Surrounding griffins in bronze as well and I polished just a minor area to show you the lustier it will brings if you wish to shine it yourself or merely keep it like this. which is also lovely. The center having leaves and at far they appear to look like Fleur de Lis. You could. if you wish to doll this up even more and add a globe around the interior of the center opening. It originally had a central oil lamp with a ring of 9 candles around the perimeter. The oil lamp is now converted to hold an electric bulb. The bronzework on this chandelier is superb. With massive construction and fine Louis XVI styling and details. It is nicely patinated to a medium bronze color and we did not attempt any restoration or polishing. This is a counterweighted chandelier that can be easily adjusted up and down. However, the adjustment chains are short and not much adjustment is presently available(replacing the chains would solve this if additional height adjustment is desired) The wiring and socket are old and in poor condition and must be replaced before use. I believe this is an early French fixture which was completely restored in the 1980s. Solid bronze, very heavy. Overall good condition. One drop shade is cracked and repaired. Another shade with several small chips. Oxidation to the gilt surface. Especially around the drop bulb sockets. All wiring is good. I have for auction this magnificent genuine antique gilt bronze and fine french crystal chandelier. It will date to the late 1800s, it came to me through a house clearance here in the South of France, as you can see in my photo's, this chandelier is for candles, as it was originally, in approx the 1920s/1930s it was wired for electricity, but this wiring was so old and distressed. It literally d i solved in my hands. So it has been removed and put back to its original state, I still have some of the old bulb holders and faux candles from the 1920s. Made of wood, please see last photo, I am happy to include these for you in this sale; I am sure it could be easily and inexpensively changed back to be lit by electricity if required. We can see a predominant Art Nouveau theme with Louis XVI elements. It originally had a central gas lamp and two additional lamps at each end. The gas lamps are now converted to hold electric bulbs. This is a counterweighted lamp: the center section can be extended/retracted with a chain and pulley system. This system works as it should except the chains could be longer. The bronzework on this chandelier is excellent. With high quality construction and nicely done details. STUNNING ANTIQUE FRENCH ITALIAN ORNATE BRASS BRONZE CRYSTAL WATERFALL CHANDELIER
We are pleased to offer this stunning. Antique crystal chandelier. This wonderful fixture is French styled and features 4 waterfall tiered sections, two on the top and two on the bottom. The center of the chandelier features an extremely ornate brass/bronze band with large crystals inside the band. The chandelier is 6 light; you will note a couple of the light sockets are missing bulbs, but they all function perfectly. The brass/bronze is absolutely beautiful throught this fixture. It is embossed with delicate and intricate patterns. The same pattern is also found on the original ceiling cover canopy which is also included with the fixture. The chandelier features 12 crystals on the 1st waterfall top section and 24 crystals on the second tier. There are 12 large crystal around the circumference of the chandelier's center band. Very large 12 branch Estate Vintage or Antique chandelier in the French early 18th C style. Pictures show a bit"browner" than actual piece. I think its the lighting or my camera. Has very nice details and classical maiden head design. Dates to about the 20's-40's. Wiring looks newer. One recently sold on Ebay that was near identical(except only 8 light) was listed as 1930's(And sold for $6500 or best offer) so I'm unsure. Came from a large old house near Atlanta Ga. The wiring was tested and finctional on all 12 branches but this is sold as is due to shipping and buyer will need to accept responsibility for making sure wiring ... moreis to code and safe upon installation. Chandelier lights have bobeche cups that can be removed on each branch, and this could easily be made into candle burning. Very very heavy solid brass with patina, probably sealed with lacquer? Has a almost bronze finish, but probably just the brass mellowed with age. There is some extra pieces of chain included and currently it has approx 36" total of chain and cap. The chandelier is 23" Wide. It measures 32" tall, not including chain and cap parts. It is many cast brass construction which has various removable center parts and branches, around large screw core. The candle covers are okay but some have cracks or pieces missing and should be replaced to make it look perfect. The wiring to branches is on top of arms not inside like cheap hollow chandeliers. NO REPAIRS or SOLDER OR DAMAGE, EXCELLENT condition! Chandelier may be partially unscrewed in center to accomodate a smaller shipping size, so please be aware, though getting it ready for your room will take minimal reassembly, just simple attaching together again.
