Antique Ceramic Salt & Pepper Shakers Handpainted Limoges Style possibly Japan?
A charming set of very old salt and pepper shakers that measure 2.5" x 2" They are still functioning. But the holes are larger than modern shakers so need to use coarse salt and pepper rather than the boxed. This pair is not pristine. It shows its age and wear. The base of one is slightly cracked and there are aging spots throughout. The corks are not original and not interchangeable as the openings are different sizes. Each shaker has a chip under the rim. I've included many untouched photos. The condition is very visible in these. I am guessing these are from the early part of the last century based on others I've seen. They probably are Japanese, though they do not have any markings. Again, I am only guessing based on previous items I've seen listed for sale, I am not an expert. Absolutely beautiful antique cranberry hand painted salt and pepper shakers with 2 part lids and in mint condition and even original box. These come from the mid to late 1800's. Each side has one large thumb print and both are tapered down. They measure 1 3/4" square at the bottom and stand 2 1/2" tall. The box has no writing on it but I am sure it is the original box. Hand painted Antique Salt and Pepper Set. The back says"Hand Paint"and"Made in Japan" surrounding two interlocking triangles each containing a T. The set has not been used since about 1950 when my grandmother died. She got married 100 years ago and may have even inherited it from her mother as she was the only daughter. It sat on a knickknack shelf since then. It is obvious that the set was used at one time because some of the border paint has worn away. The salt shaker has larger holes than the one for pepper. Both have cork stoppers. I don't know the purpose of the little dish that matches but it's part of the set. The dish is approximately 5-1/2" square. Offered here are the cutest little handpainted ceramic bugs with big eyes and heart-shaped pupils! They are VERY OLD and in VERY GOOD CONDITION! I have researched for many hours and cannot find anything like them anywhere! I have inherited these from my grandmother. Who has been deceased for 30 years! The black striped relaxing bug has a tiny paint chip(not a chip in the actual piece) on his left brown shoe and it appears that the painter left a patch of natural ceramic material unpainted on its back and that is where you will see JAPAN in red letters. Antique Handpainted Royal Crown Versailles Bavaria Salt and Pepper shakers
Beautiful Salt and Pepper shakers in Good condition. They are handpainted and signed with the name Carlyle. I state they are in good condition because of a couple of flaws. 1) one is missing a cork 2) one has a small chip as pictured. There looks to be a faint line down one side of the same one with the small chip that is barely noticeable but may be a hairline crack. I am no expert and try to be honest in my representation. Lovely Antique Handpainted(?) Pink Salt and Pepper Shakers With Embossed Flowers
For your consideration is a set of Lovely Antique Handpainted( Pink Salt and Pepper Shakers. I thought they might be handpainted because the pink is uneven around the bottom edge of the shakers. There are no chips or cracks. My husband thinks these belonged to his great grandmother. But he is not sure, so we do not know the age of them. They are unbranded. There are 3 embossed flowers on each. They are 2 inches wide and approximately 1 1/8" tall. There is a rubber stopper on the bottom of each as you can see in the picture. Antique Nippon Hand Painted Salt and Pepper Shakers Up for auction is a beautiful antique salt and pepper shaker set. Stamped in blue on the underside of each shaker with the words Handpainted Nippon. The lovely floral pattern is gilt accented on a white background. This set is in very good used condition. With no chips, cracks, or crazing. The only flaw I found was one silver color"flea bite" mark about the size of a pencil point on one of the shakers. These shakers still have their original corks.
