There is a nice curved crown molding along the top with carved fans below. It was originally part of a larger piece. It measures 30.25 inches long. By 13 inches tall. It's 3.5 inches thick. Overall. It measures 28.25 wide. 14.5 inches tall and is 5.75 inches thick at the top molding. Overall it is in very good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. I have a very Beautiful Pediment up for auction. It is made from Oak Wood and has elegant detailed pieces nailed onto it. It is a work of ART from days gone past when quality was put into furniture. This piece can be added to a dresser.Buffet, or simply used as an Architectural Hanging over a door or on your wall over a picture. There are two hangers already on the back for easy installation. ANTIQUE SOLID OAK CARVED GALLERY PEDIMENT w/FINIALS & SPINDLES
Up for bid is a stunning antique mid to late 19th century. Solid oak furniture pediment or top gallery that probably once graced a nice cupboard or cabinet. Standing nearly 10" high x 43-1/2" in length, this pediment has returns of 13" in length or depth. There are 4 finials that grace the top rail of the gallery rail above some very nicely turned, urn shaped spindles. Each blocked plynth holds a finial rising above the railing and is faced with a double hip-like rectangular medallion situated on at least 3 sides of the plynth. The center is nicely carved with a rectangular hip-like medallion, flanked by carved acanthus leaves. The two center finials are missing the top ball portion of the finial, as seen in the pics, unlike the two outer finials, which are complete. The missing ball tops, must have broke off quite a few years ... moreago, because the top grain of wood, shows quite a bit of patina. There also appears to be remnants of old white paint, in some of the oak grain, though it also looks like it could be removed if the winning bidder deems it necessary. There is even some quartersawn oak used at the block plynths and finials. At present, there does not seem to be any other finish covering the wood. If you're looking for a superb solid oak gallery or furniture pediment, you'll not want to miss out bidding on this gem, and allowing it to get away. ANTIQUE HAND CARVED OAK WOOD 18th 19th Century VINTAGE FURNITURE ARCHITECTURAL PEDIMENT An incredible. Hand carved, antique furniture or architectural pediment from the 1700's to early 1800's. The wood appears to be oak but I'm not positive. It still has that wonderful old patina to the wood. It measures approximately 23" long x about 11 1/2" high and the thickest part of the wood is about 2" at each end with the flowers) The wood is split down the middle of the wreath, there are some chips(or missing) to the leaves that stick out on the sides, and there is part of the ribbon missing above the wreath. There may be other spots of chipped wood, but nothing that noticeable. Despite the flaws, this is a very old hand carved wooden pediment to display and enjoy! It is still awesomely beautiful. This pediment has some of the most unusual characteristics I have ever seen. The header has a wonderfully carved serpentine top. There are very ornate side carvings, and then those round metal grommets all along the pediment. Looks almost Medieval or Gothic with that Victorian twist. Description This is a nice piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian home. It is made of oak and is currently painted. It was originally the crown to a built in armoire. There is a small shelf at the top that is trimmed in reel and bead molding. The breast has applied carved festoons with flowers. It measures 67.75 inches wide by 8.75 inches tall and is 3.25 inches deep. Overall it is in good co ndition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. There are a couple light cracks. The right side return molding is missing. There is some wood loss at the bottom. Please look at the pictures carefully. Antique carved oak pediment secretary buffet dresser
For sale we have an antique quartersawn oak pediment with applied carvings. It measures 37 1/2" x 10" This came off of a hi-boy dresser. Very nice condition. There are a few holes in the bottom where it was mounted. Beautiful detail and craftsmanship. Thanks.
