Unless there is something really distinctive about the fixture. What got my attention with this set was the Lightolier label, and ... morethat the sconces are remarkable original. They retain their original paint, glass shades, tôle shades, mounting buttons, and distinctive glass cups on the bottom. Well, all this just makes me happy! Of course. The sconces are also just simply beautiful. And I do rather have a fondness for red. In the last image you can see the distinctive glass shades. Wholly restored and with new sockets and wiring. This set is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed! DETAILS: The fixtures accept standard base 60W bulbs. I would suggest appliance-size bulbs. Each sconce has an on/off switch. As I don’t trust old switches I deactivated these. If this feature is important please contact me. COLOR: Red with gold detailing. SIZE: The sconces are 10-inches high. The back-plated are 4-1/2-inches wide. The shades are 6-inches wide. They project 7-1/2-inches. CONDITION: I love writing this: there’s no damage. The gold paint looks very good. The red paint does as well. Although it did require some minor touching up, mostly to the round back-plates. The gold gilt Tole type finish is in good condition, showing just the appropriate amount of wear for the use and age of the pieces. This is a Large Scale Pair of Vintage Italian Tole Acanthus Leaf Wall Sconces. Each sconce is approximately 28 1/4" tall by 22 1/4" at its widest. There is a Made In Italy metal tag. And the sconces have holes in the end of the leaves to apply crystals if the buyer so wishes. The finish on the sconces is more of a bronze tone than gold, a previous owner may have applied a surface finish to them or they just might need a good cleaning, however the photos of the back of the sconces show what is most likely the original gold leaf finish. There is a round hook on the top of each sconce if one wishes to simply hang these as candle wall sconces. Gold colored metal, just the right amount of patina, could use a good cleaning. Small base candelabra bulbs. The pair were removed from storage in a basement where they had stayed for some time in a unheated environment. That has resulted in some surface humidity brown marks on the metal. For your consideration is this lovely pair of Vintage electrified wall sconces. The pair are quite unique unto themselves and although Appearing to have Spanish influences they are most likely Italian in origin. But of this we can not be certain as no makers mark or label can be found. Each sconce has a torch like appearance not unlike what would be found in a historic castle, each also have what appears to be artistically foiled gold leaf florentine styled grape? or perhaps tobacco leaf accents.
