ANTIQUE NIPPON ~ Windmill Pattern ~ Pre 1921 ~ SALT & PEPPER SHAKERS SET
THIS IS A RARE PAIR OF NIPPON HAND PAINTED SALT& PEPPER SHAKERS! I don’t want to remove the corks to find out if these have ever been used. As the corks are in very good condition and are inserted very tightly. Each shaker is marked“Hand Painted Nippon” on the bottoms. Rims(top& bottom) are lined with 24K gold. The holes on top are also trimmed in gold. Along with a unique scroll pattern. The issue date is before 1921. They measure 2 ¾” high, 2” at the widest, and 1 ½” across the bottom. They have a nice landscape scene of a windmill. Red roofed barn and a large tree. No chips, cracks or crazing, tiny specks as seen in photo#2. They do not look near as big as the picture makes them out to be. NOTE: According to the McKinley Tariff Act. All Japan-made wares exported to the USA were marked NIPPON(which means JAPAN in Japanese) ... moreuntil 1921. In 1921 the import laws were revised and the words“Made in. had to be added to the country of origin. Antique Nippon Morimura Brothers Shaker
Antique Hand Painted Nippon Shaker. For auction is an antique shaker that could be either a sugar shaker or possibly a large salt shaker. Is it decorated with peach colored roses with gold overlay. The top of the shaker has a ring of small raised gold beads around the edge and gold star shape in the center. The handle is gold with most of it rubbed off. It is marked on the bottom with the Morimura Brother’s Nippon mark. The shaker stands about 3 ½” tall and 3” across the base. Antique Nippon Hand Painted Salt and Pepper Shakers Up for auction is a beautiful antique salt and pepper shaker set. Stamped in blue on the underside of each shaker with the words Handpainted Nippon. The lovely floral pattern is gilt accented on a white background. This set is in very good used condition. With no chips, cracks, or crazing. The only flaw I found was one silver color"flea bite" mark about the size of a pencil point on one of the shakers. These shakers still have their original corks. Two antique Japanese? Nippon? porcelain salt or pepper shakers decorated with hand painted roses. Gold accents and delicate moriage dots. The round shaker measures 3" high and is missing the bottom plug. The hexagonal shaker measures 2 1/8" high. Both are in very good condition- no chips or cracks, but a little wear on the decoration.
