Absolutely stunning chandelier. Incredibly heavy 40 lbs or more. Just over 30 inches across making a 60 inch circumference. It is hanging down about 40 inches the way I have hooked it for the photos. Each post is 15 inches long from the leaf tip to the end of the brass and copper ball. This looks as though it has been re painted. It has been painted over on the electric wires. The iron has some slight pitting underneath in small areas but it is a normal issue considering its age. There are 4 chains plus a cap with more chain to hang lower if needed. Featuring a hammered texture this wall sconce fixture set consists of two smaller sconces on either side of a larger sconce. Sconces appear to have been modified with electrical wiring and vintage electric candles. Electric candles have also been decorated with wax to resemble a candle with wax dripping down the side. Architecturally these sconces have a medieval sense to them reminiscent of Gothic decor and would not be out of place if used as church or religious decor. In fact these sconces were part of a lot of items that did come from various churches in Chicago Area. But the construction looks crude and they have a great patina. This pair did come from a 1920's mansion, but not sure if they were original to the house. There is a hook on the back to hand them up. These hung outside of a residence in Brussels Belgium. On the front door left and right of the door. But covered under a roof of the entrance. So these were protected from the rain etc… On another note. These sconces are not made to hang them straight in open air. These are not waterproof etc… These come with 5 pieces of glass each. We replaced these with new ones as the old ones were cracked and missing. The glass is new. 4 on each side of the sconce and one underneath. Originally these were painted or finished is a black paint. Rust was coming trough here and there. So somebody in the past finished these in this reddish color finish. You can either leave these ... morelike that. Which I personally prefer as it shows the age and character of the sconces much more. You can either strip the paint of or paint over this color to make it a more distract appearance. Just to give you a couple of ideas. Here’s another blast from the past during the Gothic Revival style in home décor during the 1960’s and early 1970’s. This Wall Sconce is made out of metal or what was called Pot Metal back in the day and painted over to look like wrought iron. However. This one may be painted cast aluminum. It has a flat satin paint finish and was a less expensive way to get the look one was after without the expense of genuine wrought iron, plus it’s also light weight when hanging on the wall so if it came crashing down it wouldn’t do very much damage to the wall or whatever lied beneath. There is no makers mark on the back. But it does come with a ruby red diamond pattern hobnail glass ... morevotive candle holder which glows beautifully when a candle is lit. The glass votive still has it’s original ribbed rubber band at its base so as to mount into the sconce without it slipping around. There are no cracks, chips or breakage and is in excellent vintage condition. This wall scone measures approximately 17-½” inches tall by 8” inches wide by a depth of 3-½” inches. 1970's Vintage Genuine Wrought Iron Gothic Medieval Style Wall Sconce
And here we have available this vintage wall sconce also from the 1960's early 1970's in the Gothic Revival style in home décor which is made out of what I believe to be genuine wrought iron metal. It is quite a heavy and a solid piece showing a natural texture finish on the front and a spade shape on top. It has a fluted drip plate and the candle holder cup has a scalloped edge. There is a gold brass crown piece around the candle holder part which I assume used to hold a tall glass cover over the candle which is missing. There is no makers mark. But it does have the number 1127 embossed into the back. It does not come with a votive glass candle holder since it's meant to hold a tapered candle of which there is some minor residue in the cup. It measures approximately 12" inches tall with the ruffled base 3" inches ... morein diameter. There are no cracks, chips or breakage and is in excellent vintage condition. Here’s another Spanish Mediterranean Gothic Spanish Revival style in home décor during the late 1940's- 1950's and early 1960’s. This Wall Sconce is made out of genuine wrought iron. It has a flat matte painted finish and is very large measuring in at approximately 20-1/4" inches tall by 9" inches wide at the candle plates which holds two taper candles. Up for sale is a 4 Light Hammered Bronze Chandelier. I am not sure if this is more Gothic Revival or Arts and Crafts in style. It was retailed by John? of Pennsylvania. The label is a gold foil and is 1/2 missing. The piece has cloth wiring and is in working condition. The sockets have a E with an arrow going through it. It is quite a heavy piece at almost 14 pounds. The piece hangs 22" from the ceiling and is 17" wide. The ceiling cap is made of a different material- it feels like a heavy tin. Would look great with some Quezal shades. I have included two etched glass iridescent finish shades. Which came with the piece when purchased. This crusty 50+ year old survivor is freshly removed from an old porch in Michigan and needs TLC. The lantern measures an impressive 16” tall(add 5” for the massive link chain) x 8” square near the top x 4” square near the base and has wrought twist corner elements and wrought floral topper. The glass is a rare olive amber crackle blown into an iron mesh. I see no breaks in the glass and it has no wiring. It is obviously rusty under a later coat of black paint: I see no rust-through. This a fabulous antique Stickley Era hammered brass and wrought iron hanging pendant lamp. It measures 17" tall and the design is that of the Arts& Crafts/ Spanish Revival Era featuring florets. Leaves, and a beautiful large amber glass prism. It is very detailed and has a hammered surface that appears copper in color although I believe the metal is actually brass or wrought iron. The upper part of the lamp is brass as is shown by the interior section. The original cloth wiring is still intact and lamp is in good working condition but the new owner may want to have wiring replaced just to be safe. All are in very good condition but the amber prism does have flea bite nicks around the edges. Antique Gothic 6 Arm Wrought Iron and Pressed Tin Medieval Chandelier Dungeon
This is a larger 6 arm Gothic Wrought Iron and pressed tin chandelier. Looks like it belongs in a Medieval Dungeon. I am not sure of the pressed material but the main structure is wrought iron. Measures about 30 inches across and 12 or 13 inches tall. It is rusty and needs to be cleaned up and rewired. I did put a bulb in one of the sockets and plugged it in and it lit up but it doens't look safe. I think this was probably made to be direct wired and someone put a plug on it so it could be just plugged in. Some of the sockets are wobbly. It has a chain on top for hanging. This is very heavy as well. I don't know the maker or age of this chandelier. I think there was a piece of glass inside the wire center at one time but not since I have had it. Magnificent iron standing candle holder measures 39 3/4 inches tall. From floor to tip of the prickett- pointed piece. This sculpture looks similar to some antique lightning rods. The top part is shaped like a flower. Complete with stamens. The feet extend 12 inches wide. At widest point. The top flower-shaped piece can be screwed off of the stand. The drip tray also comes off. As it's in between the flower-shaped piece and the lower rod. The piece has some type of gilt paint. Which is worn off in places. It's quite heavy. I am not sure exactly what this item is made of. It looks like it's iron that has been shaped by hand with tools. I do not know the age nor the maker of this candlestick. Pair Vintage Wrought Iron Gothic Spanish Revival Candle Holder Wall Sconces
This is a great looking pair of vintage wrought iron Gothic/Spanish revival candleholder wall sconces. I'm not sure how old they are. But you can see they have good age. One measures 12 1/2 inches tall. The other 13 inches(31.8 cm, 33 cm) They're each 9 inches wide(22.9 cm) They protrude from the wall 3 3/4 inches(9.5 cm) The detailed hand work is really beautiful. They're all original and have never been repainted. They each have a little hole on the flat star base of the candleholder section. So with a little ingenuity they can actually be turned into lights if you like. They're both in very good condition. With just embedded dust on them and a few tiny areas where paint has chipped off. Rare. Vintage quite large, exterior sconce light, made of wrought iron, and speckled, air bubbled, antique glass! This is a large light, it is 25" in height, diameter of the light is 16" and the size of the backing plate, that mounts to a wall, is 15" x 5" The wiring has been upgraded in the recent past, and it works great. I was told that this beautiful, ornate light was removed from an early Public Works building, in Palmdale, California, that was demolished in the 1970's. This light was salvaged from that building. It is painted an antique gold and is in good working condition. Originally there appears to have been glass in the panels(6 pieces)you could easily have any color stained 0r textured glass replacements cut.they are simply held by tabs that bend over the glass. HUGE Vintage Wrought Iron French Italian Gothic Dragon Head Chandelier Fixture
Hello! Up for bids is a stunning. Huge, gothic wrought iron chandelier. Either French or Italian, I'm not sure. It didn't fit my dining area, at all, I totally underestimated the length. It is still dusty, and there is some paint missing in some areas. It needs some TLC. I was told it worked, but I did not bother to hook it up. It is about 53" long, the rod is permanent, and about 2.5" wide, depends on where you measure. It weighs about 27 lbs. Rumour has it it came from a castle in Redstone, Colorado, but that is only rumour. I have no proof or paperwork, just interesting! This is pick up only, or we can meet somewhere.
