BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE QUARTERSAWN OAK MANTEL SHELF PEDIMENT TOP FURNITURE PIECE
Up for bid is this stunning quartersawn oak mantel shelf or mantel top from. I believe an overmantel. The piece is approximately 5 2-3/4" in length or width x 10" deep x 5" high. Hollowed o ut or opened in the back makes for some nice hidden storage. Beautiful quartersawn oak grain patterns set this gem off like no other and will grace any room it's used in. Pair it up with a few columns of the same wood and grain patterns and make it back into a mantel. Leave it as is. Other than cleaning it up, add a few hidden hangers and you'll have a very nice shelf as well as a hidden compartment piece to add to any room. It does have a few stains, as well as a few nicks scrapes and scratches from age, as seen in the pics, however the graining of the wood as well as the"egg& dart moulding pull your eyes away to a nicer ... morelook. Up for your consideration is a beautiful looking vintage Brass Architectural pediment/ wall plate piece. This nice looking piece was part of the lobby from a Boston Building built in the 1920's that was renovated and was not longer needed. If your into vintage architectural pieces this is for you. Please look at all the pictures to see the detail work. Made of solid brass and is one piece. Measures 20 5/8" wide and 2 7/8" tall. 1/8" thick. This is not a cheap thin piece. Weighs 4 1/4 pounds. Nice looking plate with a raised design on it. It does have four holes on the corners for mounting if needed and the screws are included. As you can see from the back it was also glued.Little old glue still on it. Plate needs nothing.No cleaning its in great shape with a nice older brass patina. I was saying in one of my other listings how I bought a whole large box filled with a mixture of old antique hand carved pediments at the auctiion- I'll be listing them for weeks. So be sure to keep checking. This one is soooo pretty- and, it has one nail sticking out the back which I've left where it is, because I want you to see that it is an old forged iron sqaure nail. I don't know if this piece came off of a larger architectural piece, or if it was a piece of furniture, but whatever it was, it was grand, for sure. Measuring 5 1/8" widest, it is 8 1/8"tallest and 1 3/4" thickest. It weighs 1/2 lb and is all hand carved out of one solid piece of wood. The finish is beautiful on this one- a little dusty(it needs a cleaning, I have not cleaned it orr messed with the as found patina in any way) but really, with veryvery little wear that can be seen. I'm in love with the feet of the bird- I just can't stop looking at them- the carving is incredible. Although this fella has some damage, I just couldn't let that get in the way of how beaitiful he is. Now, I don't know if he came off of a piece of furniture, or was part of an architectural wall piece, but wherever he lived, it was grand for sure. I'm not sure what the wood is. The condition is good. There are no breaks, cracks or repairs to the pieces. There are some scratches. But it packs a punch of primitive charm. Made of solid wood, it has raised relief detail in the center that is oh-so-pretty. It measures 7" by 4 7/8" by 5/8" thick and is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. The two long sides are stained, and the two short sides are not, so that is clearly where they were attached- to a piece of molding, I'm guessing. You can see old dried adhesive on the backside from when it was in place. There's rustic wear to the wood ahd finish- scratches, scrapes, nicks, dings, nibbles, a small chip on one side that I'm showing in a close up. You could polish or put some stain on to diminish- but I wouldn't change a thing- it's primitively perfect to me! Please ask if you have any questions. Small Rustic Primitive Carved Wood Pediment Piece Tree Shaped!
Small Rustic Primitive Carved Wood Pediment Piece Tree Shaped! I brought home a truck load of items from the auction last week. It was a farm estate. And I found some fabulous primitive antiques, as well as boxes and boxes of antique and vintage hardware that I will be listing for a long long time- someone clearly was a woodworker or dabbled in furniture creation or restoration. There’s something for everyone! I have no idea what this antique carved wood pediment came off of. But I loved the fact that it looks like a pine tree in shape to me(not that that was the original intention of the piece) it's loaded with primitive charm. Measuring just 5 1/4" tall, it is 1 3/8" widest and only 1/4" thick(maybe just a smidge under) There's 1 round small mounting holes about 1" down from the top, and then there's a sliver(about ... more1/4" long and very thin) of air space at the bottom- at the seam of where the two sides of the"trunk of the tree" come together, right on top of the round ball shape that is there- that's original to the making, I don't think it's meant as a mounting hole, but you could use it as one too if you had a small enough nail. I'm showing in photos 10-12 that the bottom corner edges of the"tree trunk" as well as the bottom left of the base perimiter rim of the trunk look as if they were once part of a larger piece- broken off from that piece, the edges in those spots are not smooth. It's reallyreallyreally hard to notice, though- you have to look for it to see. There's no structural issues- it's in excellent solid and sturdy condition. The patina is dark and old- ranging from a medium brown to a dark brown on the front(and darker to almost black on the back) and I do think darker in person than the image on my screen in my photos(it's the light reflecting off of all the snow outside! This is a very attractive antique Victorian era pediment salvaged piece. It has such a rich patina! I believe it is made of walnut. However could be mahogany(sorry don't know woods very well) It is heavy and solid. It has been beautifully carved with leaves and walnuts. It measures 14" long, 5 5/8" wide and 7 1/4" deep. It looks like it was a corbel but could have a lot of uses.It is in excellent condition except for a thin crack on one side as pictured. Gorgeous Antique Victorian Era Cast Iron Architectural Pediment Fretwork Piece Busybusybusy treasure hunting week for you. I shopped at a closing antique store. Went to the flea market, and still have some items from the weeks ago farm estate auction- there’s lots of neat stuff that you don‘t want to miss! Oh-So one of my favorites this week- it's a gorgeous Victorian era antique cast iron architectural piece- a pediment or piece of fretwork from a home. Or perhaps a garden gate, I am not sure, as I just have the one, and cannot put the rest of the"peices" back together to see. I'm thrilled for the piece that I have, though- it is just so pretty in shape and design, and it looks just as good whether it's up like I have in photo 1 or up like I have it in my 23rd photo. It has a very old(probably multiple layers) finish ... moreof black paint, and you can see it's chippy, shabby and worn in many spots- and in most of those spots down to the iron underneath- and you can see a layer of dark surface rust where the metal is exposed. The rust spots are very old, surface only with no thick spots holes, etc. This piece is totally structurally sound and weighs a whopping 6 3/4 lbs. I'm showing you both front and back(if there is a difference, it seems the same on both sides to me as far as design) as well as both sides and top and bottom in my photos. On one short end and its sides(don't know if it's top or bottom- it's the top in most of my photos except 23) you can see where it looks like it was connected to a larger piece- see photos 11 and 16-17 for the side view of where it looks like it was separated, and photos 18-19 of that top where it looks like it was connected and separated. I cannot tell if it was cut or broken from its larger piece, as rough, not flat, but there's no jagged or sharp edges- see my photos. Photos 20& 21 show the other short end, where it's painted and I can see cast lines, so this end was not attached to anything back in the day. The piece measures

Lovely Old Vintage Carved Solid Tiger Oak Wood Standing Pediment Piece or? I didn’t have a lot of time to shop this week because of visiting relatives. But I found some awesome pieces regardless, and I’ll be going to my favorite flea market this weekend, so I’ll have a boatload of items, fingers crossed, that will be new. I appreciate your business! This one has more questions than answers for me! Of course. What caught my attention about it right away, was the beautiful tiger graining of the oak- my favorite wood. Also, I'm calling it vintage, but I do think that it could be old enough to be antique, finally, what da-heck is it? I'm calling it a pediment, but did it used to be a part of a furniture, or architectural piece? I don't know, it will be for you to decide! Now, I want to point out that the oak base that it is attached ... moreto on the front I do not think is original. I think that was added later so that the piece can stand on its own- and it does, while on a flat surface- I had to take if off of my rug to show you(hence, the photo on my sidewalk) as the rug was too bumpy for it to stand independently. The wood is solid, not veneer, and you can see the quartersawn graining at the back too. The piece has simple hand carved details that have been painted(on the insides and borders) in a dark red. I see peeks of the red on the sides of the piece too, but it's quite worn in many spots on the side, so it's only in peeks- you see more of the wood underneath, there. I did notice that the insides of the two cutouts in the piece either were once all red, as I think the sides were, or they were left unfinished and you can see some of the border red on the cutouts- it's hard to tell for sure, and you have to be up looking inside the cutouts to notice- that's what I was trying to do for you in photo 13. The piece is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. The finish is a semi gloss varnish, and you can see spots of wear to that and the stain- very minor. I'm showing in photos 8& 9 tha

Small Fancy Primitive Antique Carved Wood Architectural Pediment Piece We traveled an hour and a half South into central Illinois for a football game this week. And I took the opportunity of going treasure hunting in the cornfields. I found a surprising variety– there’s something for everyone this week! Here is a lovely small antique wood pediment piece for you. It's fancy. Yet primitive shabby at the same time. In excellent solid and sturdy condition, it has very worn and chippy paint- you can see white under the current coat and honestly, it's so dirty, it's hard to tell if the current coat is tan, or if it's white and just covered with dirt and dust- please see my photos and what you think. It really needs a good bath, and I do not clean or mess with as found patina in any way. It measures 5" wide at the base, 4" ... morewidest at the carved wood top, 7 1/4" tall and 1 1/2" deep at the sides. It weighs just over 1/2 lb. It's solid, carved wood and it's beautiful. As you can see in my photos, the bottom is not painted on the front and back, and the sides of the base were never painted either. You can see one small hole on the front left- I am guessing it's from where/how it was mounted. The paint is very chippy and crackly and worn all over- yummy! Description This is a great piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia. PA Victorian Home. It is made of walnut and is currently painted. It was originally the crown molding to a built in armoire. It was made in three sections and is doweled together. The center piece has a small shelf in the middle. A nice shape and applied carvings in the middle and at the ends. The 2 side pieces have applied carvings at the far ends. It can be used as a single long crown or 2 separate pieces. It measures 108 inches wide together. 11.5 tall and 3.25 thick. Overall. It is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. There are a couple of chips to the end carvings.
