Vintage Hand Painted Salt & Pepper Set-Orange Poppies Gold Paint-Signed Cooke
Up for auction is a vintage pair of porcelain. 3 1/4 inch salt and pepper shakers. The background colors are a pale yellow and blue. You can't really see it in the photo's. They're decorated with hand painted, orange poppies. The tops are painted in thick, gold paint. The bottoms are signed by artist Luella Cooke. I've seen this artists' name before, not certain where, but I believe that she had painted porcelain for Limoges. These shakers come with cork stoppers. There is a little bit of damage that can be seen in photo's#1 and 3, the lower, left corner of one shaker. Otherwise, in excellent condition and more beautiful in person. If you have any questions. Antique P L Limoges France Salt Pepper Shakers Hand Painted Artist Signed Porcelain Description ~ this is a lovely set of Limoges porcelain salt& pepper shakers with their original cork stoppers. They are hand painted and signed by an amateur artist in pastel blue flowers that are outlined with green foliage and offset with small touches of yellow and red. The tops are painted in a full clean gold and the shape is of a simple and elegant rectangle. Both are marked with a green underglaze P L Limoges France. This is a La Porcelaine Limousine mark. Condition ~ is excellent to mint. This set is extremely clean. The decoration is full and bright. I have not removed the cork stoppers and do not know if they still hold any salt or pepper. The artist signature is on the edge of one shaker and the only possible faults would be a couple of tiny ... morepits from manufacturing in a couple of discrete areas. Mark ~ the mark on both shakers was the first factory mark used by La Porcelaine Limousine from 1905 into the 1930’s. This company was formed by P. On each shaker are 2 hand painted daisies or"brown eyed Susans. They have butter yellow petals. A brown stamen& charming pointed olive green leaves. Below each flower are 3 columns of gold surrounded by a fine jet black liner. The tops of each are lush gilt extending down the sides& that too is has a fine jet black edge. Both have 13 pour holes with larger holes on one. Photo 5. I have washed them& placed new cork stoppers in each one. I have placed an old black glass hat pin in one of them as they can always to used for storing hat pins as well. That comes with them. Too. Antique/Vintage Salt Pepper & Toothpick Japan Hand painted & Signed- Violets
This is a beautiful hand painted and signed three piece Salt. Pepper and Toothpick holder made in Japan. It's one of the prettiest sets I've ever seen! The three pieces are done in"Card" shapes, with a diamond for the lidded toothpick holder, a heart for the salt, and a spade for the pepper! They are all made of a fine white porcelain, with hand painted violet flowers and gold trim around the top edges. So pretty! The toothpick holder features a removeable lid, and the salt and pepper still have the original cork stoppers in the bottom. They each stand about two inches in height, and are around an inch in width. The toothpick holder and salt have a small"made in Japan" sticker; and the pepper is actually signed in red on the bottom by the artist who painted this beautiful set! They are all in wonderful vintage ... morecondition, with no chips or cracks that I've found. There is a small area on top of the pepper that feels slightly rough to the touch, and a tiny indentation in the gold on the opposite side of the same piece, although this still has the gold trim in it so I believe it was there when the piece was painted!
