Here is a nice Antique Set of Hand Painted Bavarian Salt and Pepper Shakers. On the bottom of the Pepper Shaker is stamped R. C. Versailles. Bavaria and the signature E.C. Meyer. On the bottom of the Salt Shaker is the signature E.C. Meyer only. For some reason R.C. Versailles Bavaria is not stamped on the bottom of the Salt Shaker. Not sure why but they are obviously a pair. Both have the corks and are in very nice condition. The pepper looks to be in near perfect condition with an exception of some very minor wear on the bottom where it contacts its resting surface. The Salt Shaker also has some wear spots on the bottom as well.along with a few small chips that are barely noticeable. They are not obvious. Vintage Hand-Painted. Footed Hard Paste Porcelain Muffineer- Sugar Shaker This is a beautiful sugar shaker which is made of white paste porcelain. The floral designs are hand painted in vibrant blue and yellow with a warm pink background. It also has a gold trim along the feet and around the rim. This shaker is in good condition and there are no chips. Cracks, or other issues that I can find, other than the wear on the gold trim, which one would expect if it was an antique and used often. The muffineer is 3.75 inches wide at its widest, 4.25 inches tall with the feet, and 3.75 inches tall from top to bottom without the feet. The face is 2.25 inches in diameter. I do not know where it was made. ANTIQUE NIPPON ~ Windmill Pattern ~ Pre 1921 ~ SALT & PEPPER SHAKERS SET
THIS IS A RARE PAIR OF NIPPON HAND PAINTED SALT& PEPPER SHAKERS! I don’t want to remove the corks to find out if these have ever been used. As the corks are in very good condition and are inserted very tightly. Each shaker is marked“Hand Painted Nippon” on the bottoms. Rims(top& bottom) are lined with 24K gold. The holes on top are also trimmed in gold. Along with a unique scroll pattern. The issue date is before 1921. They measure 2 ¾” high, 2” at the widest, and 1 ½” across the bottom. They have a nice landscape scene of a windmill. Red roofed barn and a large tree. No chips, cracks or crazing, tiny specks as seen in photo#2. They do not look near as big as the picture makes them out to be. NOTE: According to the McKinley Tariff Act. All Japan-made wares exported to the USA were marked NIPPON(which means JAPAN in Japanese) ... moreuntil 1921. In 1921 the import laws were revised and the words“Made in. had to be added to the country of origin. Antique Art Nouveau style porcelain salt& pepper set. As pictured. Hand painted with roses and guilded tops. One shaker is marked Germany, as shown in closeup. Tops look rough in 1 corner each, but gold covers it; Doesn't appear they were touched up, so I am guessing they were flawed when manufactured. Also, lines of decoration have a few skips in them I believe were in original paint job too. They both are a pumpkin orange color& both have a bow around their necks knotted in the back. Both have white triangular looking eyes with jet black pupils. They are both seated on their haunches with th eir big paws in front of them. Their ears are somewhat droopy or a bit floppy! They both have short stubby tails. Too! This is an odd collection of 4 salt& pepper shakers all vintage 1940-50's and made in Japan. The apple is in excellent condition. Great colors, with it's original cork and measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" The mandolin is in excellent condition, great colors, a bit of glaze cracking, with its original cork, and measures 3" x 1 1/2" The pillow is in good condition, good colors, but does have a crack that shows on the front as well as the back. It doesn't appear repair has been done to the crack. The pillow measures 2" x 1 1/2" The watermelon looks good but at closer inspection you can see it has been broken in half and repaired. Sitting for a display you don't notice only when examined closely. The watermelon besides is flaws has great colors, its original cork, and measures 1 3/4" x 3"

It dose however have a small chip on the bottom underneath out side edge. It dose show considerable glaze crazing associated with antique porcelain all over the shaker. I don't see any cracks however! There is NO writing on the bottom to tell who made it. Its origin and time period is unclear. But as porcelain pieces go it's definitely old!
