Deeply hand carved figures as pictured. Stained with some color, thick panel with holes for hanging at top and bottom, original one of a kind carving from respected New York studio, ready for display. Deeply Carved Furniture Crest Pediment Fragment
This pediment has an interesting shape. I call it a"fragment" because it looks like there was more to it. Maybe it was the top of a mirror frame at one time. The shell carving at the top curves over forming a small canopy. It is really quite unique! There are some blemishes and a crack as seen in the photos. The crack doesn't go all the way through so it is still quite usable as a decorative element. It is 26" x 11" x 2"

Handsome Vintage Marble Architectural fragment from Pediment Cornice Eyebrow Most probably a type of high quality Carera Marble with handsome patina. This Architectural accent came out of a very old pre 1900 building in Montgomery Alabama. MEASUREMENT-Approximately 20 inches long and about 8 inches WIDE. Very heavy. MORE are available if interested. PRICE IS FOR ONE PIECE I can only assume that it was originally a lintel of some sort. It has an Urban relict feel to it and could look great in a garden or some modern Office or home. This was originally some sort of an exterior lintel facade. Most historic commercial buildings have cornices to cap their facades. Usually found in buildings constructed before 1900, approx 70 years old or more and each piece is an great vintage Architectural element. Many like these could be used as art displayed ... moreon interior and exterior walls. As you can see in the photos there is aging but nothing out of character on such pieces. These have been outside for 50 plus years. The cornice could possibly even be polished-I have not tried it to clean them or polish. Although this old patina is handsome as is. An Architectural like this could be used for various purposes other than what it was intentionally made. I am not certain of its original use but I think it originally would fit originally across the top of the window. From research I found that heavy lintels. Like droopy eyebrows, ostensibly were originally used to protect the building, and to decorate it. During the last century. Cast stone was commonly used and even in the 19th century. for exterior window and door surrounds or lintels, copings, parapets and balustrades, cornices and friezes, and sculptural ornament. This architectural fragment is one part of this Southern Antique collector's possessions. Who as the old homes were destroyed back in the 1930's- 1950'd, this collector carefully salvaged the old architecturals and stored in for more than half of a century. Up for auction is an old antique walnut architectural element. This is a piece I picked up along the way thinking something could be done with it. Its a heavy solid piece with a good look.
