Lovely Antique Eastlake Era Carved Wood Pediment GREAT Over Door Well. I am back from a monster shopping trip to the World’s Longest Yard Sale– we shop Ohio every year and then stop at some of my favorite spots in Indiana to buy from. Spent 2 whole days taking photos and still not done– I have a LOT and I’ll be listing for weeks. There’s something for everyone- primitive antiques, ephemera, military, railroad, industrial, farm finds– you name it, I have it and it’s all unique– you’ll want to keep checking, as I will list every day. Enjoy! Here is a beautiful antique late 1800s carved wood pediment for you. It's one of the simpler ones that I have seen(which is what I love about it! with 6 vertical carved wood lines that separate the 5 down facing triangle points of wood and that have a round carved notch at the top. And a raised double ... moreround piece at the very top center of the pediment that reinforces the round carving. I don't know if this was a furniture or an architectural piece, but it was once attached to something for sure- the bottom left and right are rough from where it was attached. I see no other indication of how it was attached- no mounting holes now open, no marks at the back- whatever it used to be, it appears to have only been attached at the left and right undersides. It's not a cut there either, the roughness is uneven as if they were broken off, but you can't tell that from the front, only when looking at them closely from the underside. The piece is solid wood- I won't know what kind but the patina is darkdarkdark. It measures 33" at its widest, and 11 1/2" tall. The wood on the sides is 15 1/6" thick and it is hefty, weighing just over 4 1/4 lbs. I'm concerned about the shipping to some locations, as it will have an oversize balloon rate, being over 84" packed girth plus height. OK. Folks, this is a once in a lifetime yummy yummy element. I imagine it was the top of something- a door opening perhaps? Someone has rigged a wire at the back for hanging- OK, that's an obvious option. In the 2nd picture, I flipped it around upside down. Imagine it as the underside of a shelf, shallow or as deep as you like. It could be in an entryway, hung high, deep enough for setting several hats and with a hook or 2 for hanging coats. Hang it lower with a mirror mounted over it and you have an entry table. VERY upscale hung high in a bath for freshly folded towels. In a kitchen with grand hunks of copper pans or pottery or a stack of coffeetable cookbooks. I'd keep it myself, but I can add no more in this downscaled little place. Don't overlook the possibility of a shallow shelf with a great painting as a leaner. Soooo ... moreeasy to change your artwork when the shelf establishes the line. Near perfect condition! Circa 1800s. Salvaged, Victorian header. 100% refinished gives it a perfect patina. Highest quality, 1/4 sawn oak construction. Sawtooth trim along the bottom with flame trim to the left and right. Deep layers of bevelling as you go up. Parallel horizontal grooves in the middle and same near the top. There are 4 vertical columns with fluting and domino carving on the fronts. Most dramatic of all, is the criss crossing fretwork that allows you to look straight through the piece. This is a lovely Eastlake carved antique pediment. Great spoon-carved detail throughout and especially each end. It measures 24" long. I think the wood might be walnut. I have just about everything, from the very old and primitive to the very unique with some fabulous folk art thrown in too! I’ll be listing all week, so keep checking back! loveLoveLOVE this one- and it's brother. Which I will be listing next. Last year, I purchased one of these panels from an elderly gentleman who goes to the flea market every once in a while, in an attempt to clean out a garage that he says is packed. I have not seen him since my last purchase(and sold the other one) so was thrilled when I stumbled upon him again last week, and bought both of the pieces that he brought. This listing is for the piece that you see in my photos(one piece) and I will be listing the other one next ... moreso be sure to check that one out, too. According to what the man told me, he and his brother were in the door business- they sold new, and also reclaimed doors. He told me that this panel came from a door that was removed during a remodeling of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Chicago on 21st. St. He said that he really wanted the doors, but they were too big for him to be able to store, so what he did was remove the panels from the inserts, used some, and has kept the rest for years. Now, I found the church's website, but could not find a date that it was built. I'm guessing in the mid to later mid 1800s, as the church's address is 2108 W. 21st, and I also found the school which is 2101-2107 21st. I did find a date for the building of the school, which was 1882. This is a beautiful, rustic, primitive solid wood panel that has hand carved detail and a beautiful worn rusty-brown painted finish. The carving in the center looks like a daisy or flower to me- see what you think. You can see the unpainted, 3/4" perimeter of the panel where it used to fit in the door- the wood have a very dark patina and shows lots of wear. The back is not finished- I'm assuming

Gorgeous Ornate Antique Brass or Bronze Pediment Fancy Lady WOW! 147 Mark Ooooh. Got very lucky this week at one of my favorite flea markets. I have just about everything, from the very old and primitive to the very unique with some fabulous folk art thrown in too! I’ll be listing all week, so keep checking back! This one is a showpiece for sure. A real WOW. If I ever saw one- it stopped me in my tracks. What I have is an antique pediment of some sort- a decorative piece that I don't know if it was an architectural piece(like some type of baluster) or a furniture piece, so I have listed it under both. At first, I thought it was bronze, but it has more of a brass patina to me, so I believe that it's brass(it's one or the other for sure- please supersize and see what you think) It's also very old- my best estimate is at least ... moreturn of the last century, if not before. As you can see from my photos, the gorgeous image is of a woman with her arms raised, fingers clasped together. Very regal, as you can see the folds of her dress draping down fancily toward the center of the piece. The decoration continues down, with fancy almost flower like designs- see photo 5. I have no idea who the maker is, but it's marked on the backside with the number 147 in the metal. Now, at first, I though, Oh, is it some type of hook or handle? but then I saw that not only did it mount from the body(see photo 20, directly behind the head) but it also mounted at the base- see photo 19. In photo 20, you can see threads on the inside of the two holes from where a screw used to fit. I'm going to guess that they are on the inside of the two holes in photo 19, it's just that whoever removed the piece, it appears, cut the screws rather than unscrewing them- you can see the nubs of them sticking out at the base. The base of the screws are in there, not the head- the head would have been attached to whatever this piece was. I don't know if or how you'd be able to get them out if you wanted them gone, but I will tel

Vintage Cherub Themed Plaster Pediment. This was removed from a very ornate building in Northern California. It measures 39"x 11" and ranges from 2-3" thick. It weighs a whopping 17lbs. There are 8 holes for screws to attach it to a wall or.It is so heavy I can see why you would need so many screws to secure it. The finish appears to be Gold Leaf which is flaking off. This is a salvaged item and I have included photos from all angles so you can see and make your own determination of condition. Magnificent Embellished Column Pilaster Ornament Ram Aries 24 inch Component
I am fascinated by this single pilaster element. It has a soothing effect. It is standing adjacent to my desk as I write this. I have no thoughts or suggestions how one might change the piece or use it in a design scheme. I wouldn't paint it. Repair the hole in the center, attach it to another structure, re-saw it or make any alteration to it. I would suggest one simply live with it for awhile and appreciate its magnificent artistry. The dimensions are 24.5" x 5.5" x 4" This item came from a furniture and design company that went out of business in the 1990's. Some pieces were removed from furniture that was in disrepair other pieces were left over stock from architectural design projects.

This pediment has that OMG! appeal. The depth of the relief carving astounds. The crack on the back should not be a concern. The piece is quite sound and will display well. It is 36" x 9" x 2" This item came from a furniture and design company that went out of business in the 1990's. This is a beautiful pediment. Would look wonderful over the doorway in a Traditional. Or Southern home. I haven't got a clue as to whether it is wood or plaster.looks like wood, but can't be sure. It's old. The leaf design is of a laurel wreath. I thought of painting it white and using it above one of my doors, but I have tropical décor in my house, and it's just not working. HUGE! Walnut Victorian Furniture Pediment Fluted Beveled Cabinet Crest Bed Panel
Giant. Antique, architectural panel. Solid walnut construction and guaranteed an authentic, Victorian era piece. It has thick, bevelled trim along the bottom and raised bevelled panels far left and right. 2 vertical, fluted columns have contoured bases and round medallions at top. In the middle is a leafy carving with another raised, bevelled panel surrounding it. Above the beveled cornice trim is a dramatic sunrise decoration. This whopper measures 38 1/2 inches wide and just over 22 3/4 inches tall. The very top looks like it is missing something and the far right area has a darker patina.
