So Fab & Shabby! Unique Antique Architectural Pediment Architect Design Model
What a fabulous and unusual find this is. I have to admit I have never seen a piece like this before. The man I purchase this from said it was an architectural sample used by architects. Not sure that is true but makes sense. It is plastic. But old plastic. Sits on a piece of old wood so it can stand by itself but it could also be hung on the wall. It originally had a cardboard or paper backing on it but it is gone now. It's a beautiful design and could easily be painted to your liking. I like it this way. Nice size too.25" long x 11 1/2"

Antique Architectural Sign Pediment Carro Romano Wood Roman Chariot Advertising
Up for auction is this wonderful architectural wood sign. I recently purchased this at an estate sale in Litchfield. CT. I was told it was very old, but I really do not know the age. I looked all over the internet and could not find anything like it. I think it may be the remnants of a sign for a company that sold miniature Roman Chariot models, Carro de Guerra Romano, but I am really just venturing a guess here. Really can't figure it out. From the holes, it looks like it was mounted on something else, or was hung from above. Layers upon layers of paint, from the original old to touch ups over the years. Some wear and wood chips with age. Great carving on the image while the name is quite primitive. This lovely piece came from a local estate of a French couple. It is a wonderfully crafted iron panel with a point at the top. The piece has age: it has oxidation on most of the parts as part of its charm. It looks very good over a table as a décor by itself. They weigh 25 lbs each. There are all kinds of numbers and lettering marking the bottoms. What's great about these are the hand/finger prints on the inside of the claywork. which were the hands of the maker. when/where he or she had to push the clay had to be into molds. and you can clearly see the hand-work craftsmanship. Pair Antique Rococo Column Capitals / Pedestals Architectural Salvage
Up For Auction This auction is for a pair of mid to late 19th century carved architectural wood trim offs. Identical pieces feature ornately carved Greek acanthus leaves and Victorian floral design. These beautiful corbels came from the estate of a collector specializing in French style interior design and architectural salvage. We believe the type of wood to be cherry or pecan. This capital would fit a column 5" in diameter. Pieces each measure 5 3/4" tall. 6 1/2" wide. If they were affixed to the wall, they would measure 4 3/4" deep at the deepest point. Each capital weighs 2 pounds. There is a small chip to one scroll. The finish on the wood is completely original and we have made no attempt to touch up or otherwise repair or change these lovely pedestals. Although age is unknown similar brackets can be seen throughout New Orleans French Quarter and in the city's architecturally significant neighborhoods. They measure 34 inches x 34 inches and are 1.5 inches wide. There are holes for installing with screws. They are gorgeous in that chippy paint sort of way. They are not new and are sold as is. They are dirty and have flaking paint and some rust. The tops where they were attached have some remnants of other materials adhered. But could easily be chipped off before installation. And I found some fabulous primitive antiques, as well as boxes and boxes of antique and vintage hardware that I will be listing for a long long time- someone clearly was a woodworker or dabbled in furniture creation or restoration. There’s something for everyone! Wow. What a find, and an education at the same time. I took a quick trip to a local small antique/flea market this weekend, and found some fabulous oldees to add to my farm auction collection. This one really has a haunting history and feel to it- I felt it right away.and had to have it. It's a terra cotta architectural piece recovered from one of the demolitions of the Saint Boniface Church and School in Chicago. ... moreThe woman that I bought it from told me that her son had been a demolition crew worker on the sight, and she had printed out a page on the internet to give me regarding the church(it will be included) I had actually never heard of St. Boniface, so was eager to learn of its history- and rich it is. St. Boniface's original church was established for German immigrants in 1865, and named after the patron saint of Germany. After the Great Chicago Fire in 1871, which it survived, it provided refuge for displaced masses. One of the Parish priests, Father Evers, lead an effort to condem the 10 acres adjacent to the church, lending to the property space for the school, rectory and convents. The last church, school and rectory were built between 1896 and 1904. In 1990, the Archdiocese of Chicago closed the church and scheduled it for demolition, which met with great resistance from the former parishoners and community. After many long restoration battles, four buildings have been demolished on the property; two convents, the school and the rectory, with the original church being slated for senior housing units. Small Rustic Primitive Carved Wood Pediment Piece Tree Shaped! I brought home a truck load of items from the auction last week. It was a farm estate. And I found some fabulous primitive antiques, as well as boxes and boxes of antique and vintage hardware that I will be listing for a long long time- someone clearly was a woodworker or dabbled in furniture creation or restoration. There’s something for everyone! I have no idea what this antique carved wood pediment came off of. But I loved the fact that it looks like a pine tree in shape to me(not that that was the original intention of the piece) it's loaded with primitive charm. Measuring just 5 1/4" tall, it is 1 3/8" widest and only 1/4" thick(maybe just a smidge under) There's 1 round small mounting holes about 1" down from the top, and then there's a sliver(about ... more1/4" long and very thin) of air space at the bottom- at the seam of where the two sides of the"trunk of the tree" come together, right on top of the round ball shape that is there- that's original to the making, I don't think it's meant as a mounting hole, but you could use it as one too if you had a small enough nail. I'm showing in photos 10-12 that the bottom corner edges of the"tree trunk" as well as the bottom left of the base perimiter rim of the trunk look as if they were once part of a larger piece- broken off from that piece, the edges in those spots are not smooth. It's reallyreallyreally hard to notice, though- you have to look for it to see. There's no structural issues- it's in excellent solid and sturdy condition. The patina is dark and old- ranging from a medium brown to a dark brown on the front(and darker to almost black on the back) and I do think darker in person than the image on my screen in my photos(it's the light reflecting off of all the snow outside! Antique Victorian 16.5" English Wooden Shell Motif Pediment Walnut / Mahogany
This is an Antique/ Vintage 16 1/2" Wooden Shell Motif Pediment. The pediment was purchase in England. We assume it was probably made there. But we do not know for sure, nor do we know specifically what its age is, but appears to us to likely be 19th Century Victorian era piece. The pediment definitely appears to be hardwood. The appearance of the grain strongly suggests the wood in probably walnut but it could possibly be mahogany or other hardwood. The pediment a great looking piece with a graceful. Very deeply carved shell design. We do not know for sure what specific type of piece it was originally part of. The measurements of the pediment excluding the 3/8" pad at the top center and the two pegs on the bottom are 16 1/2" wide x 6 1/4" high x 3 11/16" wide. The pediment is built up from three layers of wood as ... moreseen in the photo of the top. The pad on top is 3/8" tall with a 7/8" deep x 7/8" diameter hole where the peg for a finial was inserted. As found. The finial was no longer present and the pediment is offered as found in that regard. The two pins on the bottom are 3/4" long x 3/4" in diameter. The pins are on 11 1/4" centers. The pediment is a very solid. Substantial piece and it weighs about three pounds. Condition The pediment is in excellent condition with beautiful. Uniform finish, and no chips or other damage. The only, very, very minor issue I noticed is a couple of tiny circular white paint droplets on the back as seen on the photo of the back.
