I presume that these were manufactured in ... morethe 1950's or 60's but I am not sure. Certainly vintage and of good quality. Unlike the cheap imported items available today. Both have been checked by a master electrician and are working fine as seen in pics. The wiring is still very pliable and in good condition. Ready to hang, no rewiring necessary. No mounting hardware included, but can be obtained at any hardware store or lighting supply house. Nice vintage condition but not new or mint, so please do not expect them to be. There are some chips to the shades at the mounting area, which are well hid when installed. There is some old paint at the top of the canopies and a piece of scotch tape, both which I'm certain could be removed. There is some scratching to the frost on the shades, presumably from cleaning. Please expect the items to have various other areas of wear and patina, including scratches, scrapes, dings, rust, dirt, finish loss, etc etc as they are quite old and used. I'm not trying to degrade the items as they do look nice displayed, just trying to be thorough. Please closely examine the pics for best description and contact me with any questions before bidding. These are brass plated. I saw one of them cleaned up and it looked beautiful but there is some surface abrasions. There is some residue buildup on these. These will have to be cleaned. When these are cleaned there will likely be some surface wear. I believe that these probably exposed to cigarette smoke as well. The actual electric parts on this appear to be fine but of course I cant really tell. One of the white mountain screw nuts is missing. This part of the fixture is hidden from view so 2 new caps or one substitute can be utilized. You can see this in one of the photos. The wiring(not by me) is modern, as are the on/off switches(I can replace the white switches with brass ones) The sconces are of high quality. Heavy, and largely made from brass. The center sections feature gorgeous wood veneer panels. The main bodies are mounted to wooden back-plates. I cannot know if these are original, or later additions(so that the sconces can cover modern electrical boxes) The back-plates have a center section in a vellum color; I’m uncertain as to the material, it might be vellum. On the back is some writing in pencil but I cannot read this. Alas. Under each socket housing(quite distinctive in shape) is a glass disk with cut edges. There’s also a glass sphere in the center. Top, of each sconce. I love the curvaceous shape of the arms. The sconces accept silk shades(not included) but also look well without shades(see last image) Impressively scaled. For your bidding is a gorgeous pair of Art Deco 2 Light wall sconces. The backs which are 7" in diameter are brass grating with a brass plate in the back that has been painted white. Each sconce has two lights/candles that are 6 1/2" tall with the original sleeves and pull changes to turn on and off(all working) The total length of each sconce is 9 1/2" The arms of the lights have swirled detailed designs and reach out 6 1/2" from the wall. Two vintage Nautical themed wall sconces. Vintage light fixtures decorated with sailing ships. Seashells and what looks like sea weed. Each sconce has five candle stick lights on top and a single socket lamp on the bottom. Half of an original sticker is still on the back of the sconce being photographed- all I can make out is'Brotherhood of Electricians. Cannot say for sure whether these sconces are made of bronze or brass. They are heavy. With each fixture weighing over 12 lbs. Sconces measure approximately 22" tall and 16" wide. I found no cracks or chips on either of these beautiful Asian Inspired Art Deco Style Shades. Measure approx. 5 1/2" in height. 2" rim, and 3" base. They appear to be more of a milk glass interior with a satin exterior. You will find the tiny typical flea bites/darkened areas around the rim from the fixture rubbing on them. I was able to get most of the paint specks off, but you may find a few leftover. One has a small dark line which you will see in the photo. Nothing that is significant. Noted mostly for description accuracy. As with all previously loved vintage pieces you may find wear from use. I only soap and water clean so anything stronger is left up to the buyer. Pair Early 20th Century 2 Arm Bronze Sconces w Gilt Leaves Acorn Finials & Brass
Here we have a really great early 20th century pair of 2 arm bronze sconces with both gilt& brass leaves and acorn finials. These heavy sconces have a super deep time aged patina and we believe they date to the turn of 20th century. Each sconce has two arms and seven gilt leaves staggered along the length of the main bronze shaft. One sconce has four brass leaves between the gilt leaves and the other sconce is missing two brass leaves leaving two. All of the leaves have curved copper stems which are also used to hold the leaves to the main bronze shaft. These sconces are in untouched as-found condition with a wonderful deep time aged patina and we have not cleaned or dusted them. The patina is very deep and it is possible that it is remnants of red or brown paint. Each of these sconces will need brackets. Lighting parts, rewiring and ... morehave loose acorn finials. They each measure 13 1/4" tall. 4 1/4" across the arms and weigh 1 pound 10 ounces. This is a really interesting early 20th century pair of sconces with gilt leaves and with a little attention will make a wonderful usable pair.
