Mid-European BIRD Chandelier with 6 arms and Reflectors ca.1675
A very special Austrian or German Bird Chandelier from around 1675 This bronze Bird Chandelier is of unique form with a large ridged ball below the juncture of the six arms. The urn-shaped candle cups have very decorative turnings. There are no marks on this Chandelier to suggest the actual age but Sotheby's Associates guaranteed both age and originality of this chandelier. The column consists of several parts that are held in place with an iron rod through the center. By removing the wedge at the top of the iron shaft the chandelier may be disassembled. The uniqueness of this special chandelier lies. Among other things, in that each candle arm has a special finial that represents a bird. These birds were cast as part of the arms but the large finial bird that surmounts the chandelier is removable and can be taken apart as shown in the ... morephotographs. The individual arms are also extensively decorated and support a drip tray with a candle cup at one end and a hook at the opposite end. The Chandelier is in very nice condition for its age. The arms fit in the ring by means of a hook and are labeled with their matching Roman Numerals. The reflectors with the small ornamental arms are held in place by swallow tails matched to the cut-outs in the rings. There appear to be no repairs or restorations. A very fine antique. Circa 1920's, French Louis XV style brass chandelier. The fixture has a brass circular frame with three satyr masks below the coiled brass arms with frosted glass shades. The frame holds a colored marble, or stained alabaster, dome shade. There are three cast brass floral chains to hang the frame that gather to a collar below the brass chain up to the original brass ceiling canopy. It is in working order with new wiring and plug for ceiling connection. From ceiling canopy down to dome brass drop finial measures 47" tall, the brass dome frame 18" diameter. The frosted glass shades are not original to the chandelier. They are without damage. Excellent condition: brass in original finish, no dents or breaks. The dome shade is without chips or cracks.

Gorgeous. Unusual shape, vintage, heavy, 6 Arms, solid brass, ornate and detailing hanging fixture/chandelier. Double row of 12 ears of wheat hanging down from in upper level and single row of 6 ears of wheat descending from the bottom level. All parts made out of solid brass. Except canopy. Very good vintage condition. 39" tall( with chain) 20" tall( w/out chain) 22" wide. Canopy( brass plated) is 5" diameter. This 6 light chandelier takes regular base bulbs. Bulbs not included. This is a lovely set of 6 arms which may have been taken from a chandelier or perhaps were just decorative pieces on a piece of furniture. There is a tiny hole at each end which could have been for a prism or a brad for attaching to a piece of furniture. Regardless of their former use. The color, form and cast detail is excellent. Which gives it 18 lights in total. Very large diameter as well. 36” Don’t find these to often.
