HAND CARVED QUEEN ANNE STYLE CREST / PEDIMENT
This is what I believe is a hand carved Queen Ann style crest rail or pediment. It is made of pine and measures 15" wide x 2 1/4" high x 1 1/4" thick. It was most likely intended to be used on a the top of a chair. We have more than one of these available. It is available for pickup or can be shipped by Fed Ex ground for 9.80 including insurance. c1850-60 VICTORIAN style pediment PITTSBURGH, PA hotel CHECKERED design 108x39"
Great door pediment- salvaged from a circa 1850-60 Pittsburgh hotel. I'found' this in my barn- hanging in the rafters were I was placing gable pediments. I thought for the longest time I had this piece listed- but alas it was not. I bought this piece about 5 or 6 years ago. Has a great checkered design in the triangle pediment area- the green paint is creak. Nice crackled finish. The top of the peak is unpainted- it must have been covered as the green paint was NEVER applied to the piece. The bottom edge needs to be trimmed- it has some soft spots on it- I tried to capture this in the pictures. I would estimate about 1 to 1.5" needs to be trimmed on the bottom edge for a smooth. Even edge. Measures 108.5" long is 39" at peak& 8.5" deep. Old square nails are studding the backside also. Has metal flashing on ... moretop edge. Wonderful size for headboard- over a door way or mantle- could also be re-used for a functional purpose to dress up a home or barn! Will need to send with our delivery service- $200-300. This is a nice piece of architectural salvage which I had hung above a double window in my breakfast room. It is now up for auction since I no longer need it. It measures 30" Wide x 7" H and is 2" thick at the top since it has an applied piece joined to it. It is wired and ready to hang or whatever use you have. I believe the shell or fan design designates this piece to be Queen Anne or the American Colonial period. The fan or shell at the top has a small piece missing which is barely noticable when hanging on a wall. I'm sure a little wood filler could take care of it. Outstanding Arched Pediment Crest Period Style "As Found"
This is sometimes called a"Broken Arch Pediment" The center section probably had a turned wood finial but some did not. The layered and curved crown molding create a wonderful decorative effect and pieces similar to this are often used as overdoor decoration. The front(the side you want to display) is in relatively good condition. The back side appears to have rested on a damp floor and has some deterioration. Please look closely at the photos to determine if you can use a piece in this condition. Questions are always welcome. The crest is a large 46" x 14" x 4" This crest should ship separately due to its weight it might damage smaller items if combined. This item came from a furniture and design company that went out of business in the 1990's. Here i have a new oak Georgian style single door pediment. The detail is great. This can be adjusted from 33" to 40" This was left over from a job i did. It would be difficult and expensive never mind the time it would take to duplicate this style pediment. I have one in maple wood( it is easier to paint) if you would like to paint it instead of staining the oak. Same price. Just specify
