This is an exterior cast iron eyebrow cornice facade. Most historic commercial buildings have cornices to cap their facades. Usually found in buildings constructed before 1900. This is a genuine, Victorian era, window cornice. Still has old hooks and loops in back. Especially striking is that this walnut piece has no less than 3 stain colors! It is in wonderful overall condition. If you simply want it for an over door pediment or cabinet crest, it is flexible for those uses too. The center carving is simply a work of art. It has a pierced fan at top with 2 Eastlake round medallions. The bust is fantastically detailed. Additional carved crests near each end. There is a miniscule amount of paint smudge on the top. It will easily blot off with denatured alcohol. There are two(not-original screw) holes on the top from it being mounted over a doorway. This beautiful piece measures 47 3/4" wide. It is 4 15/16" tall at the tallest center point. It is 1 1/2" deep at the top. The bottom rim is only 7/8" deep(where it attached originally. The wood appears to be oak but I'm not positive. It still has that wonderful old patina to the wood. It measures approximately 23" long x about 11 1/2" high and the thickest part of the wood is about 2" at each end with the flowers) The wood is split down the middle of the wreath, there are some chips(or missing) to the leaves that stick out on the sides, and there is part of the ribbon missing above the wreath. There is a wonderful carved crest along the top. There are heavy raised molding at the top and along the bottom. The body has carvings in the middle and an applied raised panel at the left side. There was a panel on the right side also but it is missing. It measures 39.5 inches wide by 23 tall. It is 4 inches deep. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning but should clean up nicely. The carved piece in the middle is faced with burled walnut veneer. Antique Carved Walnut Architectural-Furniture Filigree Gingerbread Pediment
Antique carved piece of walnut(I believe it is walnut but not 100% positive) architectural gingerbread for use on house. Display or furniture restoration. This piece measures 11in wide, 3in tall and has a depth of about 1in and is slightly curved. Would be great for display or to add some flair to your porch or other area of the house.
