For auction: 3 pieces of cast and wrought iron. The cast iron'star' or stylized cross is rather recent. The end that mounts has been filled with wax. I don't know why. The arrow is vintage and old. the end that fit into another piece is corroded but still functional and strong. The hook is a wrought iron piece that appears to be recently cleaned from ages of paint and corrosion free. Questions welcome.

As one is a bit larger than the other, and the decoration on the porcelain is not the same, but on two lamps in the same room, not on the same table, probably not one person in 100 would catch they are not a matched set. Both 2 1/8" tall, the larger porcelain bead has a floral motif and measures 15/16" in diameter. The other has the double happiness symbol and measures 7/8" in diameter. Both are in excellent condition, no cracks or chips, ready to grace your lamps. Looks like pretty standard coupling on bottom, and they did go on harps here at home without any issues. WEATHER VANE:Antique Finial, Gilded Copper & Iron, Painted Wood 1800's,35" x 13"
WEATHER VANE: Antique Finial. Gilded Copper& Iron, Painted Wood early 1800's. 35" x 13" This is a wonderful old Finial which came off of a building in Columbia. Pennsylvania, which was built in the early 1800's. So I assume that the Finial dates to that time also. Columbia is on the east bank of the Susquehanna River. South of Harrisburg. It was founded in 1726 and became very prosperous in the 1800's as the terminus of the Pennsylvania Canal. There are many very elegant remnants of its past prosperity. The building that this Finial came from was once one of them. The Finial stands 35 inches tall and is 13 inches wide. The top part has four hollow copper leaf forms. A long iron spike springs up from the center with a 4 inch diameter copper ball. A little more than half way up. The whole is fixed to a wooden support ... morewhich is painted a dusky green. The leaf forms. Spike and ball are all gilded over what seems to be many layers of paint and probably earlier gilding. There is a great deal of wear to the gilding and to the iron spike. The end of one of the leaf forms has been bent a bit and there is a ding on the ball. But. At least in my eyes, these things are as the freckles on the nose of life's perfection. For this old Final has a great deal of quirky character and terrific visual appeal. It was obviously made to be seen from far below. So I tried to include some photos from down low. As it is now the spike is easily removable. On the whole. The Finial is in pretty good shape and is certainly an interesting and charming relic of early 1800's American architecture. The finial weighs 5.705oz. It is 5-1/8” long x 2-3/4” wide. The screw part is 3/8” wide in diameter. I could not find any markings. There is wear to the gilt work and patina. Please. Pair of antique wood newell post tops caps finials oak Eastlake
Pair of antique oak newell post caps in great useable condition. The top portion is solid oak covered with ornate oak details. These pieces are nailed to the block with small finish nails. Most of the detail work is in great condition with a few small cracks in the wood originating from the nails. Otherwise just normal wear and tear. A little bit of crackling in the varnish finish. One cap has a lighter finish than the other, looks like a wood stain was added later. There are a few small chips missing on the edges of the base but not very noticeable. The base measures 6 7/8" x 7" stands 5 3/16" tall.
