And for many decades thereafter, the Lightolier Company(extant today of course) made some of the very finest fixtures. Their designs were always simply ... moredazzling, and the quality was the very very very best. When you restore vintage lights such as I do, these aspects are so obvious they tend to jump out. At first I thought they were custard glass. But these shades are quite different. Custard glass has a. Ah, solidness about the color. The shades here are more akin to a pearl. And with a luscious luminescent quality. When lighted, the glow of the bulb makes it look like a fire is inside the shade– there is a red glow, and this moves as you move around the shade. I cannot really describe the effect(and nor could I get an image) but the effect is obvious in person and really striking. I could find no info on this type glass. So, I do hereby name thee Fire Glass! The ceiling mounts are original to the shades. The fixtures are petite. The shades are 9-1/2-inches wide. And 5-1/2-inches high. The overall height of the fixtures is 9-1/2-inches. The scale is ideal for a hall, powder room, or walk-in closet. Wholly restored and with new wiring. This pair is ready to hang,

THE BACK STORY: The fixture was made by a company in Topeka. Kansas. Remember that far far away time when things were made in the USA? Anyway. The company ... moreclosed in the 1960s. At the liquidation sale, a man purchased thousands of still-in-the-box lights and stored them in the massive attic of his business. Most are still there. You can imagine my excitement discovering this Aladdin’s cave of treasure! I HAVE MORE: If you need more just type the amount needed into QUANTITY(just above the Buy It Now button) The fixture has stamped copper fittings. And with an antique finish– like an old copper penny. The glass shade is a Fresnel type. And I do love a Fresnel shade. Note also the nice copper rim to the shade bottom– a protective device. You can see the obvious Eames-era shaping of the ceiling mount. The fixture was intended for a covered porch but would also look very good indoors. The fixture is. Of course, in mint condition. DETAILS: The fixture accepts one standard base 60W bulb. COLOR: Copper with patina. Clear glass. SIZE: The fixture is 8-3/8-inches high. And 4-5/8-inches wide at the bottom. The shade is about 3-5/8-inches wide. CONDITION: I love writing this: there’s no damage. The socket and wiring(modern plastic) are original and in fine shape.
