An amazing fixture globe from 1911-1912. This is a globe and globe hardware only auction. The fixture is nowhere to be found. This from early in the electric light era. Very rare. Hardware is a clamshell type hinge. I have found these on other sites(full fixtures) for $2250.00. I didn't find any cracks or breaks in the globe. The only chips are tiny and will be covered by metal hardware. These chips are most likely part of the production process. There are two sets of clamshell hardware included. Identical to the other wonderful Skyscraper ceiling pendant light listed on Ebay. Except it has no mounting bracket. In fact I used the same photographs because I could see no difference between the two. Attributed to the Virden Lighting Company of Cleveland Ohio. How unusual to have a matching pair. 16 inches tall with a 6 inch opening. Black enamel accenting is nice. Exceptional design in this Lightolier vintage 1970s import made by the well known German firm Glashutte Limburg. These would look great in many modern interiors. Impressive blown glass modern bell shade measures 12" tall, 11 1/4" diameter. Bold green color case with white, just as Emeralite used to create. Suspended by a heavy cord and three black bolts(one has allen bolts, may or may not be original, but looks very close) White cord has yellowed with smoke, you either clean them or replace with new, in a custom length for your location. Glass is excellent, no chips, cracks, scratches, or repairs. As you can see, there's 4 available, doubt they'll last long as a large set, so how many would you like? Antique Vintage Lighting Art Deco Aluminum Pendant Ceiling Light Fixture 1930's
Description This listing is for a set of 10(ten) 1930's Vintage Light Fixtures. They were made by Curtis Lighting out of Chicago. As you can tell by the pictures. These fixtures are aluminum and in great shape to be from the 30's. They originally came out of a 2-story department store and have been sitting in the second story of this store ever since they replaced the lighting with florescent lights. The fixtures have been in the same store the entire time and very well cared for all these years. I have 10 of the actual large round light fixtures which if you look closely at the 10th picture. You can tell there is a gap on the under side which allows light to be reflected onto the ceiling. There may be some small area's with a few tiny rust spots, but not very noticeable as you can tell by the pictures. There are four layers and ... morea shiny top which adds to the look of the fixture itself. These measure from the base to the tip of the top approximately 8 1/2 inches. The diameter measuring from the bottom outer edge is approximately 21 3/8" wide. I have 6 of the cone shaped pieces that fit into the larger round fixture itself. They have 3 longer pieces that attach onto the cone. At the bottom of these. There is a prong which simply slips into the fixture. I am missing one of the longer pieces which attach to the cone, however, you could easily make one yourself. As you can tell by the pictures, one of them is even held on by a screw(which could be cut down more flush to make it not as noticeable) Hanging from the ceiling-it would not be noticeable at all. These measure 12 3/4" measuring from the ground standing on the 3 prongs to the tip of the cone. The cone itself measures 8 3/4" and the diameter of the smaller hole on the top of the cone measures 3/4" The widest part of the cone at the bottom measures 3 3/16" I have 6 of the ceiling fixtures that attach to the top of the ceiling. And occupied most of the block between East Tioga and East Venango Streets. The factory backed up against rail ... morelines. As was common, and there would have almost certainly been a rail spur leading directly to Gill loading docks. The Gill buildings are extant, although they look a lot less attractive than they did as pictured, proudly, in Gill catalogs. The immediate area around the factory was all housing(and still is) and it can be assumed that many of these homeowners worked for Gill– an easy commute. All this seems like an ancient time, a lost age far, far away when America actually made stuff. Quality stuff. Too. And when people didn’t have long commutes to work, and when railroads were powerful and important. Sigh. I’ve collected Gill Glass for years now and have long admired the quality of their fixtures and high style. But normally I come across Gill fixtures from the 1930s and 1940s. And have never before offered this fixture. The fixture is also wondrously original and retains its canopy(with a Gill sticker) The six white glass shades look simple enough but when you hold them in your hand they are immediately recognizable as being beautifully crafted.
