And for many decades thereafter, the Lightolier Company(extant today of course) made some of the very finest fixtures. Their designs were always simply dazzling, and the quality was the very very very best. When you restore vintage lights such as I do, these aspects are so obvious they tend to jump out. Please click here: I’ve offered other Lightolier versions of this style fixture but I’ve never had one this large. The shade is a whopping 16-inches wide! The large shade has a red( outer surface and a white inner. These finishes are original and in very good condition(in the images the lower edge has some small chipping to the white; I have since touched this up) There’s a gorgeous. Delicate inner glass shade. Yep, I really love Lightolier. The wiring is new and cloth-covered like the original. Nice. The fixture is ideal for a kitchen. The fixture is also large enough to hang over a dining table. I’m very pleased to offer this stunning 1930s chandelier with six custard glass shades! Each of the five arms holds an especially lovely shade. And a sixth shade is on the bottom of the fixture. Wow. The chandelier is mostly brass. And the stem is beautifully detailed. I do not know who made the chandelier. But it is of high quality. The finial. Shades, chain, and ceiling canopy are all original. Nice. The chandelier is not actually restored yet. I will finish polishing the brass. And fully rewire. The exposed wire will be cloth-covered like the original. All this will take a week after payment is made. This fixture will be shipped wholly restored and with new wiring. Ready to hang, and with all the mounting hardware needed! DETAILS: Each arm accepts standard base 60W bulbs. The center shade is lighted by two sockets; these bulbs should be 7-1/2W round appliance bulbs(higher wattage bulbs could damage the wiring the clusters above the two sockets) The brass will be polished. It will not be lacquered. The fixture is all brass save a silver disk at the top of the stem. I cannot explain the why of this. The chain. Not brass, is painted gold. COLOR: Brass. However, the fixture is not actually bent wood. It is molded plastic! Well, it was the 70s. I thought it was bentwood until realizing that there were no visible wires(save the vertical wire) How. I wondered, did they get wires inside wood arms? Then it occurred to me: the whole was molded plastic. And with hollow arms. The fixture looks like wood. Hence my belated realization. In any event, I liked the fixture even better knowing its true composition. Kinda cool. Very 1970s. There are five clear glass globes. And these sit in silver dishes. The original ceiling canopy(not shown) is included. The fixture is on the large-ish side. It is 22-wide. And the main body is 20-long. The length overall is 33-long. This can be adjusted up/down. So. Later friction among various shareholders resulted in the brothers leaving the company in the late 1920s, and founding Moe Brothers Manufacturing. In 1938. The company relocated to Fort Atkinson. Wisconsin. After the city agreed to sell land– adjacent to an all-important railroad line– to the company for one dollar. Moreover, the city built a modern plant(at 700 Oak Street) With the understanding that the company would pay rent of $1,800 for twenty years. The company was able to hire one hundred employees(no small figure in the Depression) and this increased to one hundred fifty two years later.
