don't know if it is French, Victorian or what? Circa. Beautiful Antique Marble Platform/Stand/Pedestal/Riser with Sandwich Glass Feet
Yet another item from the antiques dealer's estate. This is a beautiful marble stand that can be used for a myriad of things. It is wonderful for displaying any kind of art glass. Pottery, bronze statuary or just about anything you collect. It will give whatever you place on it a bit of extra height and really set off the right piece. The marble is cut in a square shape with a bezel around the top four sides. The colors range from different shades of white to shades of brown with some rust, pink and green. It is a gorgeous piece of stone! The coloring is such that it will go with almost any decor. It has a matte finish, which I assume means that it was never polished. On the bottom are mounted four glass pieces that look like sandwich glass knobs. They are faceted all the way around and lift the marble up off the surface a little bit. ... moreThere are no markings of any kind on this and it may have been hand made but it is very well made and was done by an artisan with talent. The measurments of the piece are: 6 1/8" square and about 1 3/4" tall. The thickness of the stone is about 1" and it is heavy for its size weighing almost 3 1/2 pounds. The marble could probably use a good cleaning. But I have left that for the new owner to take care of as I do not know how to properly care for it. There is some slight scratching, which is commensurate with the age of the piece and does not detract from its beauty. They can probably be filled by applying some type of wax to make them disappear.
