Antique French style metal bronze & or brass wall sconce candleabra frame
Hi folks! here for your bidding consideration is this victorian era original candleabra framed wall sconce. I believe the piece to be made from bronze and brass and it measures 17" long from the top of the bow to the very bottom underneath the middle candle holder and just a little over 11 1/2" across the center front outside edge. Also measuring just shy of 11 1/4" from the back inside edge where a mirror or picture would be held and 36 1/2" all the way around the circle frame. As seen it has 3 seperate candle holders highly decorated with ornate molded florals& leaves. Detailed raised trim beading and what looks like a hand hammered top bow& ribbons. On the back is missing a couple of metal brackets which hold the mirror or picture inside the frame. The piece looks solid& free any breaks with no signs of ... moreany repairs. It's in a naturally aged patina no polishing and other than some naturally aged ware& tare such as tarnish as shown. A good polish will bring out it's beauty. They are very large and really impressive when seen in the flesh- much larger than they appear in the photo's. They are probably around 30 years old and made from very heavy solid bronze. These would have cost a fortune new. We dismantled them in our workshop and completely rewired them with new brass bulb holders so now in full working order again. They are in the form of a bow with trailing ribbons with a curved fluted arm holding pretty crimped and frilled glass lampshades that have a lovely soft peachy tint around the bottom. The gilt bronze has a wonderful warm aged finish which could be polished brighter if required. Both the shades are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. They have been re-wired at some time and are in good working order. Up for consideration is a fine set of 4 or 2 pair of Antique French Wall Sconces. The sconces date from about 1910 or so and measure 14 1/2 inches tall by about 10 inches by 5 inches deep. This set consists of 3 arms on each piece with great casting and super casting. As with good fine quality French Sconces they are cast in many separate pieces. The backplate consists of 3 separate pieces. There is a lacey bowtie top cascading down and tying into the top of the torch with descending bell flowers in the center body of the torch. French wall sconce Napoleon III. It is gilt bronze. It is decorated with acanthus in the form of butt. It consists of a wall portion. Above, is applied in form of gooseneck. To hold the shade, a rose window with 6 claws. This wall sconce is electrified. At the rear, a rod can hang on the wall. This wall sconce date from 1850 to 1900. Very good condition. Dimensions: 13 inches high. and 2.1/ 8 inches wide. Distance from the wall to the claw: 8 inches. With a nice shade. The lamp will be superb.
