Solid without repairs. Wood has a nice smooth matte sheen. I only use lemon oil to preserve the nature wood finish. Conditions: Wood damage on the back(Photos# 8#9) Small crack on top(10) Neither of which detach from it's wonderful craftsmanship. Both are hardly visible when hung since they are on the backside and top. Small holes in back to hang& small holes on each end to attach to furniture. Pediment measures 50" Long by Almost 7" Tall by Almost 1" Deep. Home is smoke and pet free so your pediment will arrive clean. Pest and critter free. I have tons of pediments in my collection that I will selling in the next couple of months, the larger ones for pickup only in the Chicago Market. They are carved from Walnut with very ornate carved flowers and leaves that are carved all the way through. They both have a scalloped top and plain back. This was probably part of a settee or large chair, perhaps a chaise lounge, because it has holes where upholstery tacks were(see photos) Also, on each end there are holes for dowels(the photos show both pieces put together like an arch way(they would have to be doweled again or glued to stay this way) These beautiful pieces of wood each measure approximately 13 1/2" high x 12" across. So, together, they would measure about 24" across. The wood is about 1 3/16" thick. I was saying in one of my other listings how I bought a whole large box filled with a mixture of old antique hand carved pediments at the auctiion- I'll be listing them for weeks. So be sure to keep checking. This one is soooo pretty- and, it has one nail sticking out the back which I've left where it is, because I want you to see that it is an old forged iron sqaure nail. I don't know if this piece came off of a larger architectural piece, or if it was a piece of furniture, but whatever it was, it was grand, for sure. Measuring 5 1/8" widest, it is 8 1/8"tallest and 1 3/4" thickest. It weighs 1/2 lb and is all hand carved out of one solid piece of wood. The finish is beautiful on this one- a little dusty(it needs a cleaning, I have not cleaned it orr messed with the as found patina in any way) but really, with veryvery little wear that can be seen. Antique Victorian window box valences with female carved heads. They are wood with gesso type material forming decorations. Offering a set of 3 valences(50" wide X 6" deep X 14" tall. They came out of an old Victorian estate in Massachusetts. They are not in perfect condition as there are some medallions missing as well as a several chips in the gold finish. I have most of the missing medallions and the other areas can be restored. These would look fantastic in an old Victorian or Colonial style home. Please rely on photos for cosmetic condition. Gorgeous Old Vintage Carved Turned Wood Pediment Post Ladies Faces OKAY. Listing new items from loooots of places this week- we went up to Antiques on the Bluff in beautiful St. Joseph Michigan as we always do this time of year, and I found some really unique oldees. I'm also still listing items from the Route 127 sale in Ohio, and the antique store auction- sososo many cool things- you'll want to keep checking! This one is such a curiosity to me! I don't know if it was made to be an architectural pediment. Or a furniture pediment, but it appears to me as if it was made an never used. How sad, don't you think, because it is a hands-down gorgeous one of a kind piece. Now, I'm calling it old vintage in my title, but I do believe that it could be old enough to be antique. I purchased some very cool and very old antique pediments ... moreat the antique store auction. This is one of my favorites. It's carved from one piece of solid turned wood- you can see the marks on either end from the turning, and the carving is of two lady's heads- one upside down, depending upon how you tunn it. The detail is exquisite- please supersize and look at all of my photos. It doesn't appear to have ever been stained or varnished- the dark color of the patina is natural, I do believe. That being said, I do think that it looks lighter in my photos on my screen than it does to the eye. It measures 2 3/4" wide, 3 3/4" deep and 13 3/4" tall. It's heavy, weighing a smidge under 2 lbs. The back as wells as the ends are flat. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. There's minor small cracks to the wood where there is no movement at all. There's some teenie nicks and nibbles to the wood- and one that looks like it could have been a fallen out knot, or original- I'm showing it in photo 6 and it's on one of the ends. Offered is a nice antique wood pediment backsplash with great carved wood designs. I believe the wood to be mahogany or oak. But not sure. It came from the estate of a family member who was born in the early 1890's so would probably date around the turn of the century. Measures 47" long, 8" wide(in center) Bottom is 3/4" thick, and top center approx 2" thick, tapering out to 1" thickness. Original finish, some"blistering" of the varnish or stain. FABULOUS OLD HEADER This is so yummy and fabulous for your french shabby chic home. Its got great gesso style work and a beautiful cupid in the center. The wood looks very old to me and its definitely not perfect. The left side is missing almost all its gesso and there are some knicks to the front and the right side corner is coming apart ever so slightly. The front for its age is in pretty good condition with only minor gesso loss in areas. Please see close up of photos for condition. Its really old and not perfect but its a beauty. Not sure how you would hang, you will have to add some brackets to get it hung properly, it doesnt come with anything to hang it. Description Fabulous ornate antique carved wood pediment- probably mahogany with a woman's face in the center- detail in carving is magnificent- deep eyes. Earrings- It measures 23" wide and 18" tall and 5-1/2" deep. It is in good condition with original finish- I purchased a pair of there at the Brimfield Antique Show and am listing one right now. Thankfully someone did save it and even put hanging wire on the back and had been enjoying this for some time. This measures 16 ½” tall x 10 ⅞” wide at the widest part and is 1 ⅞” thick at the top. Each side of the piece has a small screwed in panel with a nail or peg for mounting. Measures approximately 33.5 inches wide and 9 inches tall. The wood is about.3 of an inch thick. Weight is about 1 lb. and 8 oz. Condition: Displays very nicely. But there are a few small splits in the wood and some overall wear and scratches. The back of the piece shows more scratches than the front due to prior mounting and use. No loose or missing parts.
