The whole is raised on reeded bracket feet. This outstanding piece is totally original! All of the hinges. The glazed cupboard panel, the brass locks, the brass lock escutcheons and the working key are completely original to the piece. We replaced the dull gold dralon panels with the more up to date and contemporary regency red panels and apart from this minute cosmetic improvement the piece is the same as it was when it was constructed approximately 117 years ago. There is a minor black mark to the work top(see pic 10) but all in perfect keeping with age& use. A superb quality piece made by one of the greatest cabinet makers of the 19th century. Floral and scroll designs. The large mirror is beveled and framed by ornately carved walnut with burled accents. The mirror is in great condition with no breaks, chips or cracks. There is a small lamp shelf flanking the mirror frame on each side. The marble top base is magnificent. The green marble is in excellent condition ... morewith no breaks, chips or cracks that I can see. The base and marble are a unique shape due to the ornately carved columns on each corner of the base. The marble is cut to project out over the top of the columns. The marble has a deep double bull nose edge all the way around giving the affect of 2 pieces of marble. The base has 3 dovetail-jointed drawers with metal pulls. There is a small surface split in the wood where the crown meets the mirrors frame otherwise this piece is in excellent condition. I do not know the maker or exact date it was made. This piece is antique and will not be perfect. The mirror measures 88 7/8 inches tall, 46 1/8 inches side to side and 5 inches front to back. It weighs 74 pounds. The marble measures 11/16 inch tall, 50 3/8 inches side to side and 21 ¼ inches front to back. The marble weighs 62 pounds. Spectacular"Highly Figured Sold Maple" Chest of Drawers Circa 1895 I fully restored this lovely piece.It features incredible"highly figured" solid maple with Birdseye maple veneers on the oxbow top drawer fronts.All of the brass hardware. Including the key hole covers are original.As you can see the hardware is the icing on this cake! The original drawer locks are all in place and in excellent working order using the beautiful key I had made.The top of the dresser has incredible patina and some of the finest grain figuring you will see.The top is first class all the way. All of the drawers were totally rebuilt and slide like silk. The drawers feature the sought after dovetail joinery. I restored the finish all by hand using a custom rich stain to achieve the highlighted rich burgundy followed by many. Many coats of hand ... morerubbed varnish.When you rub your hands over the finish you will feel the superb depth and notice the beauty of the amazing maple grains. This is a"bonnet top" dresser meaning the top two drawers protrude and overhand the lower level drawers. The sides have great architectural design with the paneled construction.Like any fine antique. This piece has minor imperfections and character marks in the wood. The posts which hold the drawer handle in place are brass plated steel, some of the plating has worn off after 135 plus years.The photos show casters in the legs, they will not be included.I find they tend to split the legs.There is a knot depression on the upper left side(see photo) I think it adds character and figuring just like the top of the dresser. RARE - Antique English Yew Wood Dresser
This is a beautiful antique English dresser from 1810-30. It is made of walnut with a Yew Wood veneer on the front. Yew wood was usually only used in smaller veneered pieces or as accents to other veneers. The piece has two smaller drawers over three large drawers. It has a Biedermeier look to it. But the owner brought it in from England some years ago.you decide. The brass hardware is very old, but probably not original to the piece. The insides of the drawers are painted with silver radiator paint to protect against worms. It is in excellent condition. The picture shows one piece of the veneer off in the top right corner, which has since been professionally repaired. It measures 36" wide, 18" deep and 38" tall. We are pleased to offer this beautiful antique mahogany dresser with matching mirror. The maker of this piece is unknown and we believe this dates to the late 1800's- early 1900's. The dresser stands approximately 36.5" high. The width is 21 5/8" and the length is 46" The mirror is made from solid mahogany and has a beautiful broken arch pediment at the top with an applied carved design in the center. It measures 35.5" high to the top of the pediment. The width is 24 7/8" across the ached top and th emain body is 23.75" wide. Made from solid mahogany the dresser has a classic Chippendale style design with applied carved moldings on the bracket feet and reeded columns on the front. The dresser has four drawers with a divider in the top drawer. The drawers are all dove tail jointed and also retain the original ... morebrass pulls. The dresser appears to have had an early refinish job done on it. There are age and use appropriate scratches and dings on the top and feet. As well as a small white spot on the top. It has been repaired at some point and I don't believe the front legs are original to the piece which made somewhat hard to put an exact date on. The most of the interior wood surfaces seem to rough as if the it was hand planed. All the joinings on the back are chisel pegged(see photos) The dovetailing looks to be hand done but I could be mistaken(see photos) I would estimate this piece is from early 1800s. Being offered here is a vintage three drawer dresser with exquisite architectural lines and hardware. Please view pictures for details. We are not sure if the wood is walnut or oak. The overall height of this chest measures 66 ½" tall and overall 38 3/8" wide. The marble top measures 17 ½" deep and is 38 3/8" wide. The dresser is 17" deep and 36 ½" wide. The beveled glass on the mirror measures 29 ½" wide and 23 ½" tall. The wheels make this furniture stand 2" off of the floor. One of the knots in the wood on the backside has a whole in it. We did not notice any cracks in the wood on this chest. It has wonderfully old patina and the brass hardware is stunning on the burl finish of the dovetailed drawers. Being offered for sale is this Monumental American Empire Mahogany& Crotch Mahogany Dresser/ vanity with large Carved Paw Feet circa 1880's. This is a huge beautiful 19th century dresser that offers a tremendous amount of storage possibilities with all the drawers in crotch mahogany with the original glass pulls. The original crotch mahogany framed beveled dressing mirror with powerful S scroll mirror supports and carved Paw Feet with hidden casters intact on the feet and we believe this piece to also have its original finish. This outstanding Empire dresser measures 73 inches in height from the floor to the top of the mirror. Height to the sides from the floor measures 45 inches, height from the floor to the drop center portion measures 17 1/4 inches, total width of the dresser is 69 inches, total depth of 23 1/2 inches and weighs ... moreapproximately 200 lbs. The original beveled mirror measures 41 1/4 inches high by 24 1/2 inches wide. This dresser does disassemble into 7 pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving. This beautiful dresser is in servicable condition. Original beveled mirrors intact. No cracks. Center mirror swivels vertically. It is believed that the drawer hardware is original. It does not appear that it was ever refinished and therefore has a lovely patina. There are some scratches, slight warpage and small imperfections on the top surface. I bought this 35 years ago and at the time the maker's name and'1896' was faintly handwritten on the back. But the lettering has disappeared over time. Gorgeous carved solid walnut Gentleman's 6 drawer dresser chest original finish
This is a beautiful example of a Gentleman's dresser or chest. Early Victorian era and style. The sides and front of the dresser are solid walnut, as are the dove-tailed drawer fronts. With the added beauty of burled walnut oval panels. The black and brass teardrop drawer pulls are old and not reproduction, but not original to the piece. There probably was either a tw o- post earlier brass handle or a carved pull. T he finish is original. It has two vanity boxes on top. And the dresser is finished off with a small wood pediment bet ween the vanity boxes. I estimate this chest to be from the 1880's. Which makes it one hundred and thirty years old. It has had very good care throughout its' life. And is in excellent condition, with just wear due to age and usage. The burl veneer is all intact. None missing-which is incredible for ... moreits' age! There is one slightly lighter ring on the top and a few scratches on the bottom panel. But nothing noticeable. There are four drawers-the two in the center are slightly less deep and the top and bottom ones are a little deeper. Due to the design of the chest. There are carved and turned supports up the front corners of each side. Ending in a spoon-carved small corbel on either side. This piece has more character than most of the Victorian dressers I've seen and was probably a high-end piece in its' day. There is a key that came with the dresser, that fits the locks-but, they won't turn, for the most part. So, it could be made to lock, but, at the moment, it won't. The brass locks are all there. The measurements are: 41 inches wide by 47 inches high by 17 inches deep. I am happy to take and send more photos. If you are interested. The dresser can be picked-up.
