Interior looks like a silk material lining has some fraying and torn at hinge There scratches and overall dings. Brass fittings are discolored. I will not list all the flaws with the gloves because I feel like these are just a little extra treat. There are stains and discolorations. Two pairs are crocheted. One has small pearlized button, the other has flowers. Two are what I would call kid leather one pair is soft and other lighter pair is very stiff. These four sets are hanging out of the box in the photo and seem much older than other ones. The other pairs look more contemporary. There is one pair of long white. one pair of shorter white, and black pair of long sleeves( no finger only a thumb loop) that you would put over black gloves, a pair of short green. Believe these are all a nylon blend. I am not an expert so I'm really trying my best with these items. Found altogether and that's why am listing as a lot. Label on the back of box looks very old and owner believes it's from early 1900s. It has a colored paper label and features the words"Austrian Court Boxes" and a coat of arms with double Eagles. No labels on gloves anywhere. Box is approximately 14 inches long by 4 inches wide 3 1/4 inches deep. All the gloves seem very small and I do not want to put them on or mess with them! I think they're more for display. They do show stains and have condition problems. Beautiful Oak Pediment with carved leaves and burl embellishments. Also Eastlake spoon type carving on the ends that also have a hint of the Art Nouveau look! There is a arch in the middle that shows that it is attached with dowels. Not nails. Also the top(or could be the bottom if you like) has a ledge that is 1 5/8" wide. The piece measures 35.5" long and is 6" tall. I believe this came from an antique buffet or some other piece of furniture. There is hardware in the back. So it is ready to attach it to your wall. This pediment has some of the most unusual characteristics I have ever seen. The header has a wonderfully carved serpentine top. There are very ornate side carvings, and then those round metal grommets all along the pediment. Looks almost Medieval or Gothic with that Victorian twist.
