A charming set of very old salt and pepper shakers that measure 2.5" x 2" They are still functioning. But the holes are larger than modern shakers so need to use coarse salt and pepper rather than the boxed. This pair is not pristine. It shows its age and wear. The base of one is slightly cracked and there are aging spots throughout. The corks are not original and not interchangeable as the openings are different sizes. Each shaker has a chip under the rim. I've included many untouched photos. The condition is very visible in these. I am guessing these are from the early part of the last century based on others I've seen. It is absolutely amazing to me how many beautiful things they had that were never used. Possibly they were impulse purchases or more likely, gifts that were never or rarely used. These Charming Pair of Salt and Pepper Shakers inspired by Olde English Toby Jugs. With their cork stoppers are another wonderful find. They stand about 2 ½” Tall and approximately 3” across the tops to the outer edge of handles. The Man’s handle is a little wider than the woman’s. There is some sort of ... moremarking at the underside. But it seems impossible to figure out what it says. I have photographed them so perhaps someone might recognize what it says. There is a little piece of what seems to be perhaps a paper napkin behind the cork stopper on the man shaker. I have not attempted to remove it for fear of breaking it. This Victorian ceramic master salt cellar measures 5 1/2" high in back x 6" wide and has an attractive cobalt blue floral decoration on it with the word"SALT" in black letters on front. The bottom is marked"GERMANY" and it still retains its original tiger maple lid which is hinged in back. This type of master salt was used either on the countertop or also has a slot on back so it can be hung on a wall in the kitchen. very old antique ceramic chicken salt or pepper shaker. Pretty good condition for its anticipated age and story. This cute little shaker was found outside under an inch of soil in Northern Wisconsin. I just saw a little bit of white near the base of a tree. started unearthing it. And there it was! Some red and black paint still exists on this fat little white chicken. It is not cracked, but there are small chips here and there.they seem to actually add to its patina as none are large enough to take away from it. the bottom plug is missing, probably was cork. White glaze over pretty intricate ceramic showing tail feathers, eyes, and each wing feather. Gotta love it! Lot Antique Vintage Salt Pepper Shakers Asian Glass Metal Ceramic at least 50yrs
Lot of assorted small salt and pepper shakers. There are 3 singles which are Asian theme ceramic or porcelin 2.25"3" tall. 2 of these have small chips out of them last photo. One other single is glass and metal it looks like a ships lantern 2.75" tall. There is one set of blue glass 2" tall, I think these are the oldest they are in very good condition. Last are 2 small metal sets 1.5" tall which need polishing and I can't get the tops off. I inherited these and don't know much else other than they have been boxed up for 40+ years. LEFTON IN 1956 EITHER IN THE USA OR JAPAN. THEY ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION EXCEPT FOR THE CLEAR EYES THAT ARE MISSING. THESE COULD EASILY BE REPLACED AT AN CRAFT STORE. BOTH THE OWLS ARE WEARING MORTAR BOARDS WITH LIGHT BLUE TASSELS HANGING DOWN. THE ONE ON THE LEFT IS HOLDING A DIPLOMA AND THE ONE ON THE RIGHT IS HOLDING TWO BOOKS STRAPPED TOGETHER.
