Lovely Old Vintage Carved Solid Tiger Oak Wood Standing Pediment Piece or? I didn’t have a lot of time to shop this week because of visiting relatives. But I found some awesome pieces regardless, and I’ll be going to my favorite flea market this weekend, so I’ll have a boatload of items, fingers crossed, that will be new. I appreciate your business! This one has more questions than answers for me! Of course. What caught my attention about it right away, was the beautiful tiger graining of the oak- my favorite wood. Also, I'm calling it vintage, but I do think that it could be old enough to be antique, finally, what da-heck is it? I'm calling it a pediment, but did it used to be a part of a furniture, or architectural piece? I don't know, it will be for you to decide! Now, I want to point out that the oak base that it is attached ... moreto on the front I do not think is original. I think that was added later so that the piece can stand on its own- and it does, while on a flat surface- I had to take if off of my rug to show you(hence, the photo on my sidewalk) as the rug was too bumpy for it to stand independently. The wood is solid, not veneer, and you can see the quartersawn graining at the back too. The piece has simple hand carved details that have been painted(on the insides and borders) in a dark red. I see peeks of the red on the sides of the piece too, but it's quite worn in many spots on the side, so it's only in peeks- you see more of the wood underneath, there. I did notice that the insides of the two cutouts in the piece either were once all red, as I think the sides were, or they were left unfinished and you can see some of the border red on the cutouts- it's hard to tell for sure, and you have to be up looking inside the cutouts to notice- that's what I was trying to do for you in photo 13. The piece is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. The finish is a semi gloss varnish, and you can see spots of wear to that and the stain- very minor. I'm showing in photos 8& 9 tha

For your consideration is this beautiful wall hanging tapestry with two ornate brass/bronze safety pin style weighted decorative pediments. Inscribed on the back of each is"made in Hong Kong" and an oval symbol with the letters SNA. They are gold colored and measure 6 1/4 inches wide. Overall with the floral tapestry it measures 21 inches long. They come apart just like a safety pin so you can put your own artwork on display. In excellent condition for the age. It mounts to the wall with one fastener(nail) through a hole at the top bracket. The coloring is more of a pinkish color than the pictures show. It measures 49" w at the widest point and about 45" at the bottom. It is 15" tall. It is missing a piece of carving at the top center. It is all heavy quartersawn oak. This is a superb mid 19thc mahogany wood pediment. Dating c.1860. The attention to carved detail on this pediment is excellent and very beautiful. The pediment is ornately and intricately carved with fine scrolling and pierced detail. To the centre the pediment has a leaf carved centrally with horned shaped carvings flanking. The arms of the pediment has scrolling and acanthus leaf detail- all carving in relief. Measures 13.75" max height x 37.25" length. Side view pic with my hand in the picture is to show you the thickness of the pediment, not any issues. if you notice the carvings on this piece are gorgeously/ perfectly done and look to all go to the same depth. on alot of later eastlake pieces the carvings became sort of shotty and not symetrical and just sort of poorly done and rushed.i believe this to be a very early eastlake piece judging by the extra nice carvings and attention to symetrical detail, and how old it really is. this one was done beautifully top to bottom. i meant to dust it before i took pictures but i forgot so any blemishes are just particles of dust or camera flash. this pediment really is an amazing piece and in amazing condition. Antique Shabby Barbola Roses Pediment Mantle Shelf Pelmet Bed Crown Cornice
This auction is for an Antique Vintage Rare Solid Wood Barbola Roses Pediment. The paint is original to the piece. The background is a shabby muted pale creamy yellow. The Rose swags are a soft shabby muted pink with soft mint green leaves. The swag tops are tied off by gold ribbons. The top of the board is painted a mahogany burgundy tone. Above that the wood is notched and painted in gold trim– The very top of the piece is unpainted which could easily be covered with a lace runner or repainted or simply high enough on the wall to be left as is. Or perhaps the new owner would prefer to paint the burgundy the same color as the roses to make it pop more. The paint is original to the piece. There is just a slight piece of the Barbola missing on the center rose swag. But would not really be noticeable with matching paint. If a person is artistically ... moreinclined, they could repaint to the shabby color(s) of choice. The odd thing about this piece is that to be completely a 3 sided pediment– it is missing the left side. Of course a piece could be added to this minus roses. Or the other side taken off and 2 new pieces put on both side with a paint to simply match the muted creamy yellow. The left top end has a slight slant to it, so I am thinking this actually was probably a longer mantle, pediment to begin with that was cut in two& that is why the odd side without the finish. It measures 44 1/2” across and is 10 ¼” tall and 6 ½” wide. So I think I am starting with a low starting price on this in lieu of the above factor. I’m sure someone creative out there has the ingenuity to figure the other side out. The original hardware is inside. But perhaps the new owner would want to have this refurbished. I have never hung this personally. It is a substantially heavy piece. Thus the expense in shipping because it is so dense. This antique French gesso plaque dates back to end of years 1800. It was probably a sampler shown by a local craftsman who found easier to frame it for carrying since it is a fragile item. Very good idea since it is now ready to hang to the wall! It is a pure merveille and features a stunning double arched floral garland of cabbage roses tied in the middle with a Marie-Antoinette bow and trailing ribbons. Lovely Antique Late 1800s Hand Carved Wood Pediment Turned Wall Decor So. I went to the auction of a lifetime this past weekend. A storage barn of an antiques dealer that passed about 10 years ago. She specialized in early primitives and American folk art and boy-oh-boy you do not want to miss this week. I took photos of the items that I bought for one full day, and still am not finished– but decided to go ahead and list what I have– enjoy! This one is sooooo pretty. And if you don't want it for wall decor. It's as simple as removing the hanger that the dealer put on the back! It's an antique pediment with lovely hand carved detail. I don't know if it started life as an architectural piece, or a furniture piece, but it will be yours to decide. It measures 19 5/8" long top to bottom and is 8 1/4" at its widest- the ... morecenter. It is 1 7/8" deep there at the center, but measuring from the very back of the piece, to the farthest sticking out part of the piece(the top, which angles out) it measures 4" deep there. It weighs 1 3/4 lbs and is in excellent solid and sturdy condition structurally. The patina is dark and yummy! You can see rustic wear to the wood and finish all over- very minor- scratches, scrapes,teenie holes, nicks, dings, light spots, dark spots and finish wear down to the wood(see photos 4&7 where you can see lighter, small finish wear spots) You can see two nails at the top. And some holes at the back from when it was mounted originally. The back gives some indiaction of its old life too, as you can see that it's lighter at the bottom than at the top. The white spot at the back is an old dealer tag, it will come off. It's dustydustydusty and needs a good cleaning, I have not cleaned or messed with the as found patina in any way.
