These salt and pepper shakers are charmingly decorated. Each tapering cylindrical body has a rich hand hammered surface in the Japanese taste. One is decorated with an applied mixed metal crane and lily-of-the-valley floral bush, and the other is decorated with an applied mixed metal bird and a goat playfully eating the leaves from a bush. Both also have a ground of applied silver granulation. These scenes are artistically rendered and create a dynamic scene against the sparkling silver surface. Both have plain, detachable cap lids that have been beautifully pierced in a starburst and anchor motif. Each shaker is stamped under the base with the identifying marks of the Gorham Manufacturing Co. the words Sterling& Other Metals, and pattern numbers A92 M and 11 EX, each lid is also stamped with a number. Both measure approx. 3" high, and are in excellent condition overall. This lovely shaker set would make a striking addition to any table, and are a wonderful example of the eclecticism of the late 19th century. These lantern are heavy weight 950 Sterling Silver. The craftsman ship is excellent. They have been stored for years in the original wood box and I do not believe they were ever used. Each stands 3 3/4" in height on a three footed base. They are marked Sterling 950. The top unscrews as pictured for filling. There is still a label attached to the box that reads OKUBO BROTHERS Tokyo. Japan. I believe these were probably brought back from Japan i after World War II. The pair weighs between 59 and 60 grams. They are both in excellent condition. I did not polish and will leave that to the new owner. They will polish up beautifully. Safely packed delivery will be FREE. Antique/vintage european salt or pepper shaker of a little girl wearing a golden suit wearing pants. Hat and pointy shoes holding a floral basket a very rare shaker. I was told it was made somewhere by the Alps mountains in Europe its from the 1940's by a antique dealer not sure but it definetly does have age. Shaker has a plastic plug on back. Its made of a weird material im not sure its plastic or thin wood. Its hand painted. In good condition has some wear, little color fading on red lips on face, little tiny scratches not much, needs cleaning but still in good shape for being this old. If your looking for a rare shaker this is the one for you very collectible.

The design is very unique with a background of pink peonies with blue and pink flowers and leaves. In the center of the shaker is a band of green and pink flowers with a delicate gold scroll with a yellow background. The tops and bottom both have detailed gold moriage. The porcelain is very delicate and light weight. The pieces are unmarked, but the porcelain and styling are indicative of pre-WWII Japan. The shakers measure 3 1/2" high. 2 1/4" in diameter at the base and weigh 4.1 oz as a set. The bottom of one shake is damaged as seen in the photos. However the visible portions on both are free of chips, cracks and fleabites. The foot of the one with damage has a bubble on the surface of the edge, which is painted ... moreindicating it is originally as such. The top of both shakers have some gold paint loss from use or storage. The intricate designs on the sides and the moriage are in wonderful condition with no notable marks or wear. There are no corks. Despite the damage on the one piece, they display beautifully and are a gorgeous set. The pattern is amazing and they will make a wonderful addition to a salt and pepper shaker collection. Shipping. It dose however have a small chip on the bottom underneath out side edge. It dose show considerable glaze crazing associated with antique porcelain all over the shaker. I don't see any cracks however! There is NO writing on the bottom to tell who made it. Its origin and time period is unclear. But as porcelain pieces go it's definitely old!
