The vinaigrette has Maker's Mark for Nathaniel Mills. One of the most famous silversmith of his time. The piece is relatively larger in size than usual vinaigrettes are. The exterior is machine turned and has outline of cartouche where one would have initials of the owner. The cartouche is blank, thus giving the new owner the chance of putting his own initial on the piece. The back of the piece has bright cut flower design in the center amidst the machine turned motif. The edges of the box are nicely scalloped and highlighted with a groove all along the edge. The piece has a beautiful floral thumb piece, which can be seen in the photos. The inside of the vinaigrette is gold washed and has a hinged grill under which the sponge with the smelling salts would go. The grill is also gold washed and has a beautiful and delicate floral and foliate design. The flowers look to be roses? and are situated in the middle of the four edges of the grill showing only half of the flower amongst the scrolling foliage. 2 1/2" high an 2 1/2" wide. there are three chips onthe top of one. 1 major, 1 small& 1 tiny. Missing one cork, other than that they are in great condition. No makers mark. Made of very white porcelain(identified by the bottom. the top is ivory color with gold accents and beading around the edge. Background is a deep moss green and dark reddish-brown(sienna? maybe airbrushed on. The roses are deep pink variations with brush marks and teal gree-blue leaves fade to white tips. Absolutely beautiful antique cranberry hand painted salt and pepper shakers with 2 part lids and in mint condition and even original box. These come from the mid to late 1800's. Each side has one large thumb print and both are tapered down. They measure 1 3/4" square at the bottom and stand 2 1/2" tall. The box has no writing on it but I am sure it is the original box. This Victorian ceramic master salt cellar measures 5 1/2" high in back x 6" wide and has an attractive cobalt blue floral decoration on it with the word"SALT" in black letters on front. The bottom is marked"GERMANY" and it still retains its original tiger maple lid which is hinged in back. This type of master salt was used either on the countertop or also has a slot on back so it can be hung on a wall in the kitchen. Condition: there is a 3 1/2" hairline on back side(not seen from front) and the wooden lid is cracked on back and the brass hinges are loose due to the brass tacks coming loose. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN STYLE HEIRLOOM PLATE SALT AND PEPPER SHAKERS
Selling this pair of antique Victorian style salt and pepper shakers. Bottom is marked heirloom plate with the number 395. Shakers stand 5" tall. Research done on them has indicated they are likely to be late 1800's in age. And unknown silver colored material, possibly silver plated. The silver coloring in has heavy wear, showing the metal below. Although they have wear, there is no scratched or dents. Please see all pictures so you can properly evaluate the condition. Antique 19th C VICTORIAN CHILDREN SALT PEPPER SHAKERS Girl & Boy Kate Greenaway
This is a pair of 19th century hand painted pottery figural salt and pepper shakers. They are Kate Greenaway style Victorian children with blue eyes and blonde hair- the little girl has her hands in a muff and is wearing a green and pink bonnet and the little boy has his hands in the pockets of his long coat and has a black hat with gold trim. They are unmarked and are in good condition without any chips or cracks and very little paint wear- they both have pin hole sized glaze pops that occurred during manufacture and are mentioned only for accuracy's sake. fine and rare 2 pair of antique Victorian salt and pepper shakers ca 1890's. Wonderful set of a pug dog or bull dog with another dog, in good shape chip on back of mutt not pug, otherwise great, the next set is inspired by Kate Greenaway of a boy and girl in a bonnet, pair in great shape, one age line on back of girls bonnet, otherwise mint, the shakes measure about 3 1/2 by 3 inches, very rare to find salt and pepper shakers this old, they really had just come into being in the 1860's so these shakers were a bit of a novelty at the time, again piece in good shape for age,hope they go to a good home or collection, items sold as is thanks and good luck!
