Carved broken arch pediment, 4 doors on the top, 2 doors on the bottom, 5 dovetailed drawers, drop front leather top writing surface, brass hardware, beautiful wood grain, and ample shelving. Each of the drawers has a working lock and the key is included. There are 3 glass shelves on the upper center and 6 wood shelves in the upper left and right unit. Each of lower doors conceals one wood shelf. The upper unit is lighted but the current cord should be replaced. This item is in wonderful antique condition with only minor signs of age appropriate wear as pictured. The original antique bubble glass is free from breaks or damage which is very hard to come by. The backing to the upper unit looks to be lined in a off white colored wall paper and there is a red drip stain to this surface as seen in image#18 on the lower left side. Wear to the finish on one of the shelves can also be seen in image#18. Breakfront measures 92"h x 72"w x 16"d in total. The upper unit measures 56"h x 70"w x 12"d. The lower unit measures 36"h x 72"w x 12"d. I have added many pictures so you can get the best idea of its beauty and condition and supersize all pictures for some great closeup shots. This is a wonderful English antique mahogany dresser from circa 1870-80's. It has round solid mahogany drawer pulls. 4 larger drawers and two side by side drawers up top. Dove-tailed joinery and solid mahogany make it a great buy, and a good looking one at that. It measures 49 3/4" wide by 47 3/4" high and is 19" deep. English Regency 6 Drawer Chest Dresser, Egyptian Motifs, Mahogany, ~1820 Antique
This is an English. Circa 1820, six drawer chest or dresser. It is made with thick, bookmatched mahogany veneer over pine, double raised panel sides, and fluted columns resting on strong spade feet. The original Egyptian Revival gilt brasses celebrated Britain's 1798 defeat of Napoleon in The Battle of the Nile, and the subsequent discoveries of Egyptian art and culture. The chest is 50" high, 40 3/8" wide, and 23 1/8" deep. Five drawers are approximately 6 3/4" high, and the bottom drawer is 8 1/2" high. I cannot find a maker's identification, but the frame and drawers are hand numbered in pencil. This chest was professionally refinished approximately 30 years ago, and it has been used irregularly since that time. Small areas in the secondary wood of the drawers were filled at the time of refinishing, but ... morethis appears to have been done for cosmetic purposes only. There is no movement in any of the joinery including the legs, and the drawers work very well for a chest of this age. As is appropriate, I suspect the chest with drawers weighs 250 lbs. There are age appropriate scratches and bumps here and there, and particularly on the top and top drawer face. Also, there is long-term wear to the veneer at the location of the ring pulls. Many of the hardware posts(which hold the ring pulls) have been replaced, and the two original posts on the bottom drawer are a bit loose. Further, some of the nuts that fasten the pulls to the drawers have been replaced. Lastly, one of the drawer locks is missing, as is the key. I would recommend Ball and Ball, Exton for the repair, replacement and or keying of the locks. I believe the clean lines and strong profiles of this chest exemplify good Regency furniture. English 1840 Antique Mahogany Small Chest or Console. This small chest or console was expertly reduced in size about 100 years ago from a larger chest or dresser. Originally hand made about 1840 in England. Mahogany wood is beautifully figured. The top is cut from a single shimmering plank. Drawers have hand dovetailed solid oak sides and later brass pulls are from about 1890. The old finish is very fine with warm antique patina and has been waxed and polished. So only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain the glowing luster. Size is 41" long. 12 1/2" deep and 26 1/2" tall. Antique English bow front regency chest of drawers with matched cross cut mahogany front. Pencil molding with turned mahogany pulls centered with etched mother of pearl inlay. The two over three dovetailed drawers rests on turned legs and a scalloped skirt. Dimensions are 47" in width, 20 1/4" in depth and 45" tall. This piece has a beautiful wood grain. Circa 1870 Mahogany Bow front Sturdy See description for full condition report, This stunning handcrafted piece was made in England in 1870. The warm patina of the mahogany has a satin luster that would mesh well with most decorating styles. The outward bow of the facade brings an element of brightening elegance to any setting. The two-on-three style drawers provide a great deal of storage. All of the drawers come equipped with all-brass hardware and lock escutcheons. However there is no key. The edges of the drawers are ... moredecorated with a fine bead molding. Just under the top molding is a handsomely inlaid double end spear design done from satinwood string inlay. The piece sits on a pair of very sturdy shaped bracket feet. The dresser is around 145 years old and in good condition overall. The drawers open easily and shut tight. The brass pulls are fastened securely to the drawers although they are not original to this antique dresser. There is a small chip in one as pictured. The mold around the top has been repaired on all sides. There is also a strong repair on the front right foot. You will find some separation marks in the darker spots on both sides and along the front moulding. There are signs of character building wear on the entire piece and the top has a number of light marks and stains. The pictures are a great representation of the condition.
