Antique- Vintage 1930. I'm assuming 1930 from the patent# on the bottom. 1739363. Perfect Shaker for the person that likes it lightly salted and peppered. Great pc for any table! Combination salt and pepper shaker in one.Non-magnetic metal and glass tubes. Near mint. near meaning that only a few paint chips on the bottom. Lever on the bottom flipped one way lets the glass tube out to fill, then shift lever the other way to refill other tube. Push lever on top allows either salt or pepper to flow depending on which way you have the button pushed. The buttons are on a sliding cover. When the cover is slid to the center, each compartment is open just a bit. Decorative gilt on each paw with one black ear and one orange ear each and red lips/tongue. The pepper shaker has smaller openings on the top while the salt has larger. Cute expressive painted face detail. Condition is good overall. Several cracks in the glazing and manufacturing flaws such as areas where the ceramic looks split or feels rough to the touch from excess ceramic pieces. A few worn areas of paint. ~ Antique Salt Box ~ This listing is for an antique porcelain salt box. The white box has a fancy raised design with angled front corners and a decorative cornice on the front edge. The front has a blue windmill and house scene. Gold details on the cornice and edges, and a word in gold that could be"Salt" or"Salz" the gold script is very old and faded, and I'm not sure what it says. The sides have smaller versions of the wind mill scene. The hinged top is shaped to match the shape of the box. The backing is also wood with a carved design. A hole in the backing was used for hanging it on the wall. NOTE: the backside of the wood backing doesn't look too good as apparently it wasn't taken down when the kitchen was painted. And there are a lot of paint drips on it. The inside of the box is stained and dirty. The ... morebacking is held on by 2 short nuts and bolts. And wood washers. NOTE: there is a hairline crack above the top bolt(see photo) A lot of the gold is worn and faded; some is totally gone. Some of it is still there and in good shape. Measures approximately 5-7/8" tall without the cornice; 6-3/4" to the top of the cornice; 4" front to back. And 4-3/4" side to side. The wooden backing is 11-3/4" tall. Vintage Ceramic Salt and Pepper Shakers from Japan Before WWII
Here is a Vintage Pair of Ceramic Salt and Pepper Shakers from Japan. They are Miniuature. Standing about 1 1/2 inches tall. The Shakers are Hand Painted and have what appears to be Gold leaf on the tops and sides. They have Hand Painted Flower Designs on 2 of the 4 sides. The other 2 sides have a Gold Leaf Design. The Tops have Stars in Gold. They both have cork stoppers on the bottom and they look like the originals. The Word Japan is Hand Painted in Red on the Bottoms of both. This Dates them to before WWII, after that everything was marked Made in Japan not just Japan. I have not been able to identify the maker or the exact age but I think they may be from the 1920's or 30's. They are Really Cute and Very Collectible!

Workingmen, and ill children– holds a fish under his arm. Benten– the goddesss of music, arts, beauty, and water– plays a biwa lute. Both Ebisu and Benten are one of the Seven Gods of Fortune in Japanese folklore. The Ebisu shaker measures about 2 3/4” high. And Benten measures about 2 1/2” high. Ebisu has a chip just above his forehead. Both shakers have some wear to the enamel and gilt. There are no stoppers.

They are made of a ceramic or porcelain type of material and appear to be hand painted. They stand 2 3/4" high. They are 7 1/2" around at the widest. The bottoms have small cork holders in them. Antique P L Limoges France Salt Pepper Shakers Hand Painted Artist Signed Porcelain Description ~ this is a lovely set of Limoges porcelain salt& pepper shakers with their original cork stoppers. They are hand painted and signed by an amateur artist in pastel blue flowers that are outlined with green foliage and offset with small touches of yellow and red. The tops are painted in a full clean gold and the shape is of a simple and elegant rectangle. Both are marked with a green underglaze P L Limoges France. This is a La Porcelaine Limousine mark. Condition ~ is excellent to mint. This set is extremely clean. The decoration is full and bright. I have not removed the cork stoppers and do not know if they still hold any salt or pepper. The artist signature is on the edge of one shaker and the only possible faults would be a couple of tiny ... morepits from manufacturing in a couple of discrete areas. Mark ~ the mark on both shakers was the first factory mark used by La Porcelaine Limousine from 1905 into the 1930’s. This company was formed by P. Jouhanneaud and Joseph Redon in the old Redon factory and closed in 1938. The factory was later reopened by Alexandre Chastagner.
