This is a very special pair of vintage French Rococo wall lights with etched opaque glass shades. They are very large and really impressive when seen in the flesh- much larger than they appear in the photo's. A really beautiful design with foliate detail and a lovely scallop shell at the base- all typical rococo motifs. Please look at the photo's to really appreciate these. They are probably around 30 years old and made from very heavy solid bronze. These would have cost a fortune new. We dismantled them in our workshop and completely rewired them with new brass bulb holders so now in full working order again. I have for auction this fabulous gilt bronze traditional hall lantern. It is french and was found in a house clearance here in the South of France, so it is vintage, I have not cleaned the lantern except for the glass, I understand that some dealers do not like their metal ware cleaned, but I am sure it will be much brighter still with cleaning if you want it to be. I would think it will date to C1930s, it is wired for use, but this is old wiring and with all second hand electrical items, it is always wise to have this checked out before use, it is designed to take two standard edison screw type light bulbs, the light bulbs displayed in the chandelier are for display only and are not part of this auction. This classic style of hall lantern is highly sought after at present, you often see them displayed in beautiful homes in the high end interior ... moredesigners magazines, adding great style and class to any entrance hall. This lantern is a beautiful early example, it is lovely quality, it would have been very expensive when first purchased. What I love so much ab out this lantern is the wonderf u l glass cylinder shaped liner. The glass has so much charact e r. That you get with early glass, such as the wavey fluid like effect. It emphasizes it's age and adds great charm. The maximum drop from the ornate ceiling rose is approx 19.5" or 50cms, this could be easily lengthened or shortened by adding or removing chain, the diameter is approx 7.25" or 18.5cms. Vintage Antique Pre-1920's French Bronze Chandelier Light Czech Glass Fruit
For your consideration is this fabulous antiuqe Pre-1920's French Yellow Bronze Chandelier dripping with wonderful quality crystal prisms. Pale amethyst French Country prisms,rosettes and Czech glass fruit. This exquisite chandelier has large grapes in amber and amethyst with delicate clear leaves, deep amethsyt and clear grape clusters with leaves, large amber and amethyst apples with large clear leaves. This is a four arm chandelier and does come with beautiful little shades for the bulbs as shown. It measures 19 3/4" tall by 12" wide. The bronze chain is made up of 1 inch links and measures 11 1/2" long. It has it's canopy, which measures 4 1/4" across and note in picture, canopy does have a clicker switch and a hole drilled in it for some reason. The wiring is all new, so it is ready to hang. The candle covers ... moreappear to be original, they show some age and wear, but are gorgeous on the light. The little shades measure 2 1/2" tall by 2" across the bottom. All of the shades are in good condition, one is missing one strand of its 1" fringe and has the string hanging down as shown, it could be turned to the back. The lower glass tube along the center body does have about a quarter inch of it's top lip broken off. This is not noticeable as you can see from overall pictures, unless you really examine the center body. The finishing touch of this lovely light is the crystal finial that measures 5 1/2" long.
