The fixtures retains its original polychrome. The overall color is a sorta gold(with an orange hue) And with accents of jade and red. Lovely. The stem of the chandelier is quite spectacular. The ceiling canopy. Too. Hidden in the chandelier finial is on/off switch. Pretty cool but it no longer works(and cannot. Alas, just be replaced) The vertical wire. New, is cloth-covered like the original. Wholly restored and with new wiring. This fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed! Vintage Antique 5 bulb cast metal hanging chandelier. Manufactured by the John C. Virden company. The fixture is part of the Aldersyde Series. From the 1930's-1940's. See picture from their 1941 catalog. This chandelier is in excellant working condition. It has not had any restoration to the polychrome paint finish& retains the original antique gold patina as well as the green and red floral motifs. The original porcelain sockets are intact, the only known thing done to the wiring is it has been wrapped. There is an on/off switch on the base of the unit but it has been deactivated. Uses standard base bulbs, 60 watt max. Chandelier is ready to hang, no bulbs included. As seen in the pictures the chandelier works. We have been using it in our dining room for 3+ years but our home is more of a farmhouse so we recently(last week) ... moretook it down. Identical to the other wonderful Skyscraper ceiling pendant light listed on Ebay. Except it has no mounting bracket. In fact I used the same photographs because I could see no difference between the two. Attributed to the Virden Lighting Company of Cleveland Ohio. How unusual to have a matching pair. 16 inches tall with a 6 inch opening. Black enamel accenting is nice. The glass globe is about 12" x 12" to give you an idea of the size. This has been in storage for many many years.
