This listing is for a Porcelain Squat Ribbed Melon shaped Salt and Pepper Shaker Set. The shape is often referred to as muffineer or sugar shakers. The set is hand painted with pink roses surrounded with green leaves. Between each rib is a purple violet with gold dots trailing below. The top is trimmed in gold and blue. The Squat Melon design was extremely popular in the early part of the 20th Century and likely date to that period. There are no maker marks on the piece. The porcelain is a cream with a white glaze. The shakers measures 2 1/2" in diameter. 1 3/8" high and weigh 4.4 oz as a set. There are no chips. Cracks or fleabites on the piece. There is very light crazing on the bottom of one. There no usage marks. The handpainted design is in excellent condition with no notable marks. The bottoms have light wear. Vintage Japan Enesco Hand-Painted Porcelain Salt and Pepper Shaker
You are bidding on a pair of Vintage Japan Enesco hand-painted and egg-shaped porcelain Salt and Pepper Shakers. This pair has been in my mother's storage for several decades and was never used except for"decoration" only(no salt or pepper enclosed) They were in my mother's collection from approximately the 1960's or early 1970's. This pair is in very good to excellent condition. They are approximately 2.5 inches in height. There does not appear to be any cracks. Scrapes, marks or nicks in the porcelain. The bottom of gold-gilded feet are slightly rough from normal use of sitting in china cabinet or dining room table. Please view the photos for more detail. One Shaker is painted with red and yellow roses. The other is purple pansy flowers. Both Shakers have 3 holes at the top for pouring.
