Vintage 1920's Brass Architectural Salvage Pediment / Wall Pc Boston Building #2
Up for your consideration are two beautiful looking vintage Brass Architectural pediment/ wall pieces. These nice looking pieces were part of the lobby from a Boston Building built in the 1920's that was renovated and was not longer needed. Building was in the neoclassical style. If your into vintage architectural pieces this is for you. Brass was big in the 20s and 30s for decorating a lobby in a building or use on the outside because of its cheap price. Today the cost would be to great to use this metal. Both are made of solid brass. They measure about 19 7/8" wide. 2 7/8" wide and 3/8" thick. Total weight is about 7 pounds. It measures approximately 48" wide x 17-1/2" tall. The top crown is 2-1/4" thick and the main body is 1-3/4" thick. I believe this once was a part of an old Victorian bed or mirror as it has 2 screw or nail holes on the back. Vtg~Large~Hand Carved Maple Leaf Wood Grape Window Panel Black Forest pediment
This week we have this gorgeous Antique/Vintage wall or Window panel. This piece is intricatly hand carved in a leaf and honeycomb motif. It is also hand painted. I am not sure what this originaly was from but there are three pieces of metal(brass. I believe) hardware fittings on the back three corners of the piece. I do not think it was a door but it could have been a fixed piece some how. It is a very heavy piece made out of solid hardwood. I think it may be teak or walnut. It is in excellent condition and measures 22" x 31" and is 3/4" thick. This is a wonderful hand carved panel or decorative pediment style piece. I do not know the exact age. But I know it was part of an old English Manor home that was deconstructed. Its' paneling and other"Old English" architectural elements were applied to a home in Kansas City Missouri. This is an extra piece that was not used in the home. It measures approximately 20" in length by about 6 3/4" at its' widest width and is 1" thick. There is a modern hanger attached to the back-as it has been hung for decoration. ANTIQUE HAND CARVED WOOD ARCHITECTURAL FRETWORK -FROM AN ENGLISH MANOR HOME
For your consideration is a marvelous hand carved wooden architectural piece from England. A gentleman in Kansas City Missouri brought over carved panels and fretwork from England(apparently one or more deconstructed Old Manor homes) and applied them to his own unique home. It was like stepping back in history! This particular piece(most likely due to the breakage) was a leftover that was not used in his home. It is approximately 13 3/4" by 8" by 3/4" at the longest widths. It is roughly carved and has a whimsical quality. The wood has been stained dark-almost an ebony. But I could not say for sure if it was truly"ebonized" at any time. I do not know the age, but I do know it is very old. At least 100+ years(minimal) I would guess it much older than that, but I have no way of knowing. This piece looks lovely by itself, ... morebut could be creatively re-purposed! This pediment has some of the most unusual characteristics I have ever seen. The header has a wonderfully carved serpentine top. There are very ornate side carvings, and then those round metal grommets all along the pediment. Looks almost Medieval or Gothic with that Victorian twist. This is a WHOPPER! Circa 1800s. Architectural header. Perfect as a window valance, especially over wood blinds. This is high Victorian quality at its best. It has side columns at each end with Eastlake inscribed triangles at the bottom, parallel vertical grooves above, then beveled cornice trim with arch on top. All along the bottom is bull nose trim with more Eastlake inscribed carving near each end. Further up is sawtooth trim of real burled walnut. Beveled cornice trim directly above that. Ornate spindles at each end with a large burled walnut panel in between. The burled walnut panel has a diamond medallion near the spindles and a small beveled, burled walnut medallion in the middle. Up for your consideration we have this beautiful window pediment from a WV farmhouse built in 1850. I believe it is made of pine and is quite heavy weighing about 15 pounds. It is a salvaged item and does have some imperfections such as a few nails sticking up out of it and lots of chipping paint. The paint does come off very easily when you touch it. It measures about 17" tall to the peak. 44.5" long and about 4" thick. This is a beautiful salvage piece. Even further toward the middle are double half spindles. The center has a diamond shaped, acanthus medallion with a dramatic, beveled arch above. The arch has 4 button medallions with another finial on top. That finial sits atop more acanthus carving. It also stands freely, upright, on its own if required.Overall, a splendid Victorian design. 1800s Tiger Oak Pierced Fretwork Arch Frame Victorian Furnitire Pediment Carving
DRAMATIC. Curved architectural salvage. Very rare to find arched pediment versus the much more common straight ones. Guaranteed to be circa 1800s. Solid quarter sawn oak construction. Countoured beveled trim all along the top. Then, directly under, are 15 repeating spindles. Directly below that is more beveled trim. Under the trim is leafy carvings that are pierced to the left and right of center. In between is a drop finial hanging below vertical grooves. It measures 40 inches long, 14 1/4 inches tall at ends and 8 3/4 inches tall in middle. Great ornate, Victorian design.There is one slight crack at far left, but wonderful overall condition. This old high relief mythical sculpture depicts an evil angry looking gargoyle lion man creature face roaring and bearing his teeth or fangs. The water spout in set in his mouth in between his detailed jaw, the water line attaches from the back and exits through the mouth. Please read all contents of this auction before you place a bid! Up for auction: We used salvaged heart pine wood and floors from a hundred + year old farm house and cotton mill in Franklin County. North Carolina. We needed to replace a large number of rosettes during the restoration of our ca. 1890 Victorian Gothic home(over half of the original rosettes to our home had been removed in a 1952 renovation) Unfortunately. The milling company used the wrong blade/pattern when cutting the replacement rosettes for our home. Though we tried to resolve the problem by re-milling these rosettes, using the other side- in the end, we decided to start from scratch. Therefore. We are selling all the rosettes to barely offset what we've already spent towards this endeavor. You can choose which side you'd like to use them for in your project(s) ... moreBefore you assume that this is pricey for this lot. Keep in mind that these blocks were hand cut precisely for the rosette size we needed, not to mention we drove well over an hour to drop off and retrieve them from the milling company who did the work for us. The blades were custom cut but in the end, did not meet the specifications that we had requested. This is a great deal for the individual who appreciates the authentic materials needed for preservation and truly understands the difference in restoration and renovation! There are a total of 80 rosettes. 19 cut on one side. 61 are cut on both sides. These rosettes measure approximately 5" x 5" x 1 1/8" each. This is 100 plus year old heart pine salvaged wood that has been cut and used to match period ca. 1890 rosettes in our home. This group is the leftover from our Victorian home restoration project.
